I occasionally meet Celtic fans who “have heard KT is coming back this summer”. Kieran Tierney is the best left back Celtic have had in 40 years, possibly longer. We will not sign a better left back this summer, or in any window for a long time. Still, the reasons why he will not be seen in green and white hoops anytime soon are many.
He has two years on his Arsenal contract, which is worth at least three times what Celtic would be able to offer. Does anyone seriously think he would walk away from what is the majority of what he is likely to earn for the rest of his life?
After a successful loan spell at Real Sociedad, Arsenal are likely to want another loan fee, or transfer fee, to move him again. Kieran only turned 27 this month, he should have six years in his legs, but he is not a player who will appreciate in value. His next permanent club will expect to write off any transfer fee to zero by the time he leaves.
Then there is the real reason. We sold Kieran with known injury problems. There was no guarantee he would pass his Arsenal medical, it was astonishing that Celtic received £25m for a talented player with such an injury history.
Even if Kieran took a pay cut, down to the level of the other senior players, and Arsenal were happy to move him on for a token, would you want a big wage, a place in the squad and our hopes for the left back position hanging on a player who will inevitably miss significant amounts of football?
Love him, though I do, Kieran would be nowhere near my Celtic plans and I doubt very much anyone at Lennoxtown thinks differently. The pain we saw in his face last night reflects more than just his hamstring injury.

Artificial surface in Atlanta.

With 3 minutes to go Argentina get their second making it 2 nil. Could be 6 or 7 with the chances they’ve missed.
T
2-0 Argentina full time. Canada fit enough but a day late and a dollar short in speed of thought.
But I wouldn’t live anywhere else!

Good morning all from a grey skied Garngad.
Thank goodness its Friday
Another 2 and a half pound off this week, on my way for the 4 stone off before we go away on 7 July, I have 7 pounds to shed to reach my target.
By the way who would let the Huns use their stadium ffs they will wreck it.
D. :)
Good morning from a gloriously sunny North Staffs.
Off to centre parcs later today with the family – 8 adults and 4 grandkids. Plenty of activities planned especially for the weans.
England we’re poor yesterday – thought Alan Shearer was going to explode 🤯
The revamped huns stadium had an inherent design flaw from the outset in that they built the stands facing the pitch.
Good morning all from Govanhill.

