Tisdale’s step up

95

After working for the club on an ad-hoc basis over the summer, Paul Tisdale (51), was confirmed as Head of Football Operations yesterday.  The Malta-born coach has extensive managerial experience in the English lower and non-leagues.  This is the first time he has worked for a club competing in top-flight or European football.

Tisdale’s most impressive tenure was a 12-year spell at Exeter City, whom he led into the Football League and spent two seasons in League One.  Since leaving Exeter six years ago, he spent less successful periods in charge at MK Dons, Bristol Rovers and Stevenage.  By any measure, this is a big step up on the level of player with whom he is familiar.

His job at Celtic is “to develop Champions League players through our Academy and recruitment processes”.  Despite extensive bed wetting across Central Scotland, the summer recruitment, which Paul participated in, is on target to meet those objectives.  Hopefully we can expect more of the same in the coming windows, doubtlessly with the same laundry consequences.

Just go in around the side down from a swimming pool/leisure centre and the security guards will give you a tour. They normally take small groups round and let you walk the pitch, go up the tunnel, into the changing rooms and on to the plinth were the Big Cup was lifted. Usually everyone gives the guard a wee bung, there’s no official cost. Just check before you travel there that it’s open as I thought that someone posted information on it being closed or closing for refurbishment

Apologies for the misunderstanding on the previous thread. I can see why you’d have taken it the way you did but it wasnt what was intended

SS- Brendan and other managers want players signed as early as possible

you miss the bit where brendan qualifies thhat statement with the caveat of “in an ideal world”.

just to stop the bedwetting, maybe we should get all next summers targets in on the first day of this winter window. availability or cost or wage demands matters not a jopt, just get them hired.

8 months early they will be ready for next seasons qualifiers.

Brendan made your exact point at a meeting with supporters from the Club Celtic lounges ,in the Kerrydale suite ,towards the end of last season .

Whilst he thought analytics were helpful ,they were not the only important factor in judging a player .

Pat Stanton ,Billy Stark ,Aaron Mooy,Lubo ,Bobo,Didier Agathe,Chris Sutton ,Ramon Vega ,Stanislav Varga,

would all probably look poor investments under our current model .If it was primarily based on analytics.

I think you might have thought I was suggesting you were being “clever.” I wasn’t, I was pointing out I wasnt being clever with my reply.

Cleared up? Probably not but there was honestly no intention to piss you off.

  6. Ah mean…and this affects Celtic fans worldwide as well btw, but, when the DUP are the the only party in Britain or Ireland [ No George Galloway’s Worker Party ] either, to open their doors and hear their voting constituents concerns you have to think….society and all of its levers of power are lying in the gutter.

The 6 Counties are being Guinea Pigged into rolling out the new world order. These are dangerous times.

That’s just across the water for you who still live in what’s left of Scotland.

What are the boat people really here for? Asking a question is not racism.

If you are “woke” or voting and agitating for pretendy Liberal Political parties and their clique hangers on who are all in on this evil ie: Free speech for those who agree with you and those who don’t must be silenced banned and hunted down, then you, and countless millions like you, are the reason why times are dangerous.

And you leave the door open for a visit from big karma.

Football means nothing compared to this evil. Wake the fck up.

Before there are no fans left…..

  7. Analytics: In the world of Suttons, certain analytics would be looked at, certainly not his speed or movement. The analytics of “Horses for Courses” is the one that is used more than most, por cierto

  8. Regards analyticals I am sure Lubos figures would have been fantastic. Maybe if they were in common use some of the top tier teams would have picked him up. Zidane was a big fan.

Wim Jansen knew Henrik was a player not because of his stats. But because he knew him.

Big Jock. Knew a player and trusted Sean Fallons judgement

  9. lets all do the huddle on

i think the point about the ‘bedwetter’ pish is that we have clearly had too many transfer windows come and go where we havent strengthened or spent the money we should and P67 had hit it with the ‘bedwetter’ patter during those transfer windows.

this time he hits it with the same patter, but this time i cant complain about how it ended. we spent cash, got good players etc etc

but that wetter pish just reeks of the ‘broken clock being right twice a day’ carry on

for a guy who can give it the high-brow talk when he needs to there isnt any need to stoop to such depths.

    leave that to us!

Of all the teams he played for it’s interesting Shortie chose to picture Aiden McGeady celebrating after scoring for the ROI to accompany their article on his retirement.

    I wonder why 🤔

They now call him “the Scotland born attacker” when referencing his caps for the ROI, which I suppose is a little less hate inducing than “the Glasgow born Irishman” David Begg (remember him?) always called him every time he touched the ball.

Wearing a Celtic jersey is a good idea. The staff at the stadium will know exactly why you are there, and they will accommodate if they can.

My wife and I went up to the stadium. Gates were shut. A security guard said that there was an event on and that a visit was not possible. I asked about another date. ‘Monday is fine’, he said.

We went back on the monday, they didn’t give us a ‘tour’. They gave us the run of the place. This included the tunnel and access to the pitch.

Afterwards, I went to the guy’s office and thanked him profusely. He said, ‘I understand. Celtic supporters come here – EVERY DAY’.

    Enjoy,

  15. lets all do the huddle on

we would never get all the players we wanted at the start of the transfer window.

i always think that agents love the media talk of their players being linked with us in the hope it generates interest elsewhere, because in reality i dont think players really want to come to scotland (for a number of reasons) but they will at then end of the window if there is nothing better financially on offer.

    hence the late signings,

    and P67’s bedwetter talk.

    just my opinion.

Aiden made the right choice having been picked at all levels for RoI.

Glad also his play showed how insular we are at noticing talent here.

If you honestly think that a decent player with a decent agent would immediately go to Celtic at the start of a window rather than wait to see if a big club from a top league was interested then, to be polite, you have a very different sense of the realities of how a football transfer market works than I do.

Maybe it will miraculously work that way because St Brendan wants but somehow I don’t think so.

I also think better to hear what the great man said in full as St Stivs mentions than edit to suit yourself.

I do agree this new guy is absolutely a Brendan appointment. I also have no idea if it will prove right for the club. There is little evidence of Brendan’s previous patsies adding anything of value in similar roles.

Personally I wish Brendan would get on with coaching and developing the football team and be backed and managed by a proper director of football the way so many other progressive clubs are these days. Clearly the Celtic board think differently and they have given him his own man again . Given the boards track record of success this past 25 years or so I will cut them some slack. I doubt the support will though should the manager not continue to deliver dominance like we have enjoyed or indeed step up in Europe. We will never have a better chance. The manager has every tool he could have hoped for. No excuses or finger pointing now.

Let’s see if we can deliver 5 domestic trophies (2 leagues) in next 2 years and last 16 CL just once. That would be reasonable as KPIs would you not say ?

  20. One thing I know,Brendan is a very intelligent person. He is also a football manager, and like every football manager worth his salt,he wants more, and better players,by hook or by crook.Remarks like”I want players in early”,are ridiculous in this transfer jungle we now have where the Agents hold the cards. They dictate the pace of transfers.Brendans words, gee up the fans, who then get on the case of the Board to act quickly. All normal.” This club should not be scraping around at the close of the window”,is another.

Why not, many clubs,EPL, Euro giants do.Brendan knows this.We are not Real,Man City,Barca,PSG,who most players would crave,we are from the SPFL,who operate in a country with shit weather, and a City Center which includes such beautiful walkways as,Sauchiehall St.I love him as a manager, but please spare me the “Quotes”,by him, as if they are sacrosanct. They are manager speak for,get you ass covered mate. Not at all unusual.
