The Fifa Executive Committee meet in Zurich today and tomorrow but it is unclear if the allegations of corruption concerning the decision to award the 2022 World Cup to Qatar will be on the agenda. The world body are no strangers to allegations of corruption, it seems to be an internal part of the fabric of the game at the top level, they are also extremely experienced at stonewalling such allegations.
The International Trades Union Congress, who are calling for the 2022 vote to be re-run, have called for fans attending games this weekend to turn their back on the field at the 22nd minute, to build awareness of what is going on with Fifa and the Qatari preparations.
When you get corruption at the top of an organisation it tends to undermine process all the way down. A clean and alert Fifa would give us a far better game. It’s time we were all asking questions about this.
Congratulations to Mrs Jobo Balde, who won at £50 voucher to spend at Cail Bruich, 725 Great Western Road. Jobo, drop me and email……….
Photos are in from CQteN, great work by Geo, as usual. Click on the photo to see hi-res. More to come:
Seville, The Celtic Movement, is selling like the proverbial……
“I decided to go to the train station only to be told that there were no more trains to Malaga that night and so I was now truly stranded. By chance I met an old man who asked me if I knew where the train station was. “It’s no good mate they are all off—all the trains have gone!”
“The old man laughed and explained that he wasn’t looking to get a train, but just needed to find the station as that is where he had parked his car while he and his wife went to the game.
“We spoke for a few minutes about what had happened to me and then he said if I could get him to the station he would drive me to Malaga as they were staying twenty minutes outside Malaga for the rest of the week!
“I was delighted and accepted the lift and we got to the airport just as the last call went out for my flight. I rushed on board and guess who was there? None other than my mate Jim. I owe that old man and his wife so much for their help.”

Will look out for you and your sartorial elegance in the lounges on Saturday!

Do we need Aberdeen to lose this weekend for us to have the possibility of winning the league at Firhill next Wednesday?
Time to call the S.F.A to account Paul.
how can we ‘allege’ about corruption within a governing body which overseas a corrupt governing body which overseas our corrupt governing body?
And these governing bodies know exactly the types of future revenue they are talking(creaming)off,TV & media streaming deals etc worth £billions.so it could be a case of absolute power corrupting absolutely.
FiFa and Uefa have changed football to me by overseeing the benefit of the game goes to the TV viewer to the detriment of those at all levels who play,
In the case of our own so called heirarchy we have a problem with confidence. We know it.Sponsors know it.
Can we have a definition of how the co-efficient works? gobbledigook numerical basis to try and back up why UeFa justify skewering their tournaments towards those countries with big populations imo. clear as mud
Yup ididfallootofbedthewrangwayCSc :-)
BSR, it is Friday for me even though it’s Thursday, wee day aff the morra.
An exciting one too, hitting the shops with Mrs Doc!
Remember back in the days Birthdays were days, that was it.
Now the whole following weekend is included, unless there is a game at CP though!
Someone was looking for CQteN photos, I’ll put a link to mine up later, mobile just now so can’t. I’m sure Paul has more from the official photographer to come.

I know – I know – one game at a time and all that but does anyone know if next Wednesday’s game against the Jags is on tv ?
According to the TV Times of CQN, Bada, it’s on sky.
HT,
Yes.
But my fear is they play on Tuesday night and if they fail to win that, we win without playing (assuming we win on sat)
That scenario makes it all a bit of a damp squib.
An Tearmann
Next Sat for Kano night, maybe a wee title celebration thrown in for good measure.
Till later all
When they put the big screen up do you reckon they will get big Fraser’s ba oot of the rafters?

