Through the most testing times Celtic have narrowed the gap

147

Through the most testing times: illness, injury and international absences; incredibly, Celtic managed to narrow the gap at the top of the table to two points.  Newco’s lead can be shattered tonight.  By their own decision making earlier in the season, they travel to Celtic Park to play before an exclusively home crowd under a Glasgow night sky.

Ange Postecoglou still has challenges.  Callum McGregor was injured against Alloa and may be risked.  Daizen Maeda played for Japan in Tokyo yesterday, I doubt we have had a player play on successive days in 80 years, and never at opposite ends of the globe, but he is likely to feature tonight.

Matt O’Riley and Reo Hatate will be crucial to our performance, neither has seen anything like the atmosphere or pressure they will experience tonight.  I expect Reo especially to be kicked and elbowed from early on.  He will receive no protection from the referee.

Win, and the world is their’s. Celtic would go top of the league with Tom Rogic, David Turnbull, Christopher Jullien and Kyogo Furuhashi still to return to the squad.

Newco are better than the string of Scottish clubs we have beaten by a single goal recently.  Before shipping three extraordinary goals against Ross County on Saturday, they conceded only once in nine domestic fixtures.  They are top of the league and champions for a reason, any presumptions about tonight on our part should be dismissed.

Enjoy yourself tonight.  If you are there in person, play your part to the fullest until the last kick of the ball.  Make the most of the night, the lights, the stadium and the hurt you felt last season.

  1. For anyone going to the game tonight – Not The View have published Res12. A Story of Duplicity from Cradle to Grave to reach those who don’t use social media and enjoy turning pages rather than scrolling.

The narrative is a depressing one but ends with a suggestion for the way forward.

Essential reading of a part of Celtic’s history many wish to avoid with new information that supports the title given.

JHB. Your post about being bored with Res12.

Had you been less bored and taken the time to absorb the facts you would have understood its relevance to today , particularly if Madden makes dubious calls that cause us to points.

Apart from that your ignorance as a result of boredom caused you to make a case riddled with misinformation and had you not had inherent laziness as an excuse I would call you a liar.

Now who else suffers from laziness and inability to discern truth from lies?

  2. NO Inside Info to disclose…but I do have a wee feeling that CALMAC WILL START tonight ?

Maybe ANGE will surprise the Huns ( and many of US ) by playing DAIZIEN MAEDA from the start also and maybe 60 minutes of effort and Goal Scoring Talent from him ?

VERY WELL said that Man !

When I saw JHB’s Post yesterday, I was urged to remind him that HIS Opinions on RES 12, had previously been shot down a wee while ago, so I posted words to that effect on the previous Thread.

    JHB….CHUMP of the Highest Order.

    —-

    That’s quite a message.

I am bored with this issue after 10 years, but as you may know I have discussed Res 12 on here with you on a few occasions and always accepted that you were serious in your intentions.

I just see no point in ‘flogging a dead horse’, especially when most of the invective and blame is directed at Celtic. Your campaign will make it much more difficult for events such as those that surrounded the destruction of Rangers FC, to happen ‘under the radar’ again…and for that you are to be commended.

It is time to move on – lessons have been learned – ‘forewarned is forearmed’ for the future.

Sean p will be 12 in March, he is Celtic mad came in from school buzzing about tonight.

He will be watching it with his mam & dad then coming up to us to stay as they are up early for work. I hope me and him are up late talking about a Celtic victory.

    Enjoy tonight bud.

  11. Main worry will be setpieces (along with the dodgy penalty).

  15. The Joe Ledley goal night is one of my most memorable occassions in my celtic supporting life.

I got to go in the GB area with Vinny VHMAN who gifted me a ticket. 100 minutes of jumping around and enjoying it like the jungle days. wonderful.

    played in 70 mph winds.

I spoke to Joe on saturday funny enough, going up the tunnel, he is a really skinny skinny guy, and lovely with it.

i asked him if still playing, he said no.

