This level of subjugation requires a cooperative loser

230

If in the 90s, you predicted Celtic would win 12 titles in 13 years by 2024, they would walk away from you.  Back then, I took Deapthroat’s advice and followed the money, I knew that David Murray’s leveraged success would ‘crash and burn’ [quote: my brother Kevin, every 20 minutes from 1992-1998], but never in my wildest’ did I expect the domination to be so utterly complete.  You would be forgiven for thinking this level of subjugation requires a cooperative loser.

It. Is. All. About. The Money.  You and I have to live within our means; under normal circumstances, it comes naturally, we don’t buy luxuries if we can’t pay the fuel bill.  For reasons that we could explore further, some men (it’s always men), think that advocating for the spend of imprudently large amounts of money on football players is a test of their [fragile]manhood.  Why can’t they just buy the blue pills instead of compensating through all this drama?

19 years ago, while Celtic were on their way to losing a league, I wrote that we were in the early years of a Generation of Domination, which started in 2000.  There was a bit of pushback from the hard of thinking, but it was so obvious – Celtic were living within their means, Rangers were driving off a cliff.  There was no other plausible future.

In 2024, you don’t need a crystal ball to know the future of Scottish football.  We all know how it is going to play out, including the Newco board and fans.  But they are all too scared to face up to the reality and do the hard penance – a decade-or-so rebuilding from the ground up, to give their son’s son’s a chance of success.

And for the really hard of thinking, this doesn’t mean we will win every league/cup/game and Celtic will not compensate for whatever you are missing, we will just become and remain the most successful football club in the world.  Which is alright, I suppose.

Enjoy these Celtic years!

  1. Thought league was gone in Feb and said it on here, sometimes it’s nice to be proven wrong, some times it’s great, this falls into the latter. What this season did shows is we need more quality and depth, no problem with the younger guys coming in but we should never sign young player exclusively, kids need men to help them develop and to make sure the team is successful.

Given the numbers we need and the positions we should be all over scott mckenna on a free, leftback who is a quick powerful unit of a lad and at 27 heading into his peek years. O’hara on a free from Coventry is also a no brain, add a chunk of creativity to our midfield and that will be needed if o’reilly goes as expected.

Saves a chunk of money for a quality gk, leftback , powerful box to box midfielder, winger and forward.

Can see a big cull coming soon

I agree there may have been moments of concern(Chris Davies’ influence factor as an example) but I never really doubted Brendan’s ability to forge a winning team. From when they won the league cup and defeated Betis I perceived an element of bluster in Clement compared to a quiet, growing confidence and calmness in Brendan. Scottish football culture is way different to what Clement experienced in Belgium and France and I think it has taken him by surprise, especially the fans’ impatience and their reaction to defeat. Defeat at Genk, Brugge or Monaco is not comparable to losing at Ibrox or Dingwall and it seemed to startle him to the point where his post match analysis and press conference musings were becoming muddled and slightly tetchy. He’s an average coach, certainly not considered elite. He will never get a top job in England if that is where his ambitions lie. Rangers may well be the start of a downward spiral ending with a return to Genk or similar. Tant pis…

Spoke to the Ward Nurse yesterday, news not too bad, and was in touch with my cousin today and she updated me re his latest medication etc. Could be wrong but not sure what skillsets these Community Hospitals have available to them, which might limit the treatment options. So all in all not really too clear re diagnosis etc

  7. There used to be plentiful amounts of reasonable, knowledgable, comradely spirited Tims, not mean spirited, that wasn’t in evidence until the fake neo liberals so-called Tims in 2014, voted for sleekit degeneracy, and a No Trade Deal Outcome with BOTH of the UK and EU!!! 👀️ 💥️

Yeah 2014 the result still hasn’t been accepted by the so-called “Good Guys” which would have been the disaster to end all disasters from which, the Scottish people would only be rescued from this when unbelievable [If you are a glaikit glib Tim? ] levels of outbreaks of Hun Civil Unrest all over Scotland, making Manchester 2008 Uefa Final widespread riots look like Garden Fetes, which would bring to an immediate and terminal end to Any Scottish Parliament.

