The vandals, the violent and the vile

First Minister Nicola Sturgeon called what happened in Glasgow on Saturday “violence and vandalism and vile anti-Catholic prejudice”.  No holding back from Newco’s often-reluctant combatant.

On Friday, I suggested those who believe in Scottish or Glaswegian superiority should reappraise themselves on the streets on the city the following day.  Our society’s underbelly was as clear as it was predictable.  I could argue it is uglier than most places I know.

With George Square filled exclusively with illegally-assembled Newco fans, the combatants turned on each other; reliving the violence earlier generations of Oldco fans brought to cities across Britain and beyond.  There is no peer-control, no one cares enough about this particular reputation, certainly not the club that asked, “If possible, please celebrate within your own community.”  When “If possible” statements are permitted, you know what you are dealing with.

Some of us are mere football fans, not trying to compensate for a whole range of inadequacies.  If possible, let them wait another decade before they have another trophy to celebrate.

While I knew not a word of condemnation would come from within Celtic park , I did expect to hear the voice of our church leaders . The jimtim,s , the Paul 67 etc carry no weight but our church hierarchy making a statement should make a few of the scum currently working how to get this swept under the carpet sweat a bit . If no action is taken by the Scottish government , uefa , the police, the courts . Then it’s the back of the bus for us right enough . I didn’t mention the HQ of Scottish football as they never take any action unless it’s against us . I did mention the helping hand given to that govan mob by the Lanarkshire referee association to stop the ten , even although we helped them more than the refs . Wait till you see the assistance awarded when 40 million is at stake .

Firstly, “If you only had brain in your head you would be as good as man as any of them, and a better man than some of them. Brains are the only things worth having in this world, no matter whether one is a crow or a man.”.

Secondly, “Never interrupt your enemy when he is making a mistake.” .

  5. Thought she done well.

Need to keep an eye on this

Yousaf said: “Strict liability has to be considered, no ifs no buts. It’s clearly a matter that has to be discussed and considered.

I wouldn’t be at all surprised if their response to the weekend’s events is to try to get the Greens to support an updated version of their Offensive Behaviour at Football and Threatening Communications (Scotland) Act.

  7. Have the UK Unionists said anything meaningful condemning their supporters typical behaviour at the weekend?

  8. sionnaigh

Well if you mean those on here…

The answer would have to be …..

    But you knew that already

  9. Not a regular commentor these days but I take it someone has covered the BBC Scotland Sports headline-“Rangers are Bouncing”.I wouldnt give a dime to this corrupt cabal.

Yet some meeja are breaking free with a more realistic expose:

While some say we should stay quiet and others say shout out, for me we have to say something but absolutely in the right way and in the right time. Dom is the ideal person to lay down a new marker. Question is, will DD let him, lest it diminishes the blue quid’s value?

  11. CELTIC MAC on 17TH MAY 2021 11:50 PM

I honestly thought the UK Unionists might have manned up.

    Silly me.

  12. QUADROPHENIAN on 18TH MAY 2021 12:38 AM

The Scotsman is a UK Unionist rag. Any comments relating to Rangers FC liquidation are deleted.

There’s always a UK Unionist angle to their play.

Silly you . If you only had a brain .

Understand that take. But so many screengrabs, SEO results and social shares of that content helps put this cancer on notice…least until the next time.

  15. QUADROPHENIAN on 18TH MAY 2021 12:57 AM

Have to admit, having read said article, can’t find any angle from the UK Unionist Scotsman other than, mea culpa.

  16. JIMTIM on 18TH MAY 2021 12:49 AM

Don’t carry that grievance to your bed with a cow in your head ;-)

  17. Saying that the players video might be a fake video/audio is akin to the Boris ‘bodies piled high’ comment. We all know whether he and they said or sang it, that they did or do likewise on a regular basis.

  18. Good morning cqn from a beautiful sunny morning in the Garngad

So there is still planes flying into the uk from India, 20k uk citizens flew out of the UK yesterday, 15k zombies rioted at the weekend and we cannot get a pint in a pub or restaurant?

    What the F#$k?

    D :)

  19. On Sunday, I posted

“Not the biggest fan of the first minister. However, her comments are interesting.

Sevco pr guy must be tempted to pause his creationism dvd and pen a response.

Will the response be contrite? Aggressive? Dismissive? Whataboutery?

Can hardly call it a one off when its clearly not.”

It appears the hun plumped for a mix of aggressive and dismissive.

    They are all too predictable

Eyes on the prize, please, Celtic. Nothing should distract our board from the urgent and critical appointment of a new management team

  20. DAVID66 on 18TH MAY 2021 6:52 AM

Aye mate…it appears that YOU and ME are much more of a Covid Threat than 15 Thousand Rabid Huns.

    HH Mate.

  21. Ive STILL to read or hear ANYTHING from that Tory Unionist Hun Scumbag Douglas Ross about 15 thousand Unionists DELIBERATELY Breaking Covid LAWS of the Land, and the Anti Catholic chanting and singing last Saturday ?

  22. Jimmy – Exactly, they party we suffer, repeat.

    Feckin sick of it.

I noticed James Forrest on the Celtic Blog didn’t take much part in the feeding frenzy yesterday.

During the afternoon, I thought I saw a headline from it which included filth mentioned but I haven’t tracked down the related article. Maybe pulled it back himself. Anyway, I wish him well. A natural born entertainer.

  24. Radio Scotland in deflection mode. They have just had a discussion on Rangers and sectarianism. It was between a Dr Morrow, who seems to hail from Northern Ireland, who claimed among other things that there has been a sea change in their supporters, and Roddy Forsyth, described as a football correspondent. No mention that he works for the BBC or that he is a supporter of the deid team. Immediately it was established that it is a problem for both the big teams (that’s how it was put). Forsyth went on to say that his team had made great strides over the years and that Saturday should have been a day of unbridled celebration, as the bulk of the supporters he met were doing.

We are never going to get anywhere if that is how BBC Scotland continue to operate.
