Just as with the last round of games two weeks ago, Hearts get the chance to extend their lead at the top to five points before Celtic play a day later. On that occasion, both teams left it late, relying on added-time winners to secure home wins.
Those wins were against teams with similar form; both on 8 points and neither had until then been defeated. This weekend, Hearts are at Kilmarnock, who are third in the table, while Celtic are at 11th placed Dundee. That variance might be useful.
The game at Kilmarnock will tell us a lot about the season ahead. Killie’s only defeat this season was courtesy of that late penalty in their 1-2 defeat to Celtic. Five of their seven games have been against six of the other sides in the top seven places in the table. They are a well-organised and difficult to beat side, who after Hearts, can look forward to more comfortable matches against struggling Newco and Aberdeen.
If Derek McInnes’ Hearts can win on the Kilmarnock plastic, we will face a team fighting for the title at Tynecastle a week later, no matter what the result at Dens. The next three weeks have a crucial look to them.

Good shout. Got to be a better option than playing Nygren out there, especially when he looks capable of getting goals from a more inside forward position. Yang not too effective there but he does have strengths, and Jamesie more of an impact player these days. With Ralston and Donovan (U21) getting Scotland game time and AJ back in training, options on the left, the team could have a more balanced look about in the days ahead.
Left wingers are like buses you wait ages and then five come along at once
We’ve got several naturally right footed players all playing on the left wing cutting inside onto their right foot to shoot or pass the ball back across the field.
Surely one of them is capable of getting to the bye line on the right side and putting crosses or cut backs into the danger area.
Have some on here forgotten that Maeda can play on the left? Or that Balikwisha showed signs, (his contribution to our winning goal against Motherwell) of finding his feet and his sharpness and, who knows, might well be effective out on the left.

Our priority should be getting the best out of our best player from last season, Maeda.
We improved when Tounekti came off against Motherwell, how Brendan can get the best Celtic team on the pitch is why hes paid the big bucks as they say
garygillespieshamstring
Am I not right in remembering that Balikwisha’s cross for our winning goal against Motherwell, (from a superb pass from Engels) was made using his left foot?

Because B follows A, does not mean A caused B.
Several subs were made against Motherwell and they worked out, so BR did his job.
Some realism on Maeda may be needed as well. He’s went from the weakest of our Ange era trio of Jota, Maeda and Kyogo to being the main man. I don’t think he is a main man.
He had the season of his life last year and has reverted to mean. We may need to accept that and use his undoubted strengths to help us out over the next 2 and a bit months.
But trying to get him back to last season and in so doing jeopardise players that our performing well ? No.
Just got an email from the Celtic Ticket Office (in response to an inquiry about ticket fast print at home options)
….”We are currently in the process of moving from Ticketfast/Print at home and physical match tickets. This will become the default option for tickets depending on the competition.”
Which was not the answer I was looking for. Now, the Ticket Office introduced a more ‘digital’ process quite recently, think you had to open a type of ‘account’ to access, simple enough. But no mention of moving away from actual tickets. Anybody know how that will work, or not as is the case?

Bobby Clark signing in January, £6 million, a club signing?
Is that an experienced replacement for Kasper?

Tounekti, Ihaenacho Maeda got us a goal from a pen in nearly three games against Braga, Hibs and Motherwell. Changing it was hardly a masterstoke, more an act of desperation.
It’s not working, Brendan needs to look at doong something different with what hes got.
Here’s a thought ….
Why don’t we just sell the last in the door of the “too many left wingers” in January to fund the purchase of a right winger?
That would be Sebastian Tounetki, announced 01 September …
… 4 days after Brendan’s choice of left winger, Balikwisha, was announced.

A wee meander through history – rereading Walfrid and the Bould Bhoys.
The original Barrowfield Park – not to be confused with the current Barrowfield Training facility, was the home of Clyde FC, a mile or so from First Celtic Park, and right in the Sacred Heart of Brigton, and Glengary.
Just south of Norman Street and the conks. East of the Police HQ at the Clyde gateway.
This is an important site in Celtics history – why is that ?

