TIERNEY: NEW SETBACK

0

CROCKED Celtic defender Kieran Tierney has pulled out of Scotland’s Nations League squad.

The Hoops left-back was forced off in the 1-0 Premiership loss to Derek McInnes’ Ibrox side at Parkhead on Sunday with 20 minutes still to play.

Now comes the latest setback for Tierney who will miss the trip to Slovenia on Saturday, before games against Switzerland at Hampden a week today and North Macedonia away before a return match against the Slovenians in Glasgow on October 6, according to a report in the Scottish Sun.

GREEN FOR GO…Kieran Tierney has a shot blocked as Kasper Hogh and Benjamin Nygren look on during Celtic’s 5-1 win over Kilmarnock at Rugby Park last month.

Tierney has completed only two of his nine games for the champions this season and sat out the wins over Aberdeen (3-0) and St Mirren (2-1) while only making a cameo appearance as an 87th-minute substitute for Liam Scales in the 1-0 victory over St Johnstone at McDiarmid Park.

The 29-year-old fans’ favourite has struggled with a recurring problem and will now take a complete rest before Celtic go back into action again against Motherwell in the league encounter at Fir Park on Sunday October 11.

Tierney’s withdrawal means Colby Donovan is the only Celt in new boss Sebastien Pocognoli’s squad.
