I’m beginning to believe some of the ‘Unseen..’ paranoia that goes around town myself. Absolutely delighted, and a bit surprised, Fifa ratified John Guidetti’s transfer to Celtic. He’s a player we have tried to buy for three consecutive summer transfer windows; this guy has been watched, courted and pursued by Celtic, Feyenoord, Ajax and no doubt a whole lot more.
Since his marquee season in Rotterdam he’s come through debilitating illness but is now healthy, if in need of some match sharpness.
He is ineligible for the Europa League group stage but will be available for the round of 32 through to the final in Warsaw.
There was a real meeting of minds between player and club on Monday; he liked the way we went about our business and people at the club were impress with his personality. Apparently, he’s another “strong character” to add to the others who have arrived at the club over the last week.
If only we had a song for him….

Really now looking forward to the season. Despite the success of the last three years, I was bored watching most games last year….with the odd exception….it was very un exciting. Number of new guys, kid making a breakthrough, retained some really good players. This could be fun.
Great to be a Celt !
P.S. I strongly admire most Swedish players
P.P.S. Here’s hoping the management team are up to it (I believe they will be)

We shouldn’t expect too much too soon though. He needs to get his fitness levels up.
I’m sure some posters on here will give up to 35 minutes…
I watched some tv program (a lot in Dutch) following him and his girlfriend in Rotterdam during his Feyenoord days. It wasn’t just his talent, which impressed, it was his character. Real passion, real guts and a real sense of decency as a person. His days of playing football, as the only white kid in and around the slums of Nairobi with much older street kids (His father was a teacher) toughened him up and shaped him as much as a person, as it did a footballer.
He has much to prove, he may not regain past form, but if he has the desire and dedication he once did, anything is possible.
we might not be able to hold on to him longer term, but this guy will buy in completely to all things celtic.
I couldn’t tell you when last as was as excited by a signing.
Xmas is early this year.
What is the Stars, I too am unconvinced but am prepared to give him more time. However due to his contacts at Man City, he has got us loans of Denayer & Guidetti. He has brought in Mubarak & The Serb & Tonev. I wouldn’t count Berget I reckon he was just a 4 month short term fix and will be gone by Christmas. Wouldn’t count Gordon either as I reckon that deal was cooking pre Ronny. A huge factor in judging a Manager is his eye for a player, lets see the quality he has brought in. There are many other Managerial qualities that he will need to exhibit, and yes, he has got off to a rocky start but calling for his head at this stage says more about you then in does about Ronny.
Can we roll back to 96 and make Jorge Cadette eligible?

Surely the time to judge the manager is after he has played some games with the HIS team?
I’m as gutted as you about maribor and legia but that was Lennys team and 3 or 4 never tried a leg.
We would have sacked Neil and Gordon on your thinking based on how they started. Europe included.
I am hopeful we have got a gem of a manager.
He has been brutally honest and no take it on the chin cap.
Hail hail
what is the stars
I been through them all on here, why I think he’ll be huge success.
The end result will be all of us walking to the game like this.

I am delighted that we have signed both strikers and I will wait to see how both go but the revisionism and clapping on here tonight is incredible.
We had a 93 day transfer window in which time we were knocked out of the Champions League Qualifiers twice, we waited until not only day 93 of the window but until around a quarter to midnight in John Gaudetti’s case and there are people still trying to blame other outside agencies for the fact that he can’t play in the EL.
Picture yourself doing something similar in your own workplace, the likely result is that your arse wouldn’t hit the floor on the way out, followed closely by your P45 or whatever it’s called these days, whistling swifly past your earhole.

Guidetti doesn’t seem to be the shy and retiring sort…..

Just watched JG on you tube, he’s no right in the hied.
Fit in, doon the brazen right enough.
Johnniem,
Thanks for your post on the character of our new Italian, Kenyan Swede……….very very encouraging.
No more boring Celtic games !
Despite the colossal disappointment of the CL fiasco I’m actually looking forward to the rest of the season.
When was the last time we had what appear to be two proper CF’s on our books?
With Gordon in goal , VVD ( and keeping him was huge ) and Denayar in defence, Broony and Commons in midfield/ playing just off the strikers and 2 proper CF’s we might, might just have gotten the spine of our team sorted.
When was the last time we could say that?
There’s only one John Guidetti,
he puts the ball in the netty,
the bhoy’s a Swede,
the huns are deid,
walking in Guidetti wonderland!

That’s the best one yet.

Personally I think his days at Man City are over mate.
Keep the Faith!
Hail Hail!
antipodean red, Have you ever heard the expression “Better late then never”. Well that’s how I feel. Its highly likely that these players were not available until the last minute. Man City were probably looking to sell the lad for a few million as he is almost out of contract. When they didn’t and time was running out I would suggest that Ronny’s links to the Club put us in pole position to snap him up on loan. Obviously would have loved to have got them in earlier but “Better *****.

Very rarely do I get excited by a signing, but today I am, and am absolutely delighted John has joined us.
I’m never going to think for a minute, second even, he’s going to be as prolific as our favourite Swede – the King of Kings – but I got a real good feeling about this one. We can but hope he can emulate some of Henke’s magic.
Hopefully by this time next year we’ve a new (and permanent) hero to worship.
WELCOME TO PARADISE JOHN!
Neganon and ant’ red are right, why did we do ought transfer builds so late in the day?
Anyway those are questions we’ll never get the answers to.
Looking forward to seeing what team Fonny puts on the park once everyone settles in. Would be great if he could win over the doubters and unite the support a bit more than they are at present.
Lennybhoy 18.07. Agreed mate, it was an entirely different Man City who brought in this lad. If he does well with us he will attract a lot of interest though.
Walking through Brigton today. Maybe I imagine it but some really sad and demoralised looking geezers standing outside the local Sevco boozers.

It’s a difficult one ….
My concern is he bangs them in and we simply facilitate him in obtaining a big contract elsewhere
With his recent record it makes sense to have taken him on loan tho

Yip, that is the fear that he will attract offers from a few Clubs.
Keep the Faith!
Hail Hail!
Benvenuto a Celtic John.
How’s your Italian?

Glad to see the Swede finally turn-up(ip)
OK…….ah know……ah’ll get ma coat again!!

Sorry for spelling mistakes big fat finger syndrome :)
Happy days! Common the Celts!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Home from hospital, comfortably numb on the opiates, good news on the singing front…
only downsize was missing out on the fruit from DD….
lurking as my spelling improves when high. Not good for my blog profile. ?
I don’t want to be moving the guy on already but if he is much sought after at the end of his time with us it means he has done something right. Hopefully in Europe.
