Time to circle the wagons

528

We all needed to get Tuesday night out of our system, but we must also put the result behind us and not allow it to bleed into the rest of the campaign.  Every game is important in the coming weeks, even the home cup-tie against Dunfermline, which in different circumstances would be viewed as an opportunity to exercise the squad.

Dunfermline, presumably AIK Stockholm, Hearts, AIK and Newco await.  We cannot afford to wallow in permanent introspective.  We need to get our act together and get on with it.

Five days ago, I was feeling good about the start to the season.  We had scored 12 goals in two league games, last season we scored seven in seven.  For all Neil made mistakes on Tuesday, he is not plotting behind our backs.  The manager, players and board will feel this as much as we do.  If things go against us in the coming weeks, you will know how alone we are.

Time to circle the wagons.

  1. While Tuesday will take a long time to get over, describing our league chances as 50-50 seems bed wetting stuff to me.

We’ve two weeks and 5 games to stabilise our season. 5 games, 5 wins.

  2. Next 5 games please –

    Gordon

    Elhamed, Ajer, Jullien, Boli

    Brown, McGregor

    Forrest, Christie, Shved

    Edouard

Likely subs to feature – Griffiths, Ntcham, Johnston

    It’ll no happen

    Sleep well.

  3. Only signing that will make it right for me Big Vic Wanyama.

Rodgers just proving what we already know, rat.

The upcoming hun game takes on an even greater significance after this week`s setback.

The pragmatist in me says a draw will do .

  5. DD,

Announce Forster and big Vic and I might raise a titter.

sevco bringing in another midfielder – they can only play 11 players (not counting officials) but their midfield is looking like one that will easily out muscle ours. September 1st is a must not lose game.

  6. There are probably 60000 different views of what went wrong on Tuesday.

But surely this policy of punts not passes from the back has to take some of the blame.

We continue to get it forward quickly, then lost the ball, when in a winning position! baffled me!!

Everything else pales in comparison to me because we had better players on the park just applying poor strategy. Even better player still might have been found lacking with such primary school tactics.

Can’t put into words my rage and disappointment.

I think we will destroy the vermin in their Glorified Victorian Lavvy. Exterminate them before they pollute our City again.

The big FF is 31. Time to recover in his Spiritual Paradise Home

    —————-

2015 he had the injury, he’s been poor since coming back in 2016. Gordon is currently a better keeper than him, seems strange we would use money for him to sit on the bench.

  9. We have overloaded the management and backroom staff with ex Celts, a big mistake in my opinion and now fans are calling for us to sign ex players (well past their best).

Seems a bit weird how we’ve gone and going about things since the summer.

Disagree. What age was Craig when he was done?

    ——-

Age isn’t the problem it’s the recovery that matters, and FF hasn’t shown he’s recovered.

Gordon got a bad injury was out for a long time, signed for us and never really let us down.

PL may be his target , but we are the ones potentially being hit.

    The bottom line.

If Brendan was ever a friend of Celtic , his actions prove that he no longer is , and may well now be wishing us ill .

Fraser Forster has not been given a chance to prove his fitness. You are guessing. Ask his physiotherapist or Rab Douglas about his capabilities. You are wrong mate.

Reminds me of that grand old ditty I first heard as we marched through Govan after Jock Steins reserves had cuffed the huns 5-2 at Ibrox.

To the tune of the drunken sailor. It started:

    Burn , burn burn……………

Right now , however , to use a cricketing term , we need to ” steady the ship”.

    No knee jerk response.

Lenny will be feeling as we do. He needs our support.

  15. FF played 90mins of football last season, letting in 3 goals. And you want him to replace Gordon (and Bain).

I don’t get the Rab Douglas reference?

  16. Ex- we let them stretch the game, and it was wide open for 90 minutes, the 3 at the back exploited us and not them.

    That`s a good point.

Hybrid vigour is a good thing.

  18. The Evening Times have tonight refuted an earlier report suggest Scott Bain would be out for two months.

SunSport reported the ‘exclusive’ earlier this evening that Celtic would be missing their number one goalkeeper for up to 2 months.

However, these reports appear to be exaggerated and Bain is only going to miss the League cup game against Dunfermline through injury. Whether he gets back into the team after that is up to Neil Lennon.

The Evening times writes: “SCOTT Bain is set to miss only one game for Celtic despite fears a hand injury could sideline him for months.”

Bain has come under fire for his performances against Motherwell and Cluj. Craig Gordon has the chance to win the gloves back after being dropped in December 2018.

The only certainty about the position is Gordon WILL be in goals this Saturday.
