The trouble football people have with contracts

941

You have to wonder about football people sometimes when they appear to not know the difference between a contract and something which is not a contract.  A contract is a signed document committing one or more parties to do something.  For example, Lassad Noiuoiu and Celtic signed a contract committing the player to perform the duties of a footballer and committing Celtic to provide pay and conditions.

Employers can also contractually agree to pay employees money for fulfilling their job, over and above their Contract of Employment, by simply writing the terms down, signing the document and handing it over to the employee.  For a football player, this type of additional contract would need to be registered with the relevant Football Association and tax would be due on it, or else the Karma Police will come round and leave you in tears.

Speaking about his attempts to sign Noiuoiu, Levante’s president said, “During 30 hours of negotiations we closed the transfer with faxes and documents between the two parties”.

“Two parties”, “faxes and documents”?  Let’s be specific, the two parties would need to be Levante and Lassad Noiuoiu and the documents would need to be a Contract of Employment, otherwise it appears that Levante have been the victim of an agent trying to make a deal happen when he was not in control of events.

It will be a bitter pill to swallow for Levante, who appear to have acted with good faith throughout, but as Celtic fans have long known, a new signing is not a new signing until he is running around a football field.

With the Netflix service how do you stream it to your tv. Is it through a smart tv or through a laptop or some other device?

HI I stream via apple tv small hard drive[plugs easily into the back of TV] which links to my broadband which means you dont have to stream via laptop but you can link your laptop also to view pics, your music via itunes to larger tv via apple device it also accesses Apple tv movies for rent and purchase and other tv programmes/you tube etc.

Netflix is one of the channels they offer[first month free],Apple tv movies are around £4.95 to rent for a certain period or £15 to download and purchase. You can also download music via Apple tv.

Apple tv box is about the size of a pack of cards and costs about £99 to buy.

    Hope that helps.

Apple movies are mostly in HD

  3. The same Anthony Stokes who single-handedly turned around our game against Kilmarnock last year, which is widely regarded as the turning point in our season.

We can all pick a single performance of any player and hold it up as an indication of their perennial form. It’s not, by the way.

Neil has stiffened up the forward line and it will please me immensely if Tony Stokes scores the winning goal at Wembley.

I doubt if Stokes will even get on the bench for the Final

  5. Thomas Rogne has missed Celtic’s last 3 games through injury. His last game was Helsingborg away. He found himself fit enough to play for Norway’s U-21 side last night. Norway play England away on Monday. If Thomas plays in that game he will struggle to play at St Johnstone on the Saturday

Such is the state of his fitness, it is impossible for him to play Sat, Wed, Sat

In those circumstances, Celtic are quite right in their contract offer

  6. I’m a new member on CQN, however, I have lurked around for a long time reading the thoughts and opinions of all. I have enjoyed the great humor, the passion for our club, the commitment of the fans. We are all Glasgow Celtic, one big family. More than a club.

I’d just like to say after reading one of the best posts I’ve read on here,,, from BROGAN HOGAN about wee Niamh Curry. Its a humbling story that many of us will never encounter in our own lives. It really makes you think how lucky you/we are. It really makes you think how special our club and fans are. I’m truly proud and honored to be part of this club(albeit from the stand or as in my positron across the Atlantic) thanks to Brogan for posting a wonderful letter. Hail,, Hail bhoys n ghirls.

How long ago did he do that, if you can recall?

Kojo is not appreciated by many on this site, that is their right, I find his comments fascinating as he always has futuristic info.

It’s not really a loaded question. We’re a PLC we are required to meet certain standards with regards to the reporting of our accounts. Unlike our rivals now departed.

We all know that the board seek to maximise the financial input from the fans while consistently failing to meet the demands of a large section of the fan base with regards to that financial input being mirrored in the team on the park. It’s a completely valid point of view, although not one I always agree with.

However you seem to be inferring that there’s something more duplicitous going on. If that’s what you think I’d be interested to know why.

I’ve been searching all day for words to respond to your post of last night. My God was generous to me but he never gifted me the ability to respond with words that would do the spirit of your post – and the acclaimed ethos of the Celtic Support – with due justice and accolade.

I’ve no idea what you allude to regards future Celtic and Charity (Compassion) but I’ve no doubt that it will make me choke with pride and others with envy.

I have a ST in Bus Lounge – NS and have done since 1997. When UEFA spomnsores muscled in on the seating – (ie CFC bent over backwards to accommodate them) they were put in the padded seats and given access to the lounge. We were punted to the section at the front of the Padded seats and were also given access to the lounge – A nightmare as it was mobbed. Cost – slightly more than ST holders were being charged.

Then someone came up with the bright idea – Why done we give Uefa access to the loung but they dont need the padded seats – We will put them in the front section and charge our Bus Class extra to sit in their normal seats.

    Win Win Win !

Agreed and as I said earlier it takes all sorts to make a blog.

I enjoy some of the wind-up “team” and find them occasionaly funny. Sorry to say I can’t put Kev into that category.

Abusive – In my opinion Kev crosses that line regulary when he comments on our club, board and leaders.

Interesting also, it would depend what time he told CQN about Northern Rock/Banks. Buy Low – Sell High could be a long game.

I don’t know what he was saying back then, I remember him being asked questions about futures etc but I always find it interesting when something like this morning pops up, i.e. Netflix growing.

  25. Petec,

Can’t remember exactly but I would say over 24 months ago, mind you they did role out in the States first however they were a fledgling company at the time.

Kojo is not appreciated that is very true, there’s a great deal of wisdom in Coterie.

I also have STs for the investor/business class in NS but never take them up for european games , £315(210+105) for me and ma bhoy package. No thanks. £144(£84+£60) for anywhere else in the stadium. It also has the bonus of allowing you a different perspective for games.

Over the years I have been twice to Lisbon Lions lower , NS lower(east), SS lower(west), and Jock Stein(upper). Going to try for NS lower(west, just in front of our normal seats if poss) this year.

  28. Hail hail all from a dry and cloudy Wigan

I am sat in the local council vehicle testing facility waiting on my new taxi to return from its MOT TEST wish me luck.

If anyone says that councils are skint then follow the Wigan model for taxi licensing

1 every driver pays £70 per year for a badge which you provide the medical CRB check and photo for

2 Every vehicle is tested every 6 months for an annual fee of £276

3 ALL tests MUST be done at the councils only facility leaving no realistic grounds for appeal if your car fails( don’t upset a wiganer!!!)

There are over 10,000 drivers and approx 5,000 taxis in Wigan borough!!!

    skint my arse

Sorry I know it was a bit off topic but I’m sat here on this gruesome waitin room drinking crap coffee and not making any money whilst doing so

I just needed to get that of my chest lol

On a more pleasant subject when is the barca away game ? The good lady has just informed me that we are going to salou on the 28th Oct for a week and if it’s on whilst I’m over there I gonna take a mosey down there

    Cheers on advance
