TILIO TARGETED

MARCO TILIO has been targeted by Melbourne City with the A-League side looking to bring back the Australia international winger for a THIRD stint.

They are poised to sound out the champions about the possibility of another loan or permanent move for the 23-year-old wide Bhoy, according to Sky Sports.

The Hoops reportedly paid £2million for the forward in July 2023, but he has played for only 28 MINUTES in Brendan Rodgers’ first team, cameo appearances in the 1-1 draw with Motherwell at Parkhead in November 2023 and a brief outing in a 4-1 home win over Hibs the following month.

ALL SMILES…Marco Tilio holds up his Celtic shirt on the day he signed in July 2023.

He moved in a temporary switch to Melbourne two months later and spent the entire season on loan with the team last time out as he became Celtic’s forgotten man.

Tilio was a surprise starter in Rodgers’ side in the 3-2 loss in the closed-doors encounter against Estrela da Amadora at Benfica’s training campus on Saturday.

The Aussie hasn’t enjoyed too much good fortune since arriving on these shores and was immediately put into cold storage shortly after sealing his five-year contract when it was discovered he was suffering from a torn quad thigh muscle.

He had to wait FIVE months before he could make his debut in the stalemate with the Fir Park club.

Tilio first attracted the attention of Celtic with 20 goals and 19 assists in 86 appearances for Melbourne City when he helped them win the title.

The Hoops, of course, have just sold Nicolas Kuhn to Como for £17.2million and Norwich City are weighing up a move for Yang Hyun-jun, as CQN reported earlier today.

The future of another winger, Luis Palma, is still open to speculation after the Honduran international spent the second half of last season on loan at Greek side Olympiakos.
