It has been two weeks since Celtic Park’s last outing as a football venue. From this week, it becomes a socially=distanced dinning location for around 250 people, including frontline NHS staff. The Celtic FC Foundation’s initial response is to provide £150k to stock local foodbanks and support charity partners in their efforts to cater for out most needy in this time.
For the time being, Celtic is no longer a football club; it is a source for good to a community that needs it, just as it was in 1888, when the first ball was kicked. No other club is Britain has responded with the same resources or vision, but no other club has our heritage.
Today, most of us are concerned about our immediate families and there is nothing wrong with this. But some people are ‘out there’ in our name. There may be little you can do for this effort today, but we will have the opportunity soon enough. Be proud of your club and know that, as Celtic fans, we have a social responsibility, otherwise, what’s the point?

This gov had ample warning to take action – more so than the Italians – and they chose to do nothing. Worse than that, they pursued their ludicrous ‘herd immunity’ policy until they suddenly realised it would cost 200000 lives and had to suddenly change track. And even then they’ve dragged their heels and every day they’ve delayed coming to this point will cause people to die.
The mayor of Bergamo has decided to fly his daughters (who are studying in the uk) back home because the uk response has been too slow and they will be better off in Italy ffs.

I have no desire to indulge in narrow politicising as we enter the biggest national emergency of my lifetime.
So no personal polemics about the PM, his background or his capabilities.
But I will say (again) our leaders have failed us and that failure is likely to result in many, otherwise preventable, deaths.
They failed strategically years and decades ago. Our NHS creaked during “normal” times.
Too few doctors.
Too few nurses.
Too few acute care beds.
Too few ventilators.
Our new leaders have compounded that strategic failure by failing tactically.

We all share a responsibility to be mindful of official requirements and guidance and to help keep each other safe during these tough times, and the safety and wellbeing of our supporters, our staff and the wider community remain the Club’s top priority as together, we work our way through the COVID-19 crisis.
Given the developments regarding the COVID-19 pandemic as it affects all the Club’s premises and the requirements of national and local government, including the Prime Minister and the First Minister this evening, we have therefore taken the decision to temporarily close the Celtic Park Ticket Office and all of our stores in the UK and Ireland from tonight.
While we know this is an uncertain time for many, we also know how important it is to have a sense of normality to our day to day life.
For those who are still looking to shop with us, our products are still available online at Celticfc.net/store, where you can make use of our home delivery service. Our team here will be doing our best to keep things moving safely and with as much normality as possible for as long as we can.
In these uncertain times we have also had thousands of you renew your Season Ticket and we would like to thank you for this commitment which we do not take lightly. On a daily basis, we are experiencing a number of supporters wishing to renew in person. Any supporters wishing to access the My Celtic Network account or any fans wishing to renew Season Tickets at this time, can do so at eticketing.co.uk/celtic. GP- I think the Club needs to rethink ST renewals at this time. Nobody knows when this season will end,and how many games we will play next season, in what format? Folk worrying about jobs,mortgages etc,will prioritize that more than paying £666 for a ST just now, a nominal fee of say £25,should secure your ST IMO HH

Thank you for your e-mail that I received tonight from your commercial arm during this difficult time. I also share your concerns about COVID-19 and the potential effect it could have on my family, friends and fellow Celtic supporters.
I’m sure countless numbers of our faithful fans, who cannot work during this period with many of them worried about paying their rent and feeding their families, are champing at the bit to purchase Celtic merchandise and renew their season tickets for a season that may not even commence.
I trust you have some mechanism in place to hold this season ticket money in a Trust ready for repayment should season 2020 – 2021 not materialise?
Perhaps during this period of football inactivity the PLC Board could become somewhat more proactive when tackling the SFA over Resolution 12 and provide us with a satisfactory outcome to this matter.