Doing something different, changing set up – with 2 games a week now upon as we enter a crucial few weeks, is for the birds. We’re doing fine with what we’ve got. Sustain it and strengthen the side in January.
Maeda will in all likelihood be out the door in ten weeks, making him our number one priority is nonsensical.
By all means utilise him and he can go with all our blessings in January.
Just heard on the ol’ wirelessthere that HMRC have issued a winding up order on Sheffield Wednesday for failing to pay taxes to the Crown. (sound familiar?)
No truth in the rumour that they will come back as er Sheffield Thursday….
Celtic FC Foundation, the charitable arm of Celtic Football Club, has announced a donation of £100,000 to the UN World Food Programme (WFP), and has also expanded its feeding initiatives in its own communities by another £100,000.
The overseas funds are intended to support emergency assistance in Gaza where WFP continues to operate. WFP is the world’s largest humanitarian organisation, saving lives in emergencies and using food assistance to build a pathway to peace, stability and prosperity for people recovering from conflict, disasters and the impact of climate change.
It is estimated that currently 640,000 people in Gaza remain in conditions of famine and 132,000 children are at risk of death through acute malnutrition. The donation aims to address these urgent hunger needs in Gaza, through WFP.
Celtic FC Foundation, which primarily focuses on delivering its own initiatives in communities across Glasgow, London and Ireland, has previously responded to global humanitarian crises in various areas across Africa, Ukraine, Syria, Turkey, Morocco and Mexico.
This allocation aligns with the Club’s origins, which were rooted in addressing poverty and hunger among marginalised communities in Glasgow’s East End.
The Foundation emphasises its commitment to neutrality on political issues while prioritising humanitarian aid, with a focus on practical support for those in need. WFP was selected for its ongoing efforts to provide lifesaving food assistance in Palestine, including the Gaza Strip, where many individuals and families depend on external support for survival.
Additionally, Celtic FC Foundation has allocated another £100,000 to extend its Paradise Pit Stop initiative and invest in existing community partners to provide food for people who cannot make it to Celtic Park. This is on top of the £300,000 per year the Foundation invests in opening Celtic Park to feed people four times per week.
Celtic FC Foundation’s range of other activities include domestic projects such as fuel voucher distributions in Scotland, an annual Christmas appeal aimed at marginalised families and individuals, and community-based health and inclusion projects, alongside significant international outreach work across the USA, Malawi and Zambia.

I have been thinking for a while now, to properly align with the founding fathers original mission statement, is there any reason why Celtic cannot include in our stategic goals –
When in profit, the plc will donate 105 of pre-tax income to Celtic foundation.
Would a £3 million donation satisfy the collective more than paying taxes ?
Something acheivable ?
Also get a proper pay revue done on exec salaries, why does MN earn £800k for a turnover of £130m.

The Times have linked us with Bobby Clark for January.
A very welcome development and hopefully something that augurs well for a busy January window.
We need to be aiming to replicate that January window in Ange’s first season – have 2 or 3 announced on New Year’s Day if not before.

My thoughts exactly, he only turned 80 last month 🙃
a quick scan of the last accounts, (still waiting on this years annual report bttw) we made £4m in interest last year, give it all to the foundation.

