Ticketus secure their £40m of tickets

1467

None of you will be surprised at today’s opinion from the Court of Session in Edinburgh that Rangers’ deal with Ticketus cannot be set aside, despite some absolutely pitiful reporting to the contrary.  It’s fine to get things wrong every now and then, we all get Duff information on occasion, but please….

It’s worth recording, Ticketus may only have paid £20m + vat but the tickets they own are worth in the region of £40m. High risk investments require a high return.

Rangers’ administrators argued that the deal inhibited their ability to rescue the company but the heroic Blue Knights submitted a bid accommodating Ticketus, undermining the administrators’ argument. If only the Blue Knights were in a position to strike a deal with Craig Whyte they could be regarded as helping the situation instead of being hapless fools.

Next up is HMRC, who have not capitulated and agreed to accept a few pennies in the pound.  They have not agreed to accept anything less than all monies owed.  Soon after that we will hear that no court has been able to set aside Craig Whyte’s security over Ibrox.  The most underappreciated man no longer in Scotland remains the only person with a reasonable chance of phoenix-ing Rangers.

The first 26,000 (approx.) tickets sold to each Rangers game for the next three years are owned by Ticketus.  In the event a phoenix occurs, Rangers will have to revert back to budgets from their glory days of the 1950s – we will soon be told this is a great omen.

If you are going to Ibrox on Sunday, take care and enjoy your visit.  Take photographs of the occasion and send them in, we’ll perhaps use them on a future edition of CQN Magazine.  It may prove to be the end of an era.

If you’ve not read the article below, about one of Jinky’s great performances, do so now.

Issue 7 of CQN Magazine is out now! Go to the dedicated magazine site here to read it properly (which you’ll not be able to do below).

Thanks to everyone who has bought a hard copies of the magazine, it looks like the sold out sign will go up again.  Order your copy for delivery by clicking on the link below for news and views from Celtic supporters.

VP-They might have thought G64 was tasty wi yon Desert Storm outfit he wears?

  5. Looks to me like any RFCNewCo could simply build a new stadium (one that wasn’t falling down and need millions of pounds of repair) and leave TicketUs with a stack of season tickets for an empty stadium, for a nice saving of say £10M once a new home was built or bought.

Ticketus is not a company but an Investment Vehicle. So Ticketus backing for the Blue Knights would (logically – probably a silly word to use here) have to be from the original investors who invested in the Rangers/Whyte Season Ticket buying venture. Talk about throwing good money after bad.

My old man always said about the lottery. Think he called it a tax on the stupid though. Haven’t seen him since he won!

  9. Chairbhoy, really enjoyed writing that one. I am sure Ticketus have sufficient sucurities to see them through all scenarios.

philvisreturns, ha! Deloreans were from Ulster, I suppose.

Monaghan1900, could you point me to that paragraph/page. Ticketus claim they are not a creditor but that they own the tickets.

They also assert they have security but have not said how or what this security it. My assumption is that they have a claim on the security Craig Whyte has on the stadium.

    In short:

There is a floating charge over the stadium and Murray Park. You can bet your ticket for Sunday that anyone who has put money into Rangers in the last year has a claim on that security.

Summer of 65, great, thanks for buying the magazine.

ernie lynch, see above. Ticketus statement a few weeks ago referred to them having security. They declined to say what but you can be pretty sure they were not making it up.

iBhoy, no. Ticketus claim is on the first circa 26,000 tickets sold for each game, irrespective if it is a season ticket or not.

Let’s be honest.,the tax dodgers and media were hoping the ticketus deal be set aside and allow them to puff their wee chests and tattoos out for Sunday whilst putting the boot into Celtic players under the watch of compliant officials..

All the while backed by bigoted bitter bluenoses… ( all the b s!!)

The last line of Lord Hodge’s judgement is:

I conclude that the legal nature of the rights which Ticketus has in the Ibrox stadium, the season tickets for that stadium and the proceeds of future sales of the season tickets are purely personal contractual rights. In relation to the second alternative direction I refer the administrators to my discussion in paragraphs [38] to [62] above.

It seems to me that whether it’s Newco or Oldco Ticketus have the ST rights for events in Ibrox.

  14. I see they are still trying to demean our winning the title this year, lots of ex-rangers players prompted by various papers about how the troubles at Rangers have made it easier for us, and of us possibly winning at Ibrox would not compare to their winning 9iar at Celtic Park, and how we should not celebrate at their midden if we do (even Charlie Nicholas!)

Is there new tax laws on 1st April,?Paraphrasing-that a new company morphed from a previous one, could still be liable for various taxes accrued by the old one?

To the real deal : anyone got any ideas as to who we’ll field on Sunday? For sure, I’d like to see Broonie,Sammi and Big Vic feature heavily and if Forster is on his ‘A’ game we should prevail.

Glad to hear it, was a bit worried I had given them a get-out since the document referred to season tickets rather than tickets.

  21. My daddy gave me a big cray-on again and I writed on the paper:

My daddy has fallin asleep on the big couch. He does this every day. His big Rangers vest is covered in cheeseballs and sausage. He has his baseball cap on. He snores like a big gorilla. It scares me a lot. He kicked over his cider bottle again. It will dry in wiff the other stains. Thats what he always says. His sticks are next to him. He has just waked up. He kicked the dog again. “Nacho! Ya wee bas…” he says. He begins to cry when he sees his cider is gone. We will have chips and chicken nougats again today. He shouts out: The Big House must Stay Open! The Big House must Stay Open! it frightens all the neighbours a lot. My daddy has lots of those metal sticks. I think he has wet his jogging bottoms again: The Big House must Stay Open! That is the Bottom Line! he shouts again as he goes to the little boys room…

    No that’s wrong.

When Lord Hodge says that the rights are purely personal contractual rights he means they are personal to the parties to the contract ie Ticketus and huns plc.

They are not real rights ie they do not attach to the seats or the stadium

If huns plc cease to exist by being liquidated, the contract is dead.

  25. Favourite goal & player you didn’t see.

Goal – great clip in the prevoius article of the 67 league title clincher at Ibrox – Jinky’s second goal has for a long time been my favourite Celtic goal that I didn’t see in the flesh.

Player – Would have loved to have seen Bobby Lennox. When Bobby Charlton gives you a special mention, you must be a special talent.
