There is worse to come

812

Neil Lennon said we didn’t deserve to lose 4-1, as we dominated large parts of the game against a team who have lost their last four games (not against Celtic), conceding 14 goals in the process.  But oh, Neil, we absolutely deserved to lose by at least that margin.

Our disorganisation is a marvel.  Scott managing to start his jump goal-side of a dropping ball and ending up wrong side.  Callum playing three onside.  Kris A. not committing to block the cross (forgiven, trying to cover two positions), Chris J. attempting to intercept with the wrong foot (forgiven, fitness).  Hatem reliving his Ferencvaros highlights.  Full backs who are never back and produce few assists; there is no defensive midfield, unless you count the goalkeeper who feels the need to leave his box and play that position, just a midfield of nomads.

The team is a collection of individuals unencumbered by a workable strategy.  Opposition managers have their game plan written: defend deep, play on the counter and put numbers forward at set-pieces.  If we could defend counter-attacks and corner kicks, we would be having a legendary season, but we can’t, so everyone looks awful.

In sport, if you have evident fatal flaws and persistently fail to resolve them, you deserve every setback that comes your way.  It is hard to recall a Celtic team that deserved to lose more.  Let me give you a cheery prediction, you will soon forget about last night, as there is worse to come.

  1. Hello again all you young rebels.

Not a football post unfortunately, I feel there are enough supposed

Celtic fans sticking the boot into Lenny and the club at the moment.

Wouldn’t like to be in the trenches with some of you lot.

Scroll on by now if you don’t want to hear of my lifetimes search for

any history of the Celtic football club and how the ethos reaches the

    far corners of the world.

I’ve related many a story on here of my travels in life, whether by work

or leisure, always at the forefront of my thoughts are, will I come across

a fellow Celt here? or is there a CSC somewhere about?

So today, a one hour drive to a little town on the Southern Ocean coast,

Port Fairy, apparently it was where the boats from Ireland landed bringing

people from a country blighted by famine after a journey of eight months.

Eight months ! think about that.

Lovely little place full of Georgian type buildings, with pub names The Belfast

and Caledonia Inn which I learned to my delight a load of Scots decided with

their Gaelic brothers to go and try this new land away from the tyrannical

    Ingerlunders lol.

Wee stroll along the harbour, little fishing boats, Be Jaysus, Cork, Kathleen

I could have been walking along the Liffey.

But it was more touristy than I like, so another drive inland to the farming

lands and a small town which the tourist board assured me was a Irish town

and a historical pub called Mickey Bourke’s

Now I was in my element, soon as we drove in the street names resonated

O’Grady’s lane, O’Neils road etc. but the pub itself was like going back in time.

If you try a cross between Bairds bar with all the stuff on the walls and the

Sari Heid’s ancient mahogany bar and furniture you’d be nearly there.

Up on the walls pictures I’d assume very valuable, possibly over a hundred

years old of Irish patriots, poets, not to forget the brass spittoons in the

corner, but lo and behold above the coal fireplace with the old chimney sweep’s

brush lying beside it..wowee.. a framed Celtic strip of Jimmy McGrory’s.

    Now that made my day.

These are the things that make me so proud to be in the Celtic family, yes we’re

going through tough times on the field, but in the bigger picture what other club

in the world could a supporter travel thousands of miles from home go into the

Bush, the outback , the mountains, anywhere and see where your forefathers

portrayed their love for their club and country.

Keep the faith Bhoys and Ghirls, Celtic will be back whether with Lenny or not.

    H.H. Mick

  2. Worse to come???

Sounds to me like P67 knows either…

    A) The contingency plan in terms of the successor for Lenny.

    B) The trigger point to launch that plan ie the number of defeats or points dropped.

    C) The reasons or causes to this season’s misfiring Celtic machine.

    D) All of the above.

A bit of a head-scratcher but I suspect some news will come out from the club in the coming days.

A lot of blame and criticism of Lenny going around for the last few weeks. Justified or not. One thing he can never be criticised for is his will to win or caring about the welfare of our club and it’s results. He will be hurting as much as any of us with what’s transpired so far this season.

Can the same be said about this current group of players?

  3. DBHOY

How are you my Western Oz mate?

Current group of players have a lot to answer for imo.

  4. Mick 5.15am

Good wee read there, thanks for sharing. I was at the Port Fairy festival about 97/98. Beautiful rugged coastline all the way on the drive from Torquay.

Re the tic. Things have been worse before, way worse as you know. Nothing is lost yet, I remain hopeful out of pure defiance if nothing else.

    Enjoy your trip mate.

    HH

  5. Mick

Missed your post there as I was typing mine on my phone.

I’m not going to single any player or players out. Just trying to remind folk it’s not all down to Neil Lennon.

All well here, thanks. Hitting Dan’s shortly for some single malt.

    auldheid

I have made this point on here offtimes before.