Broony, Lennon, Lawwell, all threw the 10 season under the bus.
BUT.
Who cares as long as Neil Lennon, the ultimate croppy bhoy, is there to be blamed for all of it?
All seated era Celtic fans love having a croppy bhoy there to point all of their fingers at.
Not a single Celtic Cyberspace plodcaster has asked Shane Duffy what he meant by his comment during the 10 season were he infered that a wee bit more than horse play was going on?
Shane Duffy said:
“I’M LIVING THE DREAM OF EVERY CELTIC FAN FROM IRELAND AND ELSEWHERE, BUT ESPECIALLY IN DERRY WHERE I COME FROM.
TO COME TO THE THE CLUB IN SUCH AN IMPORTANT SEASON IN CELTIC’s HISTORY, I CAME TO HELP THE CLUB ACHIEVE THE 10 IN A ROW AS BEST I COULD.
BUT WHEN I GOT HERE, I COULD NOT BELIEVE THE [CRAZY GOINGS ON BEHIND THE SCENES] IN SUCH AN IMPORTANT AND HISTORICAL SEASON FOR THE CLUB.”
Who cares what Shane Duffy said when there is Neil Lennon to blame?
Who cares if Celtic plodcasters are so full of guff that they couldn’t even ask Shane Duffy about his 10 in a row season comments?
And weeks later, AFTER, his comments, big useless Shane Duffy disappeared back to the EPL and played like Billy McNeill again.
Shane Duffy wasn’t useless.
But in a club were there are [CRAZY GOINGS ON BEHIND THE SCENES] then it could explain why we had a Shane Duffy 11 playing every game that season.
But of course none of this matters so long as Neil Lennon is there to be blamed.
Yeah right.
The Huns weren’t terrified of Covid. They didn’t even have a single Covid mask on in the stadium for the fear of being called a “dim Tim” much better to join the foreign legion.
For the 10 in a row season blame game, just like the shame game all over again.
Blame Neil Lennon.
Neil Lennon is correct about DD and Lawwell.
Timdom continually proves that it is full of easily gaslit fools.
But its Neil Lennon’s fault.
Where are all of the questions, articles, podcasts, posts, about why the entire stadium rose in celebration of Maeda’s late winner vs Motherwell, but Lawwell sat on his fat ass with his head in his hands!!!!!
https://videocelts.com/2025/10/blogs/latest-news/how-did-peter-lawwell-celebrate-maedas-last-gap-winner/
Whose zooming who?
Match fixing going on and Johnny Foreigner didn’t get the message?
Just like Bernardo and Idah in the SCF vs the Huns 2 years ago?
Straight into the Rodgers doghouse they both went, for the crime of being Hun skelpers?
Timdom always takes the wee feart sheepy way oot.
Nothing changes until we get a new supporter base.
NOTHING!!!!!
It’s Neil Lennon’s fault that he did not sack himself during the surrendered 10 season.
BUT.
Rodgers can stand on the touchline with ALL of last seasons Transfer Window sitting on the bench behind him, whilst he blows 40 million Champions League money as he shows how fkn useless he REALLY is vs Kiarat Almaty [who?] nobody had ever heard of them until we were drawn against them?
Get your knives sharpened for Neil Lennon without even blinking.
BUT.
Rodgers is 75k per week top quality whilst he plays his chinese wispering violin on the touchline, sobbing for more players, with the ENTIRE Transfer Window from last season sitting on the bench behind him?????
Celtic FC is full of spoiled Tory bastids ripping the piss out of 60,000 docile dullards who would grass you before they’d look at you.
Close it down. Timdom is finished.
Paper Aeroplane rebels will achieve heehaw.
Anybody whose first name is “SIR” is not the answer.
Neil Lennon says things that you might not like to hear.
Neil Lennon was appointed as manager in the showers yet fans blame Neil Lennon cause they have not got the backbone to sack the board.
And everybody knows it apart from dim Tims.
Blame the trolls/racists/plants/hunterlopers/yadda/yadda
cause it makes you feel all virtyoous and pretendy good guys.

It should be beyond them to create a shadow board, in particular wrt governance and pay.
Many companies provide pay grade and job role information, much of it free.
I would like them to do that, and publish it, rent billboard space, get facts in big locations.

Doing something different, changing set up – with 2 games a week now upon as we enter a crucial few weeks, is for the birds.
We tried it in desperation against Braga, we tried different players against Motherwell in desperation. We’ve had a couple of weeks thinking time, it’s now or never.
You should have a word with Brendan about Daizen not being our number one priority – he keeps on keeping him on the pitch and subbing off those in form players. Hes our number one attacker at the moment for sure
SS
We could but we wont, the ambition is simply not there, conservatism strikes again.
More seats more turnover therefore it allows us potentially to have a greater budget for the First Team, easy to do no, will cost, but surely Celtic have the business and investment contacts to make it happen, if, there is a willingness on the part of the board. With 70% allowed to be spent of the Football side we have to grow turnover or we will be even less competitive, I’m sure most fans understand this but if they are continually used as a cash machine they will stop buying. I doubt going by what was said at the meeting that the penny is dropping in the boardroom.

Grow income, not just turnover. A profitable player trading model is more vital than ever.
What business is it of anyone on CQN what employees of Celtic FC earn, unless the complainer is a shareholder? To come on here and name a director and his remuneration is beyond belief.
Also, we’ve had weeks of moans, groans, meetings, protests and boycotts over the board’s poor performance in the transfer window and in particular, their dalay in completing deals. Yet reports of a £6m midfielder deal being talked-up more than 2 months ahead of the January window is greeted with – Is he a club signing?
Not going about it very well then, it looks shambolic, with players not signed for when we need them costing us this season the CL group stage and qualification in previous years. Why is this only being reviewed this year is it not obvious to our highly paid execs?
Anyone whos been to Aston Villa’s ground will know how bad the stand theyre renovating is – it’s a real 70s functional eyesore. The boxes look terrible from the outside – nearly as bad as the nutters who sit in front of them
DESSYBHOY on 16TH OCTOBER 2025 4:57 PM
Our player trading model is failing, I’ll agree with that.
When we get back to operating sensibly we should be ok but it might take a couple of years to see the benefits
