For decades complaints from you, your fathers and their fathers before them were dismissed.  Your accusations that your club and its supporters followed the rules, while others ignored them, were roundly derided as paranoia – a mental illness, no less.

If we’re being generous…..  there’s no denying some of us are paranoid (several million comments on CQN provides at least some evidence), but not most of you, and not on the central theme on which these accusations were based.

Get to bed early tonight, tomorrow the truth will out.  I’ll leave you with a Nat King Cole mood setter to help you chill.  If you watch it until the end you’ll see him mimicking playing a flute, memories of a happier time, for some.

One last memory before bed. I was in the Ibrox enclosure under the stand trying to get some shelter from the rain for the 2-2 game.

At half time I got hit by a dive bombing hun pigeon. Everyone but me thought it was lucky.

Given the level of feeling on the terracing I was astonished to see the players shaking and embracing warmly after the game.

  3. Just watched Paul67’s video in the lead article, Nat King Cole does that sooooo well. I recommend it to you all, it’s a great way to start the day, i’m away to walk wee Riley!

I suspect there will be last-minute attempts to spike the Daly prog tonight?

Aunt Beeb know the game is up and someone somewhere has decreed it’s time for some serious news on a story they sat on – the intervention of Mr Thompson on CH4 will have helped stir them to action

Can I ask would you subscribe to any of the following ideals and aspirations?

    ———————-

We ask that the government undertake the obligation above all of providing citizens with adequate opportunities for employment and earning a living.

The activities of the individual must not be allowed to clash with the interests of the community, but must take place within its confines and for the good of all. Therefore, we demand:…an end to the power of the financial interests.

We demand profit sharing in big business.

We demand a broad extension of care for the aged.

We demand…the greatest possible consideration of small business in the purchases of the national, state and municipal governments.

In order to make possible to every capable and industrious [citizen] the attainment of higher education and thus the achievement of a post of leadership, the government must provide an all-around enlargement of our entire system of public education…We demand the education at government expense of gifted children of poor parents…

The government must undertake the improvement of public health — by the greatest possible support for all clubs concerned with the physical education of youth.

[We] combat the…materialistic spirit withn and without us, and are convinced that a permanent recovery of our people can only proceed from within on the foundation of The Common Good Before the Individual Good .

  14. I see the Kilmarnock chairman is up to his old -let’s save r******* routine again .

If this guy spent as much time sorting his own club out as he does trying to save the Huns , then Kilmarnock would be in a much healthier financial position .

Maybe if he grew a pair and stood up to the tax avoiding , dual contract paying playground bully then Scottish football would be in a much better place.

This guy is on a par with Dungcaster , instead of punishing the cheats they want to protect them .

How’s this for a quote – ” you have to be careful if you are trying to protect a football club which is a very long standing and historical institution .

You have to take care not to come in to heavily with penalties and points deductions which actually put people off investing in that club and trying to make it healthy. ”

Re BBC1 tonight at 8pm, not 100% but think i am right. Only on BBC Scotland but if you have SKY you should get it on channel 975, even abroad. Rented a villa in Majorca couple of years ago with SKY & was able to watch Reporting Scotland every night, sad I know. Good luck.

  16. Good morning CQNers,

Reading through the overnight posts it’s startling to see a theme develop where we’re prouder of our supporter’s performance rather than that of our team, now that’s a strange development and something that is a little perturbing.

Is the new media driving a new mindset where the supporters are more important than the team?

Paul67 has signposted today as an important day for some time and my wish is that Mark Daly’s programme concentrates the debate to the criminality involved at Rangers and doesn’t, as predicted elsewhere, produce a new target for Rangers supporters wrath by pointing the finger at the mishandling of the administration by Duff and Phelps.

    the

    to

    Rhodes.

The Hoops boss, who hopes a deal can be

concluded for Fraser Forster over the next

24 hours, has now made the red-hot

Huddersfield Town striker his top target

after he lost out on Latvian Artjoms

    Rudnevs to Hamburg.

Celtic were willing to pay £3 million for

Rudnevs and now Lennon wants his club to

meet the Terriers asking price and table the

    same amount for 40-goal Rhodes.

Lennon wants the offer made before

Huddersfield go into this weekend’s League

One play-off final with Sheffield United.

West Ham United, Fulham and Bolton are

all keen but the Scotland under-21

international would prefer to move to Celtic.

Rhodes doesn’t believe he would get

regular football if he moved to the Premier

League and would rather build-up his

reputation in Scotland and in the Champions

League, like Gary Hooper has done, than be

a fringe player in England’s top flight.

  21. FC Taxdodger’s new cheerleader has spoken…

MICHAEL JOHNSTON has again urged SPL clubs NOT to hammer crisis-torn Rangers next week.

Kilmarnock chief Johnston claims clubs must be wary of wrecking Charles Green’s rescue by piling on more punishment.

But his comments will enrage rivals who have called for heavy sanctions should Gers try to bounce back into the SPL as a newco.

Johnston said: “You have to be careful if you’re trying to protect a club which is a very long-standing and historical institution.

“You have to be very careful not to come in too heavily with penalties and points deductions or financial penalties which actually put people off investing in that club and trying to make it healthy.”

Johnston is among Hampden top brass who will consider fresh penalties next week if Gers become a newco.

The Ibrox club have already been hit with a points deduction, Euro ban, £160,000 fines and a transfer embargo and face further crippling financial punishment.

Johnston added: “It’s not the new owners who have done the damage — it is the previous owners.

“Some people in football have overlooked the fact Rangers were penalised ten points, the maximum penalty under SPL rules, which effectively ended their title challenge.

“They were then refused a UEFA licence by the SFA and so can’t compete in Europe next year.

“The third penalty they have suffered already is the fine combined with the one-year embargo on signing new players over 18.

“Those are three very substantial penalties that Rangers have suffered.

“The European ban and the signing embargo are likely to effect the newco or Rangers under a CVA.

“So how many more penalties should be piled on top of a club that is trying to recover from a desperate situation?

“And a group of people who have no part to play in the bad things that happened in the past?”

SPL chairmen will meet at Hampden next week to consider sanctions on newco clubs and increased penalties for clubs that go into administration.

Green plans to push for a newco if a CVA is rejected by Gers’ creditors on June 6.

But harsh sanctions from SPL clubs could place Green’s bid under serious jeopardy.

Johnston said: “There are a few things that needed ironing out.

“We need to know who the investors and the Green consortium are, and there is also the SPL’s investigation into the dual contract situation.

“I can’t exclude the possibility there will be further penalties.

“All I am saying is people should remember three significant penalties have already been imposed on Rangers.”

Johnston’s plea could fall on deaf ears if other chairmen have their way.

St Johnstone supremo Steve Brown claimed last night a newco Gers MUST be punished.

He added: “If I’ve got a vote I will not let Rangers in without sanctions.

“The feeling from the people I’ve spoken to from within the chairmen’s ranks is they won’t let Rangers in with a ‘get out free card’.

“There has to be some form of punishment.”

Johnstone is an arse regarding hun punishment. By his logic, It’s like saying if you have already punished someone for petty theft, breach of the peace and shoplifting, then they shouldn’t get punished again when it is discovered that they have also committed murder.
