TIERNEY’S EURO HONOUR

KEIRAN TIERNEY has been named as one the best young players in Europe.
Popular Spanish newspaper Marca have bestowed the honour on Celtic’s breakthrough babe.
The defender, 18, has been selected as the top left-back by the daily newspaper in a starting XI comprising of Under-19 players who have already featured in a top-flight game.

He was chosen alongside some exciting talent such as Real Madrid’s Martin Odegaard, who has been linked with the Hoops in the past, Liverpool defender Joe Gomez and Benfica midfielder Renato Sanches.

Tierney made his first team debut when he came on as a substitute in a 2-1 win away to Dundee in April and followed that up with his first start in a goalless draw against St Johnstone in Perth the following month.

His displays this season have pushed fans’ favourite Emilio Izaguirre onto the substitutes’ bench and although the MSM have been reporting that the Honduran could be on his way in the summer, Ronny Deila stated clearly yesterday that he wants Emilio to stay, stating that Celtic need more than one left back.
