Title credentials will be tested

111

Falkirk are five points clear of Dundee United and Aberdeen with a game in hand over both, and having won three of their last four games, are bettered only by Hibernian over that period.  There is clear green water between them and fifth placed Hibs, but Falkirk’s spot as sixth in the table before the split looks secured.

Dundee were the only side to score against Falkirk during that four game run, when they withstood a 23-shot onslaught to win 1-0.  A draw against Newco at the Falkirk Stadium led to ugly scenes and the departure of Russell Martin.  Newco’s replacement survived a draw in the return fixture at Ibrox as John McGlynn’s proved he is a manager of substance.

Their trips to Celtic Park this season have been less successful.  A 4-1 defeat saw them exit the League Cup, before a 4-0 Celtic win in Martin O’Neill’s first game in charge this season.  Johnny Kenny scored the opening two goals that night, how he would like to rekindle that kind of confidence.

As things stand, I am far from convinced of our title credentials (the news we will be without Jota for a whole season did not help in this respect), however, credentials are established on plastic pitches and cold nights in places like Falkirk.  Martin and Shaun’s wizardry will be tested.

Saying that 1.5 MILLION ALL MEN FROM ARABIA/AFRICA/ASIA come into UK EVERY YEAR without any documentation of who they are means that they are not refugees.

Its not racist to observe this jiggery pokerry, no matter how much you want it to be.

Your stuck in a moment and you can’t get out of it because you have nothing else to throw.

Just ask any Irish dog, on any Irish street, they obviously know more about the Irish landscape than you ever will.

These huge numbers of mysterious people, all flown past their own WAR FREE Countries to come to wee tiny austerity starved for 40 YEARS Britain, to do what?

Where are all of the houses, drainage, jobs, coming from for these poor people?

You can’t accept that Corbyn, WPB, Yvonne Ridley, Alba Party, etc, are the only hope of getting out of the web of lies in Scotland, caused by 17 years of the Celtic/Catholic/hating/Snp/Greens/ that you voted for, turning Scotland into a bitter, gender bending, swamp, but you don’t have the balls or Integrity to admit voting for this trash.

Straight talk will come from the WPB if you listen to them then even you might learn something?????

  4. I hope I’m wrong but I don’t think MON can help us with the shambles they’ve created at our club.

  5. Nothing to say about a lack of strikers or the absence of a credible football department to obtain recruits, if we lose the league it’s because of that issue and that lies with the Board of Celtic plc. Heads must roll.

  6. Our “custodians” are an embarrassment.

We are “only” customers to them.

    THEY REALLY ARE CELTICS SHAME.

The Managed Decline is very very clear for all to see, apart from them who wish NOT to see it.

Those in the seats have become our very own Whytes & Kellys…and they will and should be remembered just like them before the immortal words “The Rebels Have Won”…They must know that their days are numbered…and are just trying to bleed every penny that they can out of Celtic, before we hopefully hear that “The Rebels Have Won”

    They are Shameless…Spineless….Embarrassing….

Them and Theirs WILL & SHOULD be remembered as so…

We all know that the structure of the club is a shambles – coming on here and repeating the same stuff day in and day out isn’t insightful and certainly doesn’t bestow some intellectual superiority (although one or two seem to think it does).

  8. Dexter P. Bampot on 14th January 2026 1:00 pm

In the 25/26 season, Rangers have spent approx €36m on incoming transfers, Celtic have spent approx €15m (Tansfermkt)

*This is backs to the wall time until the summer – every chance that implies loans rather than buys.

We have done exactly that in the not-too-distant past. Perhaps not to the same extent as their counterparts down south. Still, they parted with significant sums at the start of the 2022/23 campaign. Alexandro Bernabei (£3.75m), Cameron Carter-Vickers (£6m) and Jota (£6.4m) did not come cheap.

The following season, after Brendan Rodgers had replaced Ange Postecoglou as manager, around £20m was spent bringing on board the likes of Odin Thiago Holm, Maik Nawrocki, Gustaf Lagerbielke, Luis Palma, Yang Hyun-jun and Kuhn.

The purse strings were well and truly loosened last term. Paul Bernardo (£3.4m), Adam Idah (£8.5m), Auston Trusty (£6m), Arne Engels (£11m) and Jota (£9m) all came in along with several others in an unprecedented £40m spending spree.

  10. Celtic 40 Me,

Nope, sorry. This transfer fiasco at present, has nothing to do with Brendan..Dear God he left because it was ongoing then.It all has to do with,The Moustache and Nicholson. It was they who hired an absolute Managerial disaster from America and Exeter, with his Palitoy version of Transfers For Beginners’. Was there never a,”Hi,just checking in to see how the old transfer wish list is progressing”,so bad he gets bumped,in the Window, with no replacement !!!!.

This could and should be written as a West End Farce.Too ridiculous and crap for words.

  11. Totine Tim,

Funny when the odd time the Board HAVE spent some money on transfers, the exact amounts are shown.

Just that the amount that we took in somehow fails to be mentioned.Every Window,no matter what was spent with Brendan as manager,we made a profit.

  12. Tim malone will tell.

Like everyone I hope we get some decent value and decent effective signings to enable us to win the league this year and re-set with a new management team and structure in the business now.

