TIERNEY BOOST FOR HOOPS

THERE is some early Christmas cheer for Celtic fans with the news Kieran Tierney is back in training.
The 19-year-old left-back has been out for six weeks after sustaining ankle ligament damage and undergoing surgery.

Tierney also had a long-term shoulder issue resolved, but is now on the mend and gave the club a big boost by getting back out onto the training pitch at Lennoxtown yesterday.

Part one of the teenage international defender’s rehabilitation is complete, but the Hoops have confirmed the odds are against him reappearing until after the mid-season break.
Emilio Izaguirre is again likely to deputise against Hamilton Accies at Parkhead tonight as the champions hope to extend their lead at the top of the Premiership to 11 points with two games in hand.

Tierney was involved in light training and spent part of the morning running with Scott Allan, who has returned to the club after an unsuccessful loan spell at Rotherham.

Midfielder Allan, taken to the Championship side by his ex-Hibs boss Alan Stubbs in the summer, made his last appearance for the strugglers in October.