Only a fool or thousands of fools would vote for A political event when legitimate questions would only be answered After Indy had been achieved. 👀️💣️💥️

I have never known any Tim who would be so glaikit and and then be so glib about being so glaikit, any Celtic supporter who stood in the Jungle and said “I’m gonny vote SNP…” [Strictly No Papes ] the SNP were known as then, then that idiot Celtic supporter would be found lying on the ground at the front of the Jungle after receiving a scheme kicking.

Dumb fks were not very long in coming to their senses in those days. 👀️

But sadly those days are gone…and a core piece of the celebrated fabric has gone with it.

Never in many decades of watching Celtic winning titles and for me at least, and the late Wim Jansen’s son, who couldn’t stop raving to his friends in Holland about this breathtaking Celtic fans YNWA spectacle, that they booked an entire flight over to the next Celtic v Huns game after Wim was forced to resign, and it was 5-1 to the good guys, so after a League title win 25 years later the icing on the optics cake would be a spine tingling rendition of YNWA…it wasn’t sung once…not even in after match celebrations. 👀️

And on showcase games ie: European games the dickish Lawwell disco lights has hidden this optical spectacle and made YNWA look like one of Lawwells rubbishy project pishy players.

Talk about sabotage from within! 👀️

The Celtic fan sphere has gone from The Wolfetones to Wham, from The Clash to The Carpenters, from being almost closed down by David Murray and his crooked board, to going along with crooked Celtic PLC board’s cover up of what David Murray and his crooked board stole off of innocent tax payers and used the stolen EBT money to cheat Celtic and decades of Celtic supporters, And x 60,000 so-called Tims play along with the crooked Celtic boards Cover up of what the crooked Rangers board did? WTF? 👀️

I mean What The Fluck type of Timmy mind cannot see that and then goes along with it? 😶️

There will be no truth in Timdom until we get over ourselves and get a new executive which craves to be questioned…good honest straight up Employees who fear no foe and will answer each and every question and even teach by demonstrating how to ask a question and answer it without being conflicted by some foolish pc demands.

Fluk pc and the woke fairy fearty horse that it rode in on!

I wouldn’t call the x 60,000 “Celtic supporters” in the way in which Stein era Tims were called Celtic supporters…I would call the all seated Jungle-less era as the worst batch of Tims ever to be placed on the Timmy conveyor belt, probably by a Fakeugee who bluffed his way past all of the glaikit rainbow coloured pom-pom waving glibby everybodies mugs? 👀️

Yeah the “Johnny come lately” section of Tims who thought that it was ok to be cheap and sleekit and glib and lazy and still be referred to as “Tims” lol

It used to be everywhere you would go home or away, even CQN in the beginning had dozens of straight forward, straight talking Tims and they got banned courtesy of the corner shop knowledge box fairy fearties and their CQN witch hunting pile on crew lol.

  8. Celtic first won 3 leagues in a row in 1907.

This was also the first league and cup double.

They would go on to win 6 in a row. Commemorated with a shield presented to the club for a feat that they thought could never be repeated.

We won another 4 from 1913 to 1917.

Need to find the Dan drake interview he saw Celtic first game and witnessed all these events.

    Thanks for that interesting insight.

I’ve never seen the boy play and know nothing about him as a player. However your description suggests he wouldn’t fit into a Brendan team.

My view at the time was that signing a player because of who his father is wouldn’t be a sound judgement.

I also don’t like to see players written off as duds before we have seen them kick a ball.

The fact that BR knew of Adam as a player and chose to sign him was encouraging for me, as were Adam’s comments about Brendan speaking to him prior to his signing.

Both of these things suggested to me that he probably had attributes that could give him a reasonable chance of doing something for us.
