The story Celtic are telling transfer targets right now

204

Between making his international debut in 2017 and joining Celtic over four years later, Josip Juranovic started five games for Croatia.  In the 18 months since he became a became automatic first pick for his country and a standout at the World Cup.

The Daizen Maeda story is even more stark.  He started one game for Japan (in 2019) before becoming a Celtic player, getting to the World Cup and beating two of the tournament favourites.

This is the story Celtic are telling transfer targets right now: ‘Look at what we did for Jura and Daizen, come to Celtic and we will do the same for you’.

Brazil might feel like the big one, but the next one is always the big one.  Best wishes to Josip and Croatia tonight.

  1. Right, the wife has the remote control back. We are working our way through “The Man in the High Castle” on Netflix.

Interesting take on what could have happened if the Nazis and Japan had won the war.

  2. That was the first time I have watched an entire game in the WC.

As a kid I was a massive fan. Knew every player in every team from 66,70,74,78,82,86,90 and for me it then lost its specialness. I went to the final in Rome and I went to games in France 96 and in Germany 06 and SA in 10 but it all felt so bloated. Despite the upsets like England Italy Germany and others falling at groups stages and even failing to qualify it has not felt so good for me this past few times. Hopefully we get a semi to remember tomorrow and a final worthy of the name on Sunday. I will watch these 2 games for sure.

I honestly don’t care who wins it. Maybe Pele might see his vision of an African team winning it come Sunday.

Far more important to me is ensuring Celtic are at least 9 points clear come Saturday night. And st least 9 points clear by the time we run out at Ibrox on January 2nd.

Better still we are at least 9 points clear by the end of the game at Ibrox. Only 4 more sleeps till we see the hoops again.

It’s defo worth doin a bit of digging on who is the hand behind the puppet-:the sites that fart out nonsense, implying they are in the know, they are not, record, sun affiliated nonsense.

I still think football is great mate,in wc

It’s got a story this world cup

Argentina still there 6th final.thats pedigree.

The whole Messi story is of total awe.

Look at the impact of Morocco, the seed it will sew.

For Africa, for the Arab world.for being a team,a team not really full of known players

France, world champs in waiting, especially after defeating the team everyone and their mammy know are the real entitled champions.

You always see innovative stuff at the world cup

Neymars 1st goal but they went oot.

Messi’s reverse pass the other night.

His run tonight for the 3rd.

I have see not as many full games but there has been some great football theatre.

we have quite a few games before we play the hun b78

  5. Wee Messi is what used to be known in Scotland as a ‘tanner ba’ player’

Thing is they were ten a penny back in the day…

  6. Back to Basics - Glass Half Full on

    Argentina very effective.

They look unperturbed playing off scraps

Safe in the knowledge Messi will do at least three good things each match.

  7. I don’t quite see it that way Paul. I think the main story will be about the route to playing in more lucrative EPL e.g. Wanayama, Van Dyke, Tierney in recent times. But success in better leagues is by no means guaranteed one you get there. Haven’t plenty of Celtic players failed down south. Timing is important and so is upping your game considerably once there to deal with the more competitive setting.

  8. High value players, obscure ex Huns telling us they can still overcome a 9 point deficit, new manager (same as the old boss plus one) and the press ignoring their financial straits. Or should it be traits?

  9. Argentina v Croatia….3 – 0.

By Jingo, I called that RESULT/SCORELINE all WRONG….Except from a Betting point of View as I had ” MESSI” to score the 1st Goal @ odds of 3/1, on three separate lines.

I am now waiting on MBAPPE of France for the 1st Goal for a DOUBLE tonight in the other semi final also @ odds of 3/1.

I have ALSO taken MESSI to score the 1st Goal in a DOUBLE with Morrocos ” BOUFAL” @ 14/1, to score the 1st goal tonight.

FRANCE were my MAIN Bet to win the World Cup @ odds of 7/1….so for the moment anyway…I am still on course ?

    LOL

    HH.

  10. Ive NOT read back yet but I felt very sorry for Croatia and their Goalie at the award of the Penalty to Argentina which Messi converted in expert fashion.

