FORMER Celtic striker Chris Sutton blasted blundering ref Craig Thomson for chalking off a perfectly good goal from Erik Sviatchenko in the 1-0 Betfred League Cup semi-final win yesterday.unspecified-53
The Danish defender jostled with veteran centre-half Clint Hill for a left-wing cross from Scott Sinclair before snapping a header beyond keeper Matt Gilks shortly after the interval.
There were no claims from the Ibrox players and the effort looked good to everyone – with the curious exception of the match official.
Sutton, who was at Hampden as a match summariser for BT Sport, said: “Erik Sviatchenko’s perfectly good goal was wrongly chopped off.

“I don’t want to get into a situation where I’m panning Craig Thomson all of the time, but he had an absolute shocker.

“I think he was conned by Clint Hill.
“There has been a kerfuffle about referees this season. All we are asking is that they get the big decisions right and once again he didn’t do that.”
