Yesterday’s Sunday Mail exposé on attempts by the SPFL to change the balance of power within the SFA in favour of the professional clubs, while changing their bowling club committee-approach to running the game, was worthy of some merit but clearly the result of an SFA leak designed to undermine the proposed changes.
Any organisation which has a built-in requirement for office-bearers to have enough spare time on their hands in the years before nomination to attend mind-numbingly boring committee meetings is set on a path for mediocrity. Only those not busy enough with real world issues and challenges will qualify, meaning your best talent is never eligible, which is why we end up with a president like Campbell Ogilvie, who met the mediocre standards and is kept there by equally able under-achievers.
The Sunday Mail try to make out that the proposed move is a grab for cash, although they also explain why this cannot really be the case. It’s not a grab for cash, it’s not a subversive plot by Premiership clubs, it is an acknowledgement by the professional clubs that the systems of governance and administration in the game is inept and that they do not currently have the control to change things.
Our game needs deliverance from the bowling club committee.

Looked at them but body swerved them. Got two fourfolds up:
Peterborough, Fleetwood, Scunthorpe and Rochdale. And Peterborough, Fleetwood, Scunthorpe and Chesterfield. Went for Teams that were playing for something. Stuck the same Teams and Chesterfield on second line as Rochdale was early K.O. A good weekend for me with a total of 3 fourfolds.

lavishing praise on self for Scotland’s t.v rights is a shocking state of affairs p.s. if the sfa did see an 85% rise in t.v revenue, then how much have we been short changed beforehand and lets be honest its an easier sell when you represent a nation rather than a small league.
p.s. if my reading was correct the c.o of the sfa was saying the clubs ought to take care of themselves and let the sfa take care of itself.
that is wrong on so many levels our youngsters are, in the main, not interested in our club football because its so poor. the sfa have a duty to improve our national game by whatever means possible.

Really hope this is the real deal regards SFA.
Hopefully this is the opening Salvo which will rid our game of these odious individuals that stifle the progress of our game due to their agendas and self serving policies .
The Alloa chairman would seem to have been selected as the guy to take the flak and test the water on behalf of the big guns.
Hopefully he can move things forward and let men of integrity such as Turnbull Hutton and Stephen Thomson take on the baton .
