Until recent times, the Newco penalty kick win over Celtic in the 2016 Scottish Cup semi-final was the greatest day in the club’s history. They celebrated like it was a Petrofac Cup win all over again. The teams have met twice in Scottish Cup business since, Celtic scored six over the two dates without reply, a merit scarcely recalled among our incredible achievements in recent seasons.
Our subsequent 21 games in the competition brought 21 wins, 20 within the 90 minutes. Hearts and Partick Thistle scored a total of seven goals against us in that period, all the others put together managed to score just twice (Aberdeen and St Mirren getting one each). In the history of spherical objects, Celtic’s domination of the Scottish Cup has never been matched. This is our trophy.

You are right, this squad produced a shameful defence of our title in the most important record season. They have shown their lack of team spirit and cannot be trusted to beat anyone far less Sevco with their tails up after their crushing league win.
However, in the last game they showed some form and are perfectly capable of beating Sevco. MIB is a problem as the refs are going for a record season themselves. No penalties against Sevco and No Sevco orderings off.

One other point on this Sevco Sparta nonsense I take it UEFA have condoned the locking out of dressing room for over 45 mins by Sevco for the Sparta team

For me the Scottish Cup Tie with the sevconians is only of interest in as much as it will have a direct impact on our strategy re the new manager, it’s all about the new manager, put us out of our misery ffs.

There will be no action taken against the Ibrox club should the Celtic team be verbally abused when alighting, or boarding the team bus. That would constitute strict liability – all SPFL clubs voted against it.
However there is another avenue Celtic could take that could address this issue and the dramatic differences in Covid disciplinary procedures between ourselves and the Ibrox club this season.
The SFA’s treatment of Covid breaches in cahoots with the SNPcult, has materially affected us in both the league and the Scottish Cup this season – no doubt the Ibrox line-up will contain at least one player who should be banned from playing. The last time we were at Ibrox the mob was allowed with a couple of metres of our players to inflict their sectatian hatred.
As far as I am concerned, the Scottish Cup is of little value to Celtic this season – it has been an horrendous campaign – let’s leave it at that.
In order to show our displeasure and utter contempt for the SFA….and remember this is their competition; I suggest that the Celtic team takes the field in normal fashion and when the referee calls the captains to the centre-circle for the toss-up, our captain leads the team off the pitch – we do not play the game.
Now I know this will not happen – but if players/teams are about to be allowed to ‘walk-off’ because of a whispered comment in the ear of one player, perhaps this kind of protest could be understood.
I say one thing if it ever did happen – the SFA would immediately tighten-up their suspension & appeals procedure.