The Argentinian player CLEARLY RAN INTO the Croatian Goalie, who had NO CHANCE of avoiding the contact. the Goalie had STOPPED advancing towards the Argentine player, who simply saw the CHANCE to make ANY CONTACT and go down,

However, Argentina DESERVED their Victory, as Croatia looked rather subdued throughout, but that MAY have been due to MESSI and his mates playing rather well ?

  11. In Name Only….

There is a Horse called ” REECELTIC” that is due to run at LINGFIELD Toady at 12.20pm.

Its currently at odds of 5/2…2nd Favourite. It MAY be worth a wee Modest Bet ?

However, Lingfield has an INSPECTION at around 7.30am, so the Meeting MAY NOT go ahead ?

Just saying like…I LIKE the Name !

    LOL

  12. Hello again all you young rebels

  13. MELBOURNE MICK…

    Morning MICK.

Like many others I am certainly looking forward to seeing The Famous Glasgow Celtic again..

We are currently having VERY COLD conditions in Scotland just now, but as a younger Man I ALWAYS preferred playing in the Cold and/or Rain, rather than Hot weather.

My 1st wife used to call me a ” Weirdo”, because I didnt mind the Cold…or Rain or Snow !

In my EARLY Working life, I was used too working OUTSIDE in ALL Weathers, building sites etc, so it didnt bother me…usually .

I hope that you and PADDYFAEOZ and your families are all Fit and Healthy.

Bring on the Dandy Dons !

    HH Mate.

  14. MELBOURNE MICK….

I am UNSURE IF the Aberdeen v Celtic game is in danger of being CALLED AFF due to the weather ?

the Forecast isnt great…but we will see ?

BIGRAILROADBLUES is OFF the drink during December, but he Posted yesterday about being oot shopping with his Missus….INSTEAD of being in any Boozer.

I BELIEVE that may be a ” HOSTAGE” Situation…poor auld BRRB.

Thank God that I dont have any Wife dragging me around shops these days. Even when I WAS Married to Two wummin….I usually got my own way by REFUSING to go shopping with them.

I STILL hate shopping, even if its for myself….so i tend to order Clothes and Food etc ONLINE and get the items DELIVERED to my front door.

    Thats SO MUCH BETTER !

    HH Mate.

  15. LINFIELD Racing goes AHEAD.

So in the 12.20 Race I have backed the Horse ” REECELTIC” at odds of 5/2.

    MON the CELTIC !

    Bet responsibly.

  16. “Michael Beale bringing back Rangers tradition of brown brogues will see them a shoo-in for success – Barry Ferguson“

A serious article in a national newspaper

  17. Celtic40me

No expert on what footballers wear today but I’d imagine, particularly through the winter months, they’d be better wearing football boots with studs, brogues just don’t have the same grip.

  18. Between 30 and 50 souls lost in the English Channel ,these days you have to check if it’s actually 2022….

  19. Ah no, the brown brogues are back….

We’re effed. Us and our total focus on winning games of football will just not be enough against Beale & Co.

    Good while it lasted.

Obviously Barry, Mick and their other media pals are unfamiliar with the old saying “clothes maketh not the man”.

  22. bigrailroadblues on

    Good morning all from Govanhill.

    Big Jimmy

I don’t go into shops with Mrs BRRB. I sit in the car and listen to Howlin Wolf/Muddy Waters etc. A man needs some great blues tracks to retain what’s left of his sanity.

  24. Paul67 et al

Never mind the story that Celtic are telling transfer targets, what about the story it is telling those of us who support the Club, and the players who currently play for it? We dont care whether you leave or stay, what the hell do we care (mmm song in there methinks) cause we only know that there is gonna be an er AGM….

Late next year. Ah but JJ wants to go, but what about the ones that didn’t, O’Donnell, Donnelly, Ledley and I believe, Hooper. Or Frimpers, en route to the airport before WITS could get into second gear. Could it be that that the policy as currently advocated by Paul67 on behalf of the Celtic Board, will not benefit the team or the club but could in fact destabilise it? Some on here of course can only see the world through the Board’s eyes, via a tunnel vision, but not the one that takes you onto the pitch at Celtic Park, (the one AJ is taking) but lack what the early Paul always feared,……cognitive dissonance.