Celtic FC are not and were not Party to the 5WA.

We may or not be party to it, but that is a whole different matter altogether as you well know.

And to this day, neither you or I are quite sure which 5WA, the Parties are Party to.

But we, as in Celtic FC, are not Party to any of them.

    ======/

I don’t make statements I have no evidence to back up.

There are TWO documents involved. One shows that a copy of the 5 Way Agreement was e mailed to Peter Lawwell at a non Celtic email address and to Eric Riley a member of the SPL Board at the time. That e mail from Doncaster tells recipients that if they do not reply by next day that will be taken as acceptance of the attached Agreement.

The only way neither could truthfully say they never saw it would be they never opened the attachment or neither received it in spite of 2 e mail addresses being used , if however it was received but attachment not read that is an act of gross incompetence or they didnt need to open it as they knew the contents.

The second document is a record of a meeting Eric Riley had in Oct 2013 as an SPL Board member discussing obtaining payment of the £250k fine imposed by LNS. At that meeting Rob McKenzie rehearsed the 5 Way Agreement including reference to the CAS clause that was successfully used by The Rangers under Dave King to stop the SFA JPDT of June 2018 from proceeding.

Now did I just make all that up or am I giving you reasons why I say Celtic knew about the contents of the 5 Way Agreement including the CAS clause we KNOW was in it because it was referenced by McKenzie who briefed Riley in Oct2013 a month before the 2013 AGM was held and was reported in the media in July 2018.

That Oct meeting may be a coincidence but when Celtic then insist after the Nov 2013 AGM that establishing what took place HAD to be confined to the SFA judicial process that was always going to run into the CAS barrier they were aware of a month before the 2013 AGM then my phrase ripping the piss is totality inadequate.

I know you dont want to believe it but Celtic were privy to the 5 Way Agrrement and Joe Biden won the 2020 Presidential election.

  8. Lennon has said we don’t defend set-plays well enough and we might need to start working on them – four months into his second season 🤨

  9. lets all do the huddle on

    CHOCTAWCELT

so you claim not to be a hun

but in your first ever post on this site you come on to abuse 53000 season ticket holders who pay hundreds of pounds for their season tickets

    aye right

    away ye go

  10. Celtic can win 10 orca not.

    Our Almightys Story is Monumental.

    Lenny might Fall short.

    Ffs Celts.

    Its a Cyber War.

    Let the Celts adjust.

    Jobo is wise.

    Come on Lenny Bhoy.

  11. Strangely, that defeat on Thursday was our first away loss in Europe in a long time – if you discount the 2-0 Cluj dead rubber game.

I’d say that would be 8 or 9 matches even if some of them were against low ranked sides.

It’s our home form that’s letting us down badly in the last few seasons in this environment.

Total reverse from the days when CP was a fortress and we were usually 2 goals down away from home after 10 minutes or so.

  12. SETTING FREE THE BEARS FOR RES. 12 & OSCAR KNOX on 28TH NOVEMBER 2020 1:42 AM

Do you think that the effects of the Covid pandemic might possibly have influenced the Celtic Board’s strategic plans?

  13. I found it quite strange that Lennon had to come out and speak on behalf of the board. Maybe Lawwell felt by speaking out it’d sound too much like the dreaded vote of confidence.

I wonder how long the goodwill will last. Would a cup exit against Ross County be the final straw? If not, you’d have to start to think they’ll stick with him until summer.

  14. Good morning, friends from a delightfully gorgeous, dry, crisp, bright East Kilbride. LIfe goes on.

  15. Good morning from a wet North Staffs

Don’t buy this conspiracy to lose the league – at the moment we’re just poor.

  16. GEEBEE 1978

Just maybe they’ll stick with” HIM ” to win us the

Quadruple treble, he’s quite good at that.

    H.H. Mick

  17. GENE on 28TH NOVEMBER 2020 9:18 AM

The conspiracy of us wanting to lose the league really is up there with the “fake” moon landing for me.

If they wanted to lose the league, why break the bank for Duffy? Why sign Ajeti? Why retain any of our big players (although letting one or two go might not have been the end of the world in hindsight)?

  18. Ernie Lynch @ 9.05

No i don’t , Lawwell has always favoured the cheap option .

Even when we were loaded before the pandemic.

    Is owen coyle available yet

  19. MELBOURNE MICK on 28TH NOVEMBER 2020 9:20 AM

    Possibly….so sentiment trumps the title?

There’s a possibility the league could be over by the cup final – if it isn’t already.

And why the “him” in quotation marks? I’d already referred to Lennon by name in the previous paragraph so using the pronoun next time around is completely valid. Or does grammar have to go out of the window too?

  20. GEEBEE 1978

Sorry about that, so many sticking the boot in now.

    I realise that’s not your m.o.

Had a few today , celebrating our forefathers, ktf.
