‘THERE’S NO WAY WE’LL UNDERESTIMATE CELTIC,’ BAYERN STAR

BAYERN MUNICH star Thiago has warned his team-mates NOT to underestimate Celtic in their Champions League crunch in midweek.

The former Barcelona midfielder knows all about the Hoops as he was part of the Spanish giants that lost 2-1 in Glasgow in a memorable European night in 2012.

The Spanish international vowed to give Brendan Rodgers’ side they deserve in Germany in the first of this month’s double-header.

Thiago said: “I was at Barca when we played Celtic five years ago when we lost.

“It was a weird game. I think we had the most possession of a team in any game of football.

“Suddenly, they scored the late goal and ended up winning the game. That is football. You can play like that and win.

“It shows what can happen in any game, but we will prepare well.

“We will look at all aspects of the game against Celtic and we will be ready for them.

“I expect a tough game. They are a good team and it will be like a game against an English team.

“They are always great games and Celtic will be difficult opponents.

“Of course, I know all about Brendan Rodgers. He did a great job at Liverpool.

”We have to win three points against Celtic to get away as far away from third place as possible. That is the most important thing and what we are focusing on.”

Bayern looked back to their best as they hammered Freiburg 5-0 at the weekend in Jupp Heykes’ first game back after replacing Carlo Ancelotti.
