Motherwell travel to Celtic Park tomorrow on a mission. A win would see them draw level with Celtic, and after a physically and mentally draining Champions League midweek game, they will fancy their chances. Inverness remain top of the league on goal difference, but this is the third consecutive season Motherwell have tucked in below Celtic. They will not finish above Celtic, of course, but this is likely to be our toughest test of the season.
As well as the result, there should be other objectives from tomorrow’s game. We are eight games into our European campaign but our two most expensive summer signings, Teemu Pukki and Derk Boerrigter, and still to settle into the team. Both should start against Motherwell.
For reasons you know too well, I thought it would be a good idea to do the Great Scottish Run on Sunday in aid of 1254125. I have (just) setup a Mydonate page, if you have been unable to participate in any event so far, you can do so online now.
Many thanks for your support.

It certainly seems to be. I guess he has decided to take it easy. If he has. Good for him and I wish him nothing but the best.

Good luck to all my fellow Great Scottish Runners for Sunday.
Let’s all run in a rampaging Sammi style, weaving in and out of the guys dressed up in animal costumes as though they were La Liga defenders.
Jesus wept!!!
Former Rankers star Nacho Novo will help make the draw for the third round of the Scottish Cup at 1pm on Monday afternoon at Hampden.
He will be joined by SFA president Campbell Ogivlie and Nicola Frampton, Director at William Hill.
Poor Nicola: heated balls to handle and no EBT for her efforts.

I place Tommy firmly in the category of Scottish exile who thinks that, because he moved abroad (England) and visits Scotland occasionally, he knows our situation better than those who stayed here, because he has gained some perspective from travel.
In his academic work, I am sure Tommy brings due rigour and standards to his citing of source material and giving due weight to his data. But you can leave a lot of room in historical and political research for your own prejudices to read between the data and develop your own prejudices and positions.
In that short article, I counted 3 occasions where Tommy made a lazy assumption and proceeded to draw inferences from this unproven supposition. In writing for his audience, he may be “kissing ass” a little but it comes across to those of us who are better informed, as trying to appease. I am sure that Tommy shares few traits with the people behind Rangers Standard but he imagines them to be more civilised and reasonable than they are. They will ignore all the bits where he criticises mildly the troops and the running of the Troops for Ulster day at Ibrox and will just take his article as “There’s one of your own fenian taigs saying that Phil’s a bigot and Greenslade’s a trendy”

Neil Lennon: Ready to open talks with strike duo
.
Neil Lennon has revealed that he will be speaking to Georgios Samaras and Anthony Stokes about new deals at Celtic Park.
The former Manchester City striker Samaras has infuriated and delighted in equal measure since announcing his arrival on the Scottish stage with a goal on his debut at Rugby Park five years ago.
He has been in fine form this season and was again impressive in the recent Champions League tie against Barcelona, where he was used in his favoured deep-lying role.
Stokes has been stalling over a new deal for some months but Lennon remains confident that both can be persuaded to stay.
The manager said: “We are aware that he (Samaras) is out of contract at the end of the season.
“We will be speaking to Georgios and his representatives pretty soon and we will speak to Stokesy again. I don’t know when but it will happen.”
Despite the disappointment of the narrow defeat by Barcelona, Lennon does not believe that his players will need motivated for the visit of Motherwell this weekend.
“When you have been competing against the best teams and challenging them, it gives you a great lift,” he said.
“The players came in today and the quality of training was exceptional.
“They have had a look at what the top level of football really is and they are not far away and they will get a huge lift out of that so in terms of motivating the for tomorrow’s game, I don’t think they will have much of a problem.”
Kojo, Sammi has a virus and is highly unlikely to be available. I would dearly love Amido to be successful but from what I’ve seen him he is extremely raw. If he is a gem he will need some polishing. I’d give Biton a start if fit but he too has a virus but has a better chance then Sammi of making the squad. I was hugely impressed with Fisher in the Liverpool friendly, would love to see him get more game time. However can’t see him starting tomorrow. IMO take Fisher, Sammi and Amido out of your team and replace with Brooney, wee James & Anto and you will be closer to the starting line up. Amido to come on as a sub.

Whe I saw the headline to this thread “Time for expensive signings”, I thought that’s not like Paul – maybe he is just like the rest of us !!!
Alas, it was actually “Time for expensive signings to get their asses in gear”.
So, maybe you are just like the rest of us after all !!!
