There is a team in this squad but defending for buttons

895

Of all the football nonsense, I hate scapegoating most.  So Ryan, I’m sorry, but what on earth were you doing?  We were 0-2 ahead and had created several other very good chances.  Milan were nowhere, they had not mustered a cohesive attack. That foul was conceded in the perfect spot for a free kick taker; you could read the script on how momentum would switch the moment it was awarded.

Attackers are primarily there to exploit opponents weaknesses, Tom Rogic, Odsonne Edouard and Ryan Christie combined to do this and put Celtic two ahead in the San Siro.  Tom came close on another occasion, Callum McGregor had a gilt-edged chance and having got himself into the perfect position, Jeremie Frimpong froze with Milan at his mercy.  We could have been out of sight.

There is a team in this squad.  The formation looked right.  Frimpong seemed liberated from his normal wide anchor, Rogic worried defenders before tiring; in particular, I was impressed by the way the ball was accurately bulleted across the field.

Oh, and we cannot defend for buttons.  I was chastised by a 16-year-old after the game for talking up the relative merits of this performance compared to Ross County.  Apparently there is a rulebook for defending two goal leads away to tier one teams, you defend like Ross County and close the game out.  But we don’t know how to defend like Ross County.  Imagine that!

What I will say is, they fought for their manager last night, Commando Christie in particular.

I don’t know if it’s because my only son is called Daniel that I’m drowning in tears here. I cannot imagine the pain you must be feeling right now.

I’m pretty sure most people had tears in their eyes reading

    DANDAN’s post.

For me it brought back a memory of the weemhan standing

up at the game against Melbourne, a mass of Celtic fans at

one end singing YNWA, and a packed Victory support at the

other end, us in the middle beside the glitterati.

Unpromted he had his scarf in the air and singing along.

Bhoy ! that made my heart swell.

Sincere condolences on the passing of your beautiful son Daniel.

I lost my youngest son aged 17 to leukaemia 12 years past in November.

One of my greatest memories was him being with me at Celtic Park, the first year we won the league under Martin O Neill. He was only 11 but how he loved that occasion. You will get the strength to carry on from Daniel. He is not far away and will always be with you. You will get wee signs along the way to let you know he is right there beside you. Take care and God Bless. YWNWA.

  21. DANDAN,

Due to certain family circumstances I havent seen or been able to speak to my Da for over 12 years now.

He has been Blind for at least 6 years now, and I would dearly love to see and speak to him again……however, I STILL have wonderful memories of him taking me to Celtic games in Season 1962/63….and more often than not, he would carry me on those Big Broad Shoulders of his…. as we left Celtic Park celebrating.

He drove to Lisbon in 1967 with many of his Taxi mates, but he didnt take me……even as a 11 year old Bhoy back then, it took me some time to ever speak to him again…Only Joking of course !

I found out in later life that he didnt take me to Lisbon because of all The Strip Clubs he and his mates intended on visiting on their journey there and back !

My Prayers are with young Daniel and your Family.

I have often been a ” Chump”, over many years especially in relation to Wummin and certain Jobs that I left, when I should have stayed put…but its mainly been Wummin…if I am honest. LOL….I made some horrendous mistakes in relation to some Wummin…so I am happy to put MY Hands up and admit that I have been a Chump on some occasions in the past…..having said all that…there were some Wummin that were glad to see the back of me LOL !

  23. Melbourne Mick on

Hello again all you young rebels.

And any chumps who canny sleep ( aye you big Jimmy )

What Celtic will we see this week? will we see a team who recognise

they’re are short changing us with a lacklustre attitude and come out

fighting for the cause, or a team who couldn’t care less and only

thinking about their next big move.

Just maybe if they took the time to read the passion and support on

this blog for DANDAN they would realise Celtic is no ordinary football

    club.

I suppose Billy McNeils, Tommy Burns, Paul McStays only come round

once in a while and money is god now.

Hope some of them realise they won’t get better elsewhere and give

their total commitment to the bhoys for the rest of the season at least.

Thanks once again for your recent support, but as I told DAVID66, I didnt want anyone to stop Posting cos I was Red Carded.

Say HH to PADDY for me please, I hope he is well ?

Celtic Park…” Fenced Off” …..if things continue like they have been on and off the Pitch. its only a matter of time before Search Lights and Machine Gun Posts are erected LOL ?

With Sgt Shultz patroling the Perimeter ?

For any ” Young wans ” reading this…Sgt Shultz was a German Sgt in the 1960’s TV Comedy Show…HOGANS HEROES. about POW’s in Stalag 13.

Sgt Shultz…now, there was a real Chump LOL “.

HH Mate…..I havent had a Beer since Oct 9th…due to this Lock Down. I wish I could force myself to drink in the hoose now and then…but I just cant do it LOL.

Try a rid biddy in the hoose Jimmy, as i keep telling the

princess ” wine is just like sugarolly water ” and the red ones

    are good for you.

Maybe not as much as I drink right enough 8-))

    H.H. Mick

  26. MELBOURNE MICK….

Maybe some present Celtic players should be told that the grass isnt always greener elsewhere ?

Some of those Mis Firing Celts should be grateful that there isnt 60,000 Celtic supporters at Celtic Park in these dark days. screaming at them for mostly 90 minutes ?

I wish I knew the answers to ALL the problems at Celtic Park, but I DO know one thing…this is not ALL down to Neil Francis Lennon…its from the very Top….and heading downwards.

Players have to also take responsibility…but many professional players wont do that…no matter how badly they perform imho ?

    HH Mate.

    Stay safe and well.

  27. MELBOURNE MICK…

Ive just NEVER enjoyed drinking on my own in the Hoose…its very depressing…and I end up calling myself A CHUMP LOL !

I am fine drinking in a Pub on my own, and enjoy Juke Box music etc.

My Bank balance is more healthy with the Pubs being closed, and me not putting money in the Juke Box……some call me ” Juke Box Jimmy” LOL.

Im saving a fortune..but I would gladly spend a fortune on Beer, Wummin…and the Juke Box.

I miss those heady days LOL
