TIERNEY POSER, MALACIA MOVE?

CELTIC are poised to step up their bid to hasten Kieran Tierney’s return to the club.

The Scotland international left-back, 27, has already agreed an emotional comeback to Parkhead in the summer after leaving for Arsenal in a record £25million deal in August 2019.

However, Brendan Rodgers is light in the No.3 position after Alex Valle’s season-long loan was cut short with the 20-year-old defender returning to parent club Barcelona before another temporary shift to Serie A outfit Como in this transfer window.

Tierney was an unused substitute in the London club’s 2-1 Champions League win over Girona last night with boss Mikel Arteta starting the match with Riccardo Calafiori while Myles Lewis-Skelly replaced him in the 70th minute.

That could prove to be significant if the Spaniard believes he is well placed in left-sided back four slot.

The Hoops could now hope to thrash out a loan fee for the club’s former fans’ favourite.

Meanwhile, Brendan Rodgers is also keeping tabs on Manchester United left-back Tyrell Malacia, according to the Scottish Daily Mail.

The Old Trafford club are reportedly willing to listen to proposals for him as he is surplus to requirements.

Malacia has struggled for regular playing time since returning from an 18-month injury lay-off last November.

Spanish aces Real Betis are also monitoring the former Feyenoord star’s situation and they, too, could make a late move for his services.
