Time to call Fifa to account

819

The Fifa Executive Committee meet in Zurich today and tomorrow but it is unclear if the allegations of corruption concerning the decision to award the 2022 World Cup to Qatar will be on the agenda.  The world body are no strangers to allegations of corruption, it seems to be an internal part of the fabric of the game at the top level, they are also extremely experienced at stonewalling such allegations.

The International Trades Union Congress, who are calling for the 2022 vote to be re-run, have called for fans attending games this weekend to turn their back on the field at the 22nd minute, to build awareness of what is going on with Fifa and the Qatari preparations.

When you get corruption at the top of an organisation it tends to undermine process all the way down.  A clean and alert Fifa would give us a far better game.  It’s time we were all asking questions about this.

Congratulations to Mrs Jobo Balde, who won at £50 voucher to spend at Cail Bruich, 725 Great Western Road.  Jobo, drop me and email……….

Photos are in from CQteN, great work by Geo, as usual. Click on the photo to see hi-res. More to come:

Seville, The Celtic Movement, is selling like the proverbial……

“I decided to go to the train station only to be told that there were no more trains to Malaga that night and so I was now truly stranded. By chance I met an old man who asked me if I knew where the train station was. “It’s no good mate they are all off—all the trains have gone!”

“The old man laughed and explained that he wasn’t looking to get a train, but just needed to find the station as that is where he had parked his car while he and his wife went to the game.

“We spoke for a few minutes about what had happened to me and then he said if I could get him to the station he would drive me to Malaga as they were staying twenty minutes outside Malaga for the rest of the week!

“I was delighted and accepted the lift and we got to the airport just as the last call went out for my flight. I rushed on board and guess who was there? None other than my mate Jim. I owe that old man and his wife so much for their help.”

Sorry mate but surely you’re being facetious in your claim that 30,000 Tims were cheering CO?!

If the big screen is running the length of the South Stand, does that mean all the dignitaries and our betters will be shuttled round to the North Stand?

  7. Paul67 – Can I ask you to apply some editorial control when releasing any further photos from CQteN? My PC crashed as soon as I clicked on that pic. Thanks.

I don`t think it is an official return of the GB. Just all the Bhoys buying tickets for one part of the ground. As far as I know, it has nothing to do with any agreement with Celtic FC.

    Cheerio for now,

How would Campbell know that. He thinks he is wonderful and we are all in awe of him and the fine job he is doing, hence our support for his competitions.

Why else would fans provide the SFA with funds to continue their good works, for the sake of Scottish football and society.

You consider it “daft” but the question remains, “why financially support a corrupt organisation that has killed the game in Scotland”.

I would agree that it is a hard question for many to answer, but, valid just the same.

Thanks for posting the link about Kelly’s Cellars, it brought back some distant memories. Also good to see St Mary’s – never been to a church that touched the special atmosphere I experienced in there.

Firstly, do you genuinely believe that CO thinks that we as Celtic supporters like him or think that he’s doing a wonderful job?

Secondly, the priority of going to support Celtic is what motivates Tims to attend matches sponsored by the SFA I’d imagine, not to line the pockets of CO et al.

  20. Another record for Celtic.

The biggest TV screen in the history of the biggest TV screens!

    HH!!

  21. Geordie Munro on

    Thomthetim,

I didn’t go to semi or final last season, and I won’t till CO is gone.

I would have loved it if every single Tim done the same and sent a message.

They didn’t and I had dozens fighting for my tickets.

But to say the fans were cheering ogilvy that day is just plain cuckoo imo.

  22. Let’s pray the screen doesn’t break – imagine the riot that would……….maybe we will be alright.

Well as of 16:57 it’s officially Spring (vernal equinox and all that) !!

So I’m off to Dublin tomorrow for St Paddy’s Day part II – was going over last weekend but something else was on if I remember. Will be hoping to revisit my Irish roots, recover my voice and perhaps find Doc’s mythical wallet !! Oh and a Guinness or two after last weekends rehearsal !

Don’t think the St Mirren game will be on anywhere in the City Centre as it’s a 3pm k.o. but hope springs eternal that someone will mention a Celtic TV feed somewhere?

Anybody going to be Dublin downtown let me know and I’ll buy you a pint (steady Doc!) HH and give the bhoys a shout for me on Saturday.
