WILFRIED NANCY was the figure of utter dejection as he walked down the tunnel with his head bowed moments after the final whistle following Celtic’s 3-1 loss to Rangers at Parkhead this afternoon.
The Frenchman had just witnessed the champions lose for a SIXTH time in only his eighth game in charge as the furious fans vented their anger inside and outside the ground.
The intense pressure is growing on Nancy and there must now be serious questions over his appointment.
Interim manager Martin O’Neill actually won seven encounters during his stint over the same eight-game period.
But it has been mainly all downhill since the arrival of Nancy at the beginning of last month with four consecutive losses the worst in the club’s history for a new team chief.

THE FACE OF DEFEAT…Wilfried Nancy after his sixth loss in eight games.
He suffered setbacks against Hearts (1-2), AS Roma (0-3), St Mirren (1-3) and Dundee United (1-2) in a horrendous sequence of results.
There was brief respite with a 3-1 victory over 10-man Aberdeen and 4-2 success against rock-bottom Livingston before Tuesday night’s reverse against Motherwell at Fir Park followed by this latest shocker against Danny Rohl’s side who are now equal on points with the stumbling champions.
The Hoops dominated the first-half, but only had one goal from Yang Hyun-jun to show for their superiority.
The roof fell in when the Ibrox side netted three after the turnaround with a double from Youseff Chermiti and another from Mikey Moore with home defenders Anthony Ralston, Auston Trusty and Kasper Schmeichel involved in a catalogue of calamity to gift goals to the opposition.
Pressed on speculation surrounding his future, Nancy, replying to Sky Sports, said: “Yes, I can understand that. This is part of my job.
“For me, nothing changes. My focus is to help my players to be better, to help my team and staff to be better and to find a way to turn things around.
“We are really close to doing good things, but when we concede goals sometimes, this is difficult.
“I want to win games. We all want to win games. But this is the reality for the moment. But I see many, many good things.
“That’s why the frustration is here, because we deserve better. And we have to stay together and everything’s going to move forward.
“Keep working, keep doing what we want to do.
“And things will work out for us.”
The big question now must be if the Parkhead powerbrokers will extend that time for Nancy to follow up on his promise.
