Time for an inquest into fragile Celtic limbs

822

One of the things Neil Lennon may have on his agenda for the international break is an inquest into the physical condition of his playing squad.  The season is a month old and Celtic have an injury list which would wipe out pretty much every other team in the country.  If this was an isolated occurrence it would be no more than curious but we have written about, and discussed, the fragile limbs of Celtic players since the Lennoxtown Training Centre opened nearly five years ago.

Since then Celtic ‘lost’ (more on that at a later date) three leagues by a maximum of six points and lost valuable form and points due to first choice players sitting in the stands on match day.

On Saturday our central midfield was without Ledley, Brown, Wanyama, Kayal and McGeouch (on a non-fitness related injury), while even auxiliary stand-in for central mid, Charlie Mulgrew, was on the list of others getting treatment.

The run of bad luck has moved clearly into the realms of statistical relevance.  It is not luck at all, we are doing something wrong.

Football clubs look to sports science to deliver multiple objectives.  Competitive pressure is put on players to become faster and to be able to run as effectively late in games as they can in the opening minutes (which for now is a physical impossibility but remains a key target), but we are clearly missing a trick.

It’s the same obsession they have with Alex Thomson now he’s stopped writing about them – rather than criticise what he said they criticise him and the fact that he dared say it, which is what led them here in the first place.

When in a hole, stop digging. But they can’t.

And yes, the man they love to hate is flying up the Amazon charts and being, for once I’d guess, well rewarded financially.

It’s like being proud of a ‘world record attendance’ for a 4th division club whilst your former neighbours have reached the last 16 of the Champions League…

I saw what you posted and I know you didn’t refer to him as a hun.

I respect your views that you didn’t think it should have been posted on here, my view is that is right that we know what is getting said.

I suppose we are both right in our own way, I would rather that stuff like that was not posted, but as some are writing such crap, I reckon we should know about it, and who is saying it.

I’m sure Phil is big enough to take care of himself.

I have always been a believer rightly or wrongly that knowing what your enemy is thinking and saying is forewarned and forearmed, and for sure, they are our enemy.

My point was posters having a go at yer man, he posted cos he was asked to by BMCUW, he didn’t deserve it.

PC67, it’ll make a nice change to have someone sitting behind me who disnay spend the whole match abusing big Sammi. The guy behind me at the helsingborgs game was doing ma heid in. At one point his own pal was going to fill him in!!

The girl at the ticket office said there’s every chance we will be offered our own seats back as per helsingborg. I’m sticking with the relocation.

Yes he did. He could have printed the link but he chose not to. His post was deliberately vague so that BCUWP or A.N other would ask the obvious question

In any other Country but Scotland ……… We only allow teams who either kick the shoite out of your skilful players, or cheat the shoite out of every team in the land …….what is, however, really astounding is the attempted / truly pathetic attempts to cover it all up originally, and to now try to play the sympathy ticket………. 10. From tsfm:

“Maybe our football authorities could learn from the Board which runs the Paisley Domino League.

They have just banned a team for cheating (sound familiar?), refused to allow them to come back as a ‘Newco’, and taken their trophies from them.

The reporter had me in stitches as I couldn’t help but think of RFCIASTBL after his every utterance.

Alas, I fear this integrity and application of rules won’t, I fear, have a ‘domino effect’ (sorry!) within SPL/SFA ‘corridors of power’ – but a laugh nonetheless!”

  11. miki67

It is a Celtic pub team that’s been banned, the cheating allegation is unproven, and the ‘errant’ team complied with all requirements re banning players etc required of them by the league authorities, yet they were punished anyway.

    Yes, reminds me of something!

Re Wig & Pen debate earlier

Tannahills used to be, St Peters bus used to pick up there many moons ago. Tried to think of another Celtic pub in Paisley & struggling. Ogilvie club & St Peters are only others, but members clubs. All others have closed down or changed sides.

Tannahills was, even up to about 5 yrs ago, then guy who has Clarks moved his mob in. Afton used to have small bus, but then changed owners & got pretty bad with huns. They created the hun triangle, Clarks, Afton & Websters.

The only possible could be The Wellington, which may still be a meeting point for one of your customers, who gets on an unofficial minibus from there, but not an out & out Celtic pub. There are a couple of safe places to watch, but mixed crowds. Terrible a town the size of Paisley only has the one Celtic pub.

  14. Neil canamalar Lennon hunskelper extrordinaire on

    miki67,

the pub to be banned was accused of cheating by an individual, the pub is the only Celtic supporting pub in the league.

The football authorities know that 2012 fc are a new club but don’t wish to tell the deluded ,the deluded are needed for just a little while longer ,they are needed to fund a certain share issue and then when their pockets have been emptied ,subtle hints will be dropped ,but by that time it will be too late for them to do anything about it (sound familiar ).

The problem I have is that the (we have been punished enough campaign has been too OTT and a lot of the hard of thinking are now in a state of mass hypnosis and no amount of clicking of fingers or 12345 your back in the (blue) room guff will snap them out of it .

Instead of 2012 fc fans accepting what they have done ,they have been galvanised into a bitter revenge minded mob ,I fear the great flaw in the SFA/MSM /2012 fc plan is they failed to realise the IQ of their fan base
