This is the point of Celtic

448

It has been two weeks since Celtic Park’s last outing as a football venue.  From this week, it becomes a socially=distanced dinning location for around 250 people, including frontline NHS staff.  The Celtic FC Foundation’s initial response is to provide £150k to stock local foodbanks and support charity partners in their efforts to cater for out most needy in this time.

For the time being, Celtic is no longer a football club; it is a source for good to a community that needs it, just as it was in 1888, when the first ball was kicked.  No other club is Britain has responded with the same resources or vision, but no other club has our heritage.

Today, most of us are concerned about our immediate families and there is nothing wrong with this.  But some people are ‘out there’ in our name.  There may be little you can do for this effort today, but we will have the opportunity soon enough.  Be proud of your club and know that, as Celtic fans, we have a social responsibility, otherwise, what’s the point?

    From BBC site ;

” I don’t believe there is any club in Scotland – and I mean any club in Scotland – that can survive six-to-nine months of this,” Cormack said.” Cormack is the Aberdeen chairman.

  7. How long before Shortie do a “story” on the skint huns and the awful financial position they are in………………or is wee nasty and the salt’n’sauce huns as close as they get?

  8. Given government have now instructed non-essential businesses to stop trading is it not now possible for clubs to go to their insurers I.e business break clauses pps given PL’s risk averse approach to business one would imagine celtic will have every insurance cover possible. The talk of giving hayes a new contact surely confirms that. Dont get all worried about the celtic.

  13. For the past 2 weeks I’ve been getting my virus news from a mixture of Sky and BBC.

In that time I’ve watched zero hard questioning of government, no reports from our front line hospitals, just mainly advice and reports from European countries of how hard the virus is hitting THEM.

Then you think well already we have nearly 3 hundred deaths, why no reports on how our NHS is coping?

It’s all a bit surreal, the reporting gives the impression everything is fine here but just be careful.

I couldn’t escape a nagging feeling that I’m not getting the full story here which almost just almost justifies our lax attitude that so many here have to this deadly disease.

I then channel hopped and found myself on channel 4 news.

Within 3 minutes i had a totally different story as if it was different countries they were reporting on.

The health minister was being grilled for lack of action, preparedness and supplies.

That report was followed by a mystery NHS worker whose voice was changed detailing the utter chaos hospitals were facing, lack of staff as so many were removed because of lack of testing and showing signs of illness. Staff giving up on government and sourcing their own supplies.

If we can’t have balanced reporting in a time of crisis when can we, this protecting the government by Sky and BBC will cost lives.

To think the conservatives think BBC are biased against them a bit like Sevco do, yet the truth is Sevco and the Tories are being protected at every turn. Shame on BBC and Sky, democracy my arse.

I think it comes down to a matter of degrees

sarcasm – from the Latin, translates to something like – a rabid dog tearing the flesh of a bone….

so, sarcasm is rather extreme, irony a little less so….

  15. 3 week lockdown of UK.

All shops to close unless selling food or meds.

Police to enforce ban of public gatherings of 2 or more people.

Does that mean they are stopping flights coming in from Italy and Iran.

Will they be stopping internal intercity flights, trains and buses.

Aye, the Torys were serious about controlling he spread eh.

They ensured their heard immunity strategy was implemented before any action was taken.

Today,I went to the shop, came home, then went for a walk

Tomorrow, I can do the exact same

  20. Likewise !!Bada Bing!!

Went to shop then took dog out. He got walked at https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Eastern_Cemetery_(Louisville)

Some eerie stats on the old cemetery.

“the most over-buried cemetery in America”

“By the mid 19th century, mass paupers’ graves were used for burial in Eastern Cemetery. As of January 2017, the site has about 16,000 graves, and documentation for about 138,000 bodies.”

Scary stuff right around the corner from my house.