I’ve got a bloody parent’s night next Wednesday until 8pm so let’s hope the goat scarers get a result on Saturday!!! :-)
Right off to kick some CQNers at 5s :-)
Doc
Generous to a fault – so they tell me :-)))
And I was going to ask a favour too! Will email. Bucket of Guinness in it for you ! HH
HT, GM,
Of course I don’t think that CO thought that the Celtic Massive were worshiping him, but, also he would be congratulating himself on having a full house, tacitly endorsing, by their attendance the SFA and all their pomps.
The problem, and the authorities know it, is, that football is a game of emotions and supporters commit a lot of emotional currency in following their team.
Clubs also know this, but it is very difficult for a supporter to deny his club of cash.
However, the SFA competitions are another kettle of poisson.
Also, the only weapon we have is our wallet.
On here and on other websites, there is much weeping and gnashing of molars re the corruption, but it seems that whatever action we take, it would not be at the expense of missing a game, that would be too much.
If a cohesive effort, involving other clubs’ fans was made, to deprive clubs of funds, even a serious threat of it, then the SFA would be cleaned out before you could say, Jim Farry.
N.B.
I know it is easy to hold my view when I don’t live in the environs of Celtic Park, but, I know that if I did, I would not give the SFA a penny, even if a son of mine was playing.
Somebody mentioned a big screen earlier on. I sit in the main stand and I’ve never seen a big screen at Celtic in my life. Granted there are two tiny TV’s there broadcasting blurred colours but still no giant screen. Another thing, what language does that half-time announcer speak – Croat?

That counts as a Friday special. Photographers at CQten had 14/03/14 in their diaries
with strict instructions not to point in certain directions, *but I’ve captured TBB’s shoes
for future reference*
TBB says Frasers baa is still up there right above his seat, but now sadly perfectly egg shaped.
Beanie arrived today.
Its great.
Many thanks to paddybhoy1888.

I’ve just got home from work. I’ll e mail you as soon as I have got myself sorted, but I just wanted to say thank you for your kindness. A simple thank you seems inappropriate, but you are an absolute gentleman and one of the most thoughtful people I’ve ever known.
Won’t embarrass you by posting exact details but I did want it made public that for anyone who wasn’t aware, that you are a shining example of kindness and caring, though I guess anyone who knows you is already aware of that.
God bless you and yours.
Police may be set to ban Tunnocks Tea Cakes – allegedly
Rain, Hailstones, Snow, and now the sun is belting down, I love Castlemilk ;)
Winning the league –
Motherwell have 54 points from 29 games so can get to 81
Aberdeen have 54 points from 28 games so can get to 84
We are currently on 78 points
Upcoming fixtures –
This weekend:
Aberdeen v Killie, Motherwell v Ross Co and Celtic v St Mirren – should be 3 home wins there putting us on 81 points, still 4 short
Next midweek
Tuesday – Ross Co v Aberdeen
Wednesday – Partick v Celtic
Unless Aberdeen lose, we can’t win the league against Partick.
If Aberdeen draw or win, we need to at least match them if we want to be able to clinch the title against Ross County on the Saturday.
But if we get a better result this coming Saturday than Aberdeen do you’ll need to work it out yourself ;-)
I think…..
And no, Doc – there’s no truth in the fact the new pound coin will have 12 sides to help get it out of an Embra hand with a spanner !!
Mike,
I’m on the case, will do my best. Meeting a mhan who may be able to help on Saturday.
BSR, Friday special it is, just been told we’re going to the Merchant City for lunch, and I’ve not to forget my wallet!
She thinks we’re shopping in Princess Square, it’s actually the Savoy Centre.
Mike, did you read that!
..just remembered a wee vignette from the ‘skorrie hoosehold, this morning.
It’s the Wee Fellah’s day for fitba, so Daddy (that’d be me) got him all kitted up. He usually favours his Fluminese “tap” for the games, but today wanted his Sellic tap. So while delving thru the drawerful of clothes he has, I unearthed an all black away Celtic strip that he’d received sometime ago and we’d forgotten he had.
Wee Man was Dee-lighted to put it on and wouldn’t stop rabbitting on about “Ninja fitba”, “Celtic are a Ninja team. Aren’t they Dad” and the like, all the way to school. So far the wife’s no called to say that she’s been summonsed to the Principal’s office!
Jobo 17:22 – wish it would rain here. Only rained about three times this year so far. São Paulo and many other states now water rationing as reservoirs are at a record low.
“Impeach Grimmond McCrummoch.”
A feckin crowbar wouldn’t do the job!
Touché Doc – off to have my tea ;-)))
Jobo
Surely if sheep draw either sat or Tuesday they can only get to 82 so a win sat and
wed would see us champs..
I have tkts for Wed :>)

Everything anyone ever wanted to know about the Spring Equinox except, why is it never called the Spring Equidie?
Nevertheless, it’s clear to me the way to go in September is, vote yang.
