There’s only one John Guidetti

1256

I’m beginning to believe some of the ‘Unseen..’ paranoia that goes around town myself.  Absolutely delighted, and a bit surprised, Fifa ratified John Guidetti’s transfer to Celtic.  He’s a player we have tried to buy for three consecutive summer transfer windows; this guy has been watched, courted and pursued by Celtic, Feyenoord, Ajax and no doubt a whole lot more.

Since his marquee season in Rotterdam he’s come through debilitating illness but is now healthy, if in need of some match sharpness.

He is ineligible for the Europa League group stage but will be available for the round of 32 through to the final in Warsaw.

There was a real meeting of minds between player and club on Monday; he liked the way we went about our business and people at the club were impress with his personality.  Apparently, he’s another “strong character” to add to the others who have arrived at the club over the last week.

If only we had a song for him….

  1. Ah well celtic roller coaster. We shall see. I will be very concerned in the event of a yes vote. Will have a very big decision to make.

I’ve seen the side of Scotland you describe, I’ve been seen as as a token Tim in some groups in the past, sometimes by the group itself (didn’t entertain those for long, and some I brought down), but, I can’t help think of the fact that they will be the staunchest of no’s. Is that just their short sightedness, or do they fear the glare of the spotlight that is missing in this back water of the current uk, where shady dealings go unremarked, and overshadowed by the ‘uk’ media ( read London).

  3. So a company with 2000 employees is just going to up and out….because of a Yes vote.?

…but there is a 3% cut in corporation tax coming their way….

    I think not.

  4. Neganon2, hypothetical scenario.

    No vote.

    Boris PM.

    Euro out vote.

    Farage as Homeland Sec.

Would you regret a No vote?

    All hypothetical, but not ridiculous.

  5. Blantyretim.l in England no one bats an eyelid if you are a catholic. In Scotland it’s very different. You like James Forrest believe we can influence it. All that massive 16% of the scottish population. I asked for a FOI request from police Scotland a while back in numbers of Catholics in the police force. Weirdly they won’t give it to me until 16th sept. I wonder why….

Scotland is instupitutionally sectarian to its core.

    It will get worse.

If we vote for independence lots of big personal decisions will be made.

Excluding the Clutha incident (just to be clear) , Mr Murphy has much baggage, but I would imagine that the MP gravy train is fully booked and why I previously have lost of all faith in the current political system. See my previous link from before re expenses re baggage.

I’m still undecided myself. If it is a Yes victory there will undoubtedly be employment casualties, it is inevitable unfortunately due to the global economy.

I have tried to garner as much information as possible, from both arguments to sway my vote. sadly, both sides have still to convince me either way as of yet.

The William Wallace in me wants to vote Yes, the CBI in me wants to vote No. The only consolation I have is that every man, woman and 16 yr old are dealing with the same dilemma.

  9. Doc I wouldn’t regret a no vote because we will be in a much worse position with a yes vote. We will be staring at our collective navels for deceased to come. But equally a vote to leave the EU would be disasterous.

But my English friends and I are in this together.

Got a lot more in common with them than most people here.

I hope, post vote, we can shake hands, move on, and for a time at least and work for the future, whatever it may hold.

    Regardless of the result.

    And cheer on the Hoops.

  14. Just been thinking, who’s going to buy all those big houses in Bearsden/Milngavie/Mearns and etc. when all these NO voters leave the country when us YES voters win the referendum?

  17. neganon2,

If your thinking is that Catholics will be more put down, if independence is voted in, why are the unionists marching in Edinburgh in favour of a no vote?

The vast majority of huns in my work are vocal no voters.

I’ll vote yes, after a lot of deliberation, religion and the crown has not came into the equation.

Just what I personally think what will be best for my kids.

  18. Well just another tim. For the record I agree with your sentiment. The vote for independence is an emotional one and is understandable. But the cold hard reality of the world means it will economically be incredibly painful. Despite wee eck pretending it will be all sunshine and roses I think most people get the hardship. I posted last night about borrowing. I work in the finance industry. Scotland will have a very poor credit rating as it goes it alone. It’s not personal but no one knows what the hell Scotland will be like. So lenders will charge a premium.

It will be very tough particularly with the promises about free everything and taxes for corporations and people being lowered or kept the same.

It’s a fantasy land. People will have choices. We have structural disadvantages in our location and rural nature.

We will survive but it will be pretty horrible.

I am honestly not trying to change anyone’s mind. It’s too late for that.

But it’s important we go into it with our eyes wide open.

Farage might get a seat, if he does, the Tories will not be in government.

Would you regret a No vote?

It will be a NO vote because we are not insular, or stupid.

    All hypothetical, but not ridiculous.

  21. I was talking to my old friend tonight and he said to me what better gift can we leave our children and grandchildren than the guarantee that they will NEVER have to live under a Tory westminster government if they dont want to.

Thats my last word on it.

  22. Sipsini they are voting no because they believe in queen and country. They are mired in their own stupidity. It’s a coincidence that we will vote the same. But you already know that and this smear campaign against no voters is more evidence of why I am worried.

You believe it’s in the best interests of your kids. I think it’s against the best interests of mine. I’m lucky. I have lots of choices and I am likely to take them.

Jesus, man, what age are you? You are either 79 and a half or full of shite. You are at least one of the above, probably the two.

In 1953 Queen Elizabeth was crowned, which started a chain of events which led to post office pillar boxes being blown up. The reason for this was the insignia E II R. For those who don’t know the background, Scotland never had a Queen Elizabeth I, Queen Elizabeth I was an English Queen who ruled England.

1953. 61 years ago. When you were icuttin aboot Scottishlands? And you still go out jiggin? Roaster, indeed.

  24. Left click you will be surprised hat a scottish government will do in you r name. I ask it again. Why didn’t we already raise taxes in Scotland if we are so socially responsible?

See if I told you a story of discrimination I personally have suffered several times in my life by my fellow Catholics because I was not Catholic enough for their liking and that conversely the people who have treated me best throughout my life were actually non-Catholics when I lived in Scotland full time….

    what would you say?

  26. Was listening to shortbread at lunchtime. Had a “polling expert” on from I think YOUGUV.

He said that they had been carrying out polls on the referendum for years and that the latest polls showed that YES were behind by 3% in terms of an overall majority.

He also stated that the number of undecided had been steadily decreasing and that 2 out of 3 undecided were coming down on the YES side.

Interestingly he was then asked if the remaining undecided also came out on the YES side on the same ratio what would be the final outcome. He stated that it be impossible to then call the result i.e. 50/50

If momentum is on the YES side then I can see a narrow win for YES.

  27. Batsman not sure of your point. But our world is unpredictable. More so now than ever. I think division in a competitive world in really counter productive.

We will repent in leisure (in many cases literally).