I said do you miss this place – he said more that i could have ever known.

    ps, JHB ,

please I am bored of you being bored with res12, can you go bore the arse off another blog please.

    Match Pictures | Matches: 2011 – 2012 | 2011-2012 Pictures

    Trivia

Celtic go top for the first time this season! 2pts in front.

Celtic at start Nov were 15pts behind in the league (but two games in hand). A remarkable performance.

Ledley scores winner. Avg age of Celts is just 22!!!

70-80mph winds all day in Scotland and it was freezing, match was possibly expected to be called off.

Match played with strong wings prob 30mph. Celtic played into it in first half.

Rangers had ball 90% over the line but saved by Forster. Balanced out with later Hooper opportunity clear through and called offside when not.

Kayal stretchered off…. believe it’s just an ankle injury.

Journalist Graham Spiers: “A strange, almost pitiful 2nd half from Rangers at Parkhead, given they were allegedly ‘chasing’ the game from the 52nd minute.”

From Huns site: RM ‘As much as it pains me to admit it, their end was rocking in the second-half. Every single one of those horrible, horrible bastards was doing that daft huddle thing and see when they started singing ‘We Shall Not Be Moved’, my heart sank. I effing despise them with an absolute and utter passion’

L’Equipe on the Old Firm: “The Glasgow derby at Celtic Park remains the greatest spectacle in European football, but then the match starts.”

Jokes: “With gusts of up to 50 mph forecast, how is Sone Aluko going to stay on his feet?”; “It’s amazing the change in temperature in Scotland. It’s gone from -15 to +2 in just 8 weeks.”

Neil Lennon’s side will wear special Hoops shirts with their names printed in Japanese lettering when they face Colin Calderwood’s Hibs at Parkhead on April 6.

    ADVERTISING

The shirts will be signed and auctioned, with money raised donated to help the Japan Appeal organised by Oxfam, one of the club’s charity partners.

Former Celtic midfielder Shunsuke Nakamura, now back in his homeland with Yokohama Marinos, has welcomed the move.

You should send a private email to Paul67, I’m sure he would have no problem allowing you, Big Jimmy, An Tearman, Friesdorfer etc to sine die from the blog anyone who’s views you are not happy with.

  22. Griffiths released by Dundee. Latest example of Scottish self wasted talent. If the Griff had the mindset and discipline of someone like Cristiano, just think what might have been.

Although his antics annoyed the hell out of me, I do feel sorry for him. Pity he did not receive some life coaching at an early age, not that I’m convinced he would have heeded it. ( as opposed to heided it.😊 )

  23. RTB,

I dont need to ask Paul67, I told the fella directly he is a bore, and I wish he would post elsewhere.

  24. Experienced Nir Bitton getting red carded was a blow particularly after his fine performance against Hearts, acting as a guiding light to our midfield newcomers Riley and Hatate. Here’s hoping Calmac can make it, if not it probably will be McCarthy or Soro who will not let the side down. Otherwise Ange can chose a very strong team and under the Parkhead lights and being roared on by a 60,000 crowd the Hoops will prosper. Ange should watch out fior fatigue and use substitutes wisely.

  25. griff = depression . Its an illness and not easy to shake , particularly for someone under public scrutiny. Its a wasted talent but I’m grateful we saw the best of it.

  26. Spit the dog was a play on the punk rocker persona of that time.

There are pics of the Bob Carrolgees CSC somewhere.

I recall a fella attending games at that time with his own spit the dog with a celtic top on.

  27. Leigh is still a better player than the Scottish Championship, marginally. I’m sure there will be a team in the Premiership willing to give him a pay and play deal, por cierto

If you took the bloody time to read the narrative you would see it ends with how to move on in a self respecting manner.

I might be a strange breed but my self respect will not allow me to be lied to and moving on with no change to the lies means I am accepting lies are ok.

If you check the way the Duplicity narrative was framed on Phil Mac Giolla Bhains site you will see it is presented as an opportunity to move on with a suggestion that allows supporters to be part of that process.

    Do keep up.
