Thistle’s aim for top 6, the liquidator’s duty

490

It’s another big day in the title race as Aberdeen visit Firhill. Partick Thistle’s form has been up and down recently, losing to Hearts and Dundee United, beating St Johnstone home and away, winning and losing against Motherwell, all in their last six games. They have not won or lost by more than two goals win or defeat since November.

Aberdeen’s games since the turn of the year have also been tight, a 3-1 defeat at Inverness last month is the only occasion there has been more than a single goal in any of their games. It’s likely to be tight tonight.

A win would put Thistle into the top six, is it too much to ask…….

Natural justice would suggest that Rangers liquidators, BDO, should be allowed to appeal to the Supreme Court on the club’s creditors’ behalf (they were granted permission to appeal this morning). Rangers won the initial decision on a number of their players EBTs, and then the first appeal, so it’s clear there are finer points of law at play.

With Rangers now in liquidation, creditors may wonder why BDO are spending their (diminishing) pot of money on what is sure to be extravagant legal fees, especially as HMRC is the most influential creditor.  Liquidators have a responsibility to the creditors to dismiss any claims on creditors’ funds which cannot be substantiated.  If the liquidator wins at the Supreme Court, all creditors apart from HMRC will receive a higher payout.

I don’t imagine Supreme Court hearings and written judgements are arranged in a hurry, so put this one on the back burner for a while, but there remains a lot at play here.  I’ve tried to steer clear of the issue for a while now, as it’s little more than a distraction, but that’ll change should HMRC win in London.

Good luck to Thistle tonight.

Even though it was reposted twice for you you still couldn’t read it.

Then again you’re the special kind of moron that posts links to the ‘football is fixed’ website so only to be expected.

    Übertim,

I don’t know why I responded to that, your a liar and a jealous little man with half the brain you were born with, go crawl under your stone, better still go find evidence of what you accuse me of, go on, and when you can’t find what you are looking for continue to make it up.

I know exactly what I said and you are a liar.

I’m unlikely too either but it goes a long way to accounting for thousands of empty ST seats. I think most ST holder go to most games. They just rarely all go at once at the moment.

  5. There have been some very good, well argued posts today. in particular, I hope that the plc are digesting Auldheid’s suggestions, if he hasn’t already been in contact with them.

  6. I wouldn’t be getting too anxious at the prospect of there being some orange, masonic, oldco, sevco cabal at the Supreme court. I doubt the footballing tendencies of the English judges. Lord Hodge probably thinks footy is low class while lord reed was I understand a season ticket holder at CP.

On a separate note, can someone clarify for me – if I borrow £6million from a bank or even a mate and on a favourable no interest return, am I not £6million in debt? The Dave King debt free myth would be hilarious if so many of the gullible didn’t believe it!!!

  7. Traditionalist88,

I asked you yesterday if you could point out the reference to Morton in your original post of 12:39, the one I first replied to. I take it you didn’t see that comment of mine as I didn’t see any further comments from you at all on CQN until page 3 of this post. Which wasn’t a reply. Maybe you could’t find it either.

I would say that everyone is a trumpet, however some more than others.

I pay £20. A month to watch every hoops game except European ties on Celtic Tv

It’s not strictly allowed in UK (I live in Czech Republic now so don’t give me pelters) a wee app can cover your ass and you could watch Celts and pay club some cash!

I’m assuming you wouldn’t be going to live game anyway so every little helps

I calculated that 100,000 Celts doing that every month was worth £2m to the club and of course they couldn’t encourage it as it might infringe UK & Ireland rules.

AaaaaaAnd ….I hear you say :-)

But stuff that. Go for it, if it means the club getting some cash they can use for building a team we can be proud of.

I can hear the groans from the guys who can get to games and understand that sentiment – but pragmatic heids will see the benefits.

  11. Malceye –

Or to put that another way, if I was able to convince the bank to lend me £1million would that make me a millionaire? Of course not – indeed at the point of securing that loan I would be, at best, no better off (£1M in my account but owe the bank £1M).

For Dave King Yong to suggest that having no credit line (and therefore no possibility of owing any bank anything) is good news is absurd.

  12. beatbhoy, should have said if they were in spl and 4points behind celtic.

I actually agreed with your first response, along the lines of money talks and thats the only language the Scottish football powerbrokers understand.

