THREE CELTS GET ZERO RATINGS

THREE Celtic players were rated ZEROES by the Spanish media following the 2-0 Europa League loss to Valencia at Parkhead last night.

The AS newspaper was clearly unimpressed by Brendan Rodgers’ stars on an evening where they flopped to goals in each half from Daniel Cheryshev and Ruben Sobrino.

Jozo Simunovic, Dedryck Boyata and Oliver Burke were all ranked BLANKS in the paper’s listings this morning.

No Hoops player even merited two stars with keeper Scott Bain, full-backs Jeremy Toljan and Emilio Izaguirre, midfielders Scott Brown, Callum McGregor, Ryan Christie, James Forrest and Scott Sinclair all receiving one.

Even substitutes Odsonne Edouard and Timothy Weah, who replaced Sinclair and Christie just before the hour mark, rated a single star.

It was a particularly dismal evening for Boyata who is out of contract at the end of the season and will leave the Hoops for free.

A huge performance from the Belgian World Cup centre-back would have attracted big-name suitors in the summer.

However, he struggled along with Croatian Simunovic against the pace of the opposition’s twin strike force of Cheryshev and Sobrino who shared the goals.

The newspaper appear to be a tad unfair in the rating of on-loan frontman Burke, who tried hard to make an impact without any service from a toiling midfield.
