MARCELO SARACCHI has revealed he would welcome a return to Celtic.
The Uruguayan international defender made 27 appearances as back-up to Kieran Tierney and played a pivotal role late in the Hoops’ 3-1 victory over Hearts that clinched the club’s fifth successive title in the final Premiership encounter of a turbulent campaign.
Saracchi also replaced the Scotland World Cup left-back in his last game when Martin O’Neill’s side lifted the Scottish Cup against Neil Lennon’s Dunfermline.
Surprisingly, the champions did not make the move permanent and the fans’ favourite returned to Boca Juniors before joining MLS outfit Houston Dynamo in a £900,000 switch in the summer.

ON THE BALL…the impressive Marcelo Saracchi in action.
Saracchi admitted he was “gutted” when he realised there would be no quickfire return to Glasgow, but has revealed he has not written off a comeback at some stage in the future.
The tenacious back-four performer said: “Do I hope I’ll be able to play for Celtic again? I think yes.
“Honestly, the story with me and Celtic isn’t finished yet.
“I would like to go back. But it’s just on their end to see their interest and their intention in wanting me there.
“But things could change. There are always solutions, so I think yes.”
Saracchi, speaking to the Daily Record, continued: “I wish them the best. It’s a club that will keep fighting, keep going.
“It’s a huge fanbase, a huge club.
“I wish them the best and hopefully in the future we’re able to reconnect again.”
Reflecting on his departure at the conclusion of the double-winning campaign, the 11 times-capped full-back added: “It seemed like Martin O’Neill was really interested and keen on keeping me.
“But it did feel like the negotiations were going on too long.”
Ultimately, Saracchi headed for Texas to further his career, but, as he says, the “story isn’t finished yet.”