New Edmiston House isn’t the big win the board thinks it is.
I’m a fan of the idea and think it works well but it was supposed to be opened our 150th anniversary.
It’s a £12m project which was also delayed and (IIRC) costs rose above the initial price.
It also turns out after it was built that it’s not big enough for a lot of events.
When we announced it we said: “New Edmiston House is designed to host dinners for 500 people, sit an audience of 750 and host gigs and events for up to 1300.”
Now it’s open it can seat 500 and host up to 700 people for a gig.
The thought was there but the execution was miles off. That’s on the board.
That’s why this latest update is being landed with them. Time and time again they have shown they’re not up to the task of running this club the way it should be.
As for the Blue Sky Lounge – it looks great but I’d rather have a winning team on the park than nice hospitality I’ll never use.
—————-
Can’t blame the club for this one.
Contractors to blame, but even then there’s extenuating circumstances.
—————-
Need to disagree. Ultimately it’s a project, Club are the Project Sponsor – they know the scope, the outcome and the key milestones for completion.
If it’s true that previous contractors declined this contract as the time scales are unrealistic, that’s a major red flag. Time expiry and the associated turbulence (we are now facing) is the critical risk to taking on this project. The first response to any risk should be to avoid it, where it can’t be avoided it needs to be mitigated and controlled.
Our board, again, if what has been said is true, chose not avoid this risk. They opted for another contractor. I don’t know what assurances they could have been given to alleviate concerns previously raised but we’re now apparently committing and are therefore in risk mitigation territory. Again, the consequences of failure to deliver on time are substantial so protecting this timeframe is critical – the sponsor owns the risk for this and had its chance to be conservative.
I’ve bored the arse off myself writing this and of course, there’s the risk that any project manager with salesmanship can allay concerns so it all ultimately comes down to due diligence. Progress monitoring, planned versus actual analysis regularly, frequent engagement, commercial protection, measuring deterministic vs risk adjusted milestones. It’s all standard stuff in that realm, to get to this stage and see a material delivery forecast now bleed into July just screams a series of bad decisions and poor oversight.
They don’t wear all the responsibility but they are accountable. I’ve bored the arse off myself again so I will actually stop this time.
Maybe that saint stivs guy knows his stuff after all …😁😁😉
How dim and utterly twisted anti Celtic and simply not fit for purpose are the Scottish media ?
A big question but one who he rally came to me this week in cologne.
They slaughtered McGregor Ralston and others after a sub par performance v Germany. 2 names more than most carried the can. Wee Billy was to be the saviour and he did so well v Switzerland at times, when they let him.
Yes there was great energy from the team and in the stadium but prior to the game a draw for the Swiss was always literally as good as a win. No different in terms of what they needed to do to either win or be 2nd in the group. It wasn’t even mentioned pre or post game by any of these clowns. Yet it contributed to what we saw and hailed as great Scotland in the second half.
Yes I got excited about it in the second half but zero objective analysis from these bitter clowns. Only that Billy saved the day. Ralston was rubbish and we are going to beat. Hungary to qualify.
Again they say it as if it’s only us who can qualify. 66% chance that 3 points will do it. So Hungary can also and they are a decent side not battered with injuries like ours.
The possibility of a 2 point qualification not even pondered. Yet it is a possible outcome.
I am only a fan but clowns in the media with so little to do then recycle their anti Celtic crap do rip Ma knitting as they say.
B78,
None of this is new. Maybe it has reached a new level since the deid team cannot carry their hopes anymore. Even the Scotland team has only Gilmour to even tentatively represent them. Pathetic really.

Anthony Ralston looked a better more reliable player than those multi million pound EPL players playing in white last night.

BREAKING – Rangers are expected to announce the signing of veteran Dutch international, Bob de Bilder. A spokesman said “we expect to build the team around him, and the disabled area, the stand, the floating pitch and the casino…….”
Why no Braddish steel?
The demise of Kieran Tierney has been greatly exaggerated…… ‘if Scotland get through he could be back for the next round.’

Our financial year ends 30th June – so perhaps after that date we will see some signings 🤞

Kiefer Sutherland proudly sported the new tartan top alongside his Scots 24 co-star Ross McCall last night.
Ross, from Port Glasgow, is a big Celtic fan and it seems he’s recruited the rest of the cast to the Hoops cause.
He tweeted a photo of Kiefer in his top, and himself holding his, with the headline: “Worn with pride. Causing a stir.”
Ross added proudly: “We’ve got ours. Stoked.”
Celtic tweeted back: “Great to have your support Bhoys.”
BSR,
Can’t be true. One jolly poster on here said it was “A career ending injury”.
One very respected( Well that cant be right ),poster,on FF,has stated it is Asbestos causing the problem over their.Long closure ahead.
Let’s hope he is correct.

Just turned 75 but this takes me back. Wilson who passed away shortly after this
at 27 (!), brilliant guitarist, was dedicated to the fight against climate change.
His mental state was not diagnosed as far as we know.
Very sad.
Thanks for the link and for the memories.

Sad to hear the passing of Donald Sutherland, not least because he never seemed to stop working as a film actor. Too many great films and performances to mention but will mention two, M.A.S.H because it was an anti-war comedy, and it led to a long running TV series, and Klute, directed by Alan J Pakula. This one of a series of films from the early 1970s, a kind of American Noir, The Conversation by Coppola was another, as were The Pelican Brief and Three Days of the Condor. All The Presidents Men followed and later JFK which Sutherland also appeared in. But no Klute is the greatest of these, released in 1971, in which the Donald co-starred with Jane Fonda (we’re not talking Barbarella here folks) in one of her best ever performancess, won an Oscar for it too, not least in her depiction of her relationship with Sutherland’s character. Continued after the film ended too. No conspiracy there.