So same sad folk on here every day moaning about issues we can do nothing about now in the hope it makes them feel better about themselves or to cover something missing in their worlds. Not a thing clever about that in my view.

Someone just been on about a rangers loan signing worth €14m. The guy has been a dud at a failing Wolfsburg outfit.

Of course same guy would not dream of mentioning we have a €10m rated signing already in for rest of season at right back.

Sure they have an option to buy but these things rarely work through and certainly don’t offer bargains where players have 3 years to run on Bundesliga wages.

Still if it makes people feel better to rant about Celtic being in a mess rather than try to support them getting better then I guess let them keep taking their medicine. Cheaper than therapy.

  13. Turkeybhoy 3.06 – Very true, we got told often enough that the board backed him with 20-odd million for Idah and Engels without acknowledging that it was bankrolled by selling first team players for an even greater sum. We are made to think that the board were somehow going out on a limb by actually splashing a bit of the green stuff.

  14. Tontine Tim

Plenty of sad hunterlopers as well as a few of our own ‘nothing will ever be good enough’ faithful and a few that just need help sadly.

It takes all sorts to make a blog.

No one denying we don’t need our structure and football set up to change now. No one denying we could t do with a few decent signings. No one denying folk aren’t working at it. Still folk want a good moan. It’s a good thing according to Dr Google.

Our recruitment record has been appalling for a number of years and is now crystalising.

And I’m not talking about footballers, though lord knows we can do very much better with so many “lessons learned” in recent windows.

We appointed a CEO and fired him after 4 months. (How was he to know that you don’t give 30 year old players with longstanding injury problems a 4 year contract on top terms 😂)

He was replaced by our in-house counsel, a good guy with deep expertise in Sports law but zero experience of running a large enterprise, let alone leading high performance teams in a complex business.

We appointed as Chairman the guy who used to be the CEO, perhaps to provide support to the novice CEO. Again though, the skillset required of a non-exec Chair is quite different to that of a chief exec and the appointment failed – witness the issues around governance, decision making and club-wide consensus.

We appointed a football manager who had skyed the park on us mid-season following months of internal strife in his previous stint. That it all went the same way this time round is in retrospect no great surprise, though hugely regrettable.

One of the problems with BR’s approach is that he insists on running the whole show and when he goes he takes everyone with him. As he did. Again.

We appointed as his replacement a guy who didn’t have the experience or talent for the job, with catastrophic results.

And we appointed a guy as our Head of Football Operations who has no business being in such a role at this club. After more than a year in the job it is not possible to identify what he had done in the role other than recommend the appointment of the catastrophic manager.

Of those mentioned above, only the CEO remains in post and goodness knows he’s hanging onto the job by his fingernails.

All of the other key posts are vacant.

Plus many of the subsidiary roles – coaching, recruitment, department management and so on.

Think about that for a second: We have a highly complex business that is essentially leaderless and lacking the key people to drive performance in virtually every respect.

There is no sign of any succession planning. No indication that it has even been considered. We lose a key performer and… it comes as a complete surprise, even despite us sacking him!

As I said at the start, our recruitment at every level has been appalling for a number of years. The air is thick with the sound of chickens coming home.

  20. MON is not a stupid man. He is actually very intelligent and very experienced in both life and football.

At 73 years old, he took over the club answering the call from DD when BR departed the building.

He worked with the board to achieve 7 from 8 wins. A remarkable achievement given the results beforehand.

Things went pear-shaped with the naive appointment of WN.

Again MON deep into retirement answered the call.

I ask myself:- If the board were that bad to work with, the players all Honda Civic’s and the environment was toxic.

Why on earth would MON even contemplate coming back. ?

Never heard of this guy, so no idea if good or bad.

“Belgium Under-21 captain Tuur Rommens has completed his Rangers transfer to become Danny Rohl’s second signing of the January window.”

  23. Burnley 78 -thanks for pointing that out. I suspect these days most clubs do it with a bit more professionalism than we do so that the players that are sold are replaced in a timely manner and with the required qualities.

We used to be good at it but the times have changed and we haven’t. The Tisdale disaster has left us floundering like fools.

  24. wake up everyone. Take a step back and imagine we are at the end of the season looking back at how and why we lost the league. Summer Window, Rodgers, Euro embarrassment, AGM Disaster, Fan Protests, Multiple Hamstrings, Nancy , Tisdale, Jan Window – add the decisions Rangers and Hearts are getting as well as their organization in signing players early.

You really think we are still in contention to win this league – not a chance! UNLESS Dermot gets his ass over and wraps up the signing and wages policy and goes for this title.

Aint gonna happen – he is thinking of new manager funds in the summer and possibly/hopefully selling our club for a fresh start next season.

Thats how far we’ve fallen – most important is what we do next to compete in the next decade – we had a chance to bury them financially ($40m lost this season) – now its tit for tat going forward. No more dominance .

It would seem that, according to some, the fans are at fault for everything, first, for having employed people to run the club who are several levels beneath the required standard, then, when those people are finally found wanting, it is again the fans fault for dismissing them, and, of course, the fans fault for not having a suitable replacement ready, even though the failure stemmed from hiring the wrong person in the first place.

The craven hand-wringers on here will give themselves an aneurysm one day, trying to force those square pegs into round holes.