Then you took exception to my comment:

‘All well and good, but the fact is if we were playing Barcelona or Real Madrid yesterday the place would be packed out.

So is it a statement of principle really or a statement about the quality of opposition? ‘

Which clearly indicates a reference to the Morton game on Sunday and a hint that the quality of opposition is a bigger factor than Celtic supporting continuation myth.

I don’t know this for sure obviously and we can only go on available evidence. Which you seem to have a problem with me pointing out.

That its still bothering you 24 hours later in bizarre.

  17. My friends in Celtic,

Just a quick point about attendance. Maybe trivial in the big scheme of things to some.

If we had a subway station right on our doorstep it would aid transportation to the ground, especially from the city centre.

We have buses that go from the city centre to both sides of the ground, but try getting on one for a big game. Ditto going back into the city centre.

Many elderly fans struggle walking from Belgrove, Duke St, Bridgeton or Dalmarnock railway stations. I think I remember hearing years ago about a dedicated link to our ground being mooted, but I guess that proposal died and is now confined to history , same as the original club who lived next to the underground in Glasgow.

Hail, Hail to these elderly fans who get socked in the process of supporting our team. They like many others deserve more than silence for their effort.

That is my first comment to you, in full. No reference to the Morton game (for you had no mention of Morton in your post). It was in reference to the upcoming Celtic SF; the match against The Rangers, which was the sole subject of your comment and how you would be going “ticket offer notwithstanding”.

The fact that your first comment on the blog almost 24 hours later contained a snide reference to our discussion would seem to indicate it is still on your mind. Especially, I would say by the needless namecalling you resorted to.

    ================

Yep, and as I told you, I agreed. So no point going over that. The disagreement came when you replied to dispute the Barcelona/Real Madrid comment, which contained a clear reference to the attendance at the Morton game on Sunday. Then you tried to muddy the waters by saying there was no reference to Morton in my original post.

Can you chew gum AND walk at the same time??

Actually I didn’t think that comment on Barcelona not being liquidated etc was yours so it wasnt a dig at you earlier. It was just a dig at a ridiculous comment which ironically turned out to be yours.

obviously not a CQN Elmer then

It’s a Celtic V ‘Rangers’ semi-final,and a man makes his way to his seat right next to the pitch. He sits down, noticing that the seat next to him is empty. He leans over and asks an older man, if someone will be sitting there. ‘No,’ says the man. ‘The seat is empty.’ ‘This is incredible,’ said the man. ‘Who in their right mind would have a seat like this for this game, and not use it?’ The old man says, ‘Well actually the seat belongs to me. I was supposed to come with my wife, but she passed away. This is the first ‘Old Firm’ game we haven’t been to together since we got married.’ ‘Oh, I’m so sorry to hear that. That’s terrible….But couldn’t you find someone else, a friend, relative or even a neighbour to take her seat?’ The man shakes his head. ‘No,’ he says. ‘They’re all at the funeral.

My pet hate about Hampden the walk from the buses. Don’t mention Easter RD

  27. There are a few harsh truths around Scoddish Fitba we have to live with:

    1) There will always be a Hun Monkey Soccer Franchise playing out of Govan, because purely from a business viewpoint it makes no sense to let a large body of willing subhuman underclass Hun monkey vermin go about their leisure pursuits/dispose of methadone sale cash/burn their giros without having an entity there as their ‘kultural’ figurehead in order to fleece their hateful ignorance.

    2) There is almost a generation of young Tims who don’t really know how it feels to face them in a regular season – these lads hitting their 20s and able to self-finance trips to Celtic games will thirst for some real adrenalin events that the Celtic v Hun Monkey Soccer Franchise games always produce. I wouldn’t deny the bhoys those days.

    3) The SFA will do Sweet F’ck All as per usual – mainly because it’s in their remit to maximise the cashflow and a prominent Hun Monkey Soccer Franchise boosts their sponsor coffers.

As for Celtic and statements – I would rather Celtic ignored the Hun Monkey reprobates completely, withold the oxygen of recognition and released forward-looking statments along the lines of planning beyond these narrow, bigoted horizons, statements outlining the club’s plans to work with solvent, law-abiding, thriving clubs to formulate a bigger, better euro-League; name the likes of Aberdeen, Feyenoord, etc. Let the Huns froth because they know full well that on a business level they’re distinctly nth-rate and so far off the radar as to be invisible to any future european football marketplace.
