Title talk can wait

245

The Scottish Premiership post-split fixtures, issued yesterday, were kind to Celtic.  The anticipated trip to Ross County, capacity 6,500, comes first, a day the title cannot be decided.  Win there, and next game against Newco, and a point at home to Hearts on 7 May would be enough to decide season 2021-22.

Let’s have no more talk about this until we take care of the important business ahead.  We have a Scottish Cup semi-final against a team good enough to reach the Europa League quarter-finals, with a real chance of progressing further.  Celtic will need a new gameplan for Sunday, especially with enforced chances likely up front.  The Scottish Cup is our only focus.

Good morning all from Govanhill. A fine day for a leisurely stroll around my southside kingdom.

  2. Quick look at Sentinel Celts sees that the Number 1 chump has returned AGAIN after his self imposed exile.

How many times does this shameless chump Dramatise his exile only to come back.

Probably as many times as this Shameless chump asking for a spare ticket for the semi on Sunday.

BIG JIMMY,Orr Street Jimmy did Tommy Burns and I forget the boys first name Collins who was a coach at Patrick Thistle there when you stayed there ,also Jimmy can I ask did you have a brother that worked with the Gas Board down in Brigton,

    ……….

Sorry mate but you have me mixed up with NEWRAD, HE stayed in Orr St…not me. I was in Easterhoose til I got married in 1977, and bought a Flat in Dennistoun.

I am an only child. Although I inherited 3 half brothers later in life.

it was Gerry Collins as some have mentioned.

I think Tommy Burns was brought up in SOHO St…in the CALTON .

    Chin up David Bhoy.

I still hope that you can get that Ticket from somewhere, so sorry but these days I am not in a position to help.

as for SC, thats why I dont even bother to lurk on there, as I do NOT wish to subject myself to the LIES and RANTINGS of a 3 year old with a two year old brain.

HE is TOP of the LOONEYTUNES Chart. If hes again threatened to leave SC, and then return yet again, its ONLY because he is a SERIAL ATTENTION SEEKER, who seeks sympathy from any Posters.

I have NO desire to even Post HIS Moniker on here, but HE SHOULD be BANNED from here…NO MATTER what ” New Moniker” he provides !

HH Mate and hopefully someone will help you get a Ticket asap ?

I could walk home from the city centre in about half an hour..

Didny need bus fare on a Saturday night!

  11. I had a good day at Newmarket Racing yesterday.

Watching on TV obviously, I had the FIRST FOUR WINNERS……at 9/1, 11/2. 3/1 and 5/4.

Sadly I also had a FIFTH runner on that ” Lucky 31″ Line which finished SECOND at 4/1 or 9/2.

Now, IF that FIFTH Runner had WON I would have got Mega Bucks back…but I aint complaining …as I got a nice wee return and a ” Run for my Money”.

My Nags are already on for Today at Newmarket.

Quick look at Sentinel Celts sees that the Number 1 chump has returned AGAIN after his self imposed exile.

With all due respect, what is the point of coming on to CQN and complaining about the actions of a “chump” on a completely different blog?

Many CQN regulars have rightly expressed approval of Big Jimmy’s reinstatement. Bringing up the behaviour of his so-called nemesis on another blog smacks of obsessive pot-stirring. If the chump comes on to CQN and starts causing trouble then he is fair game. Until then, let the patrons of SC deal with him where necessary.

I don’t think it does Big Jimmy any favours by stoking the embers of past disagreements on here.

  17. I don’t agree that the post split fixtures have been kind to us. Why are we starting with an away game? We will have played 16 home games and 18 away games. To me this is another spfl pockle. They are hoping we drop points in dingwall and sevco win at motherwell to give sevco some hope.

Hopefully the cheats will be undone. We win at ross county and maybe sevco drop points and we go into the game against the old firm with an increased lead.

Ukraine is a very complex topic / situation.

The basics are that the current violence was started by VP.

That is the VP that prances about stripped to the waist and looks a twat.

He invaded the Ukraine / threw the first punch and is rightly taking the blame.

His efforts are single handedly turning Ukraine into a fully functioning country after 32 years of being in some sort of childish / teenage limbo.

For the record it looks like USA / 1812 all over again — Canada was just an afterthought / name on a map until the US invaded and over the space of 3 years turned it into a fully functioning / integrated national entity — great what the law of unintended consequences can deliver. What Admiral GR started — President JM finished.

Ukraine today — VP is to blame. He threw the first punch / took the conflict to a new level and no number of scraps from the past 8 / 21 / 68 / 96 / 103 / 117 / 225 years can change that.

War is a horrible business — always has been / always will be — and in extremis humans will do extreme things especially if the people they are doing them to have been de-humanised in the national narrative that they have been immersed in / cannot escape from.

Consequently stop digging — VP is destroying Russia from the inside.

All fur coat and nae knickers was a common viewpoint and now he proves it on the world stage.

If he wanted to save the Donbass — he had 8 years to generate / deliver the narrative.

The neo fascist / right wing mentalists of the Azov Brigade gave him enough chances.

Yet either he was lazy or it wasn’t strong enough — so it didn’t happen.

    Throwing the first punch.

Wrecking a country / destroying the civic realm then leaving.

    Not a good look.

40 year anniversary of the Falklands offers a similar viewpoint.

Awkward situation from the years of European expansion.

Open to a number of differing viewpoints.

However a right wing dictatorship threw the first “punch”.

Maggie lost the Falkland’s without a fight because she was lazy / stupid / ignorant.

No matter her failures — an Argentinian threw the first punch.

Not a good look — from a dictatorship towards a democracy.

Something to ponder as we move towards Easter.

Revolutionary violence to deliver a reality that democracy couldn’t support.

    Not a good look either.

Hertz away as their last fixture — 2nd most difficult fixture.

Buried so as not to influence the run in.

Game on — Hertz will know what to do.

Game over — Hertz will make a game of it.

I got a call yesterday morning from my Aunt that my dear auld uncle Pat (Paddy Reilly) died that very morn from a heart attack, untimely taken at 75. What can i say except i’m heartbroken.

This was my Da’s wee brother who was only 11yrs older than me. We were great pals, he took me to my first game at 5 and so it continued…..the 1st of the 9 at fir park wi the ‘buzz bomb’ scoring, right through the euro years with the lions, his tattoo on his forearm of the European cup from ‘Terry’s’ (at the bottom of Millerston St next to the ‘General Wolf’) Vojvodina, Leeds, the Henrik years etc etc we rarely (well he) missed a game. We separated briefly during my mad teenage years were i wis a ‘Jungle Jim’ and full of it. Sometimes during those years whenever i wanted to hook up wi him i knew where to find him……the exact same spot we always stood, in the Cellic end up at the back, where in the past the weans could be flung up in the girders so we could see

    the game.

Along came the Martin O’Neil years and the seats. Pat got one more or less on the same spot in the ‘Cellic’ end. Me?, i didn’t get one..i was an impoverished touring musician and could rarely get to a game. That soon changed when i became a Da’ i settled down and got a seat in the hun end would you believe. That also soon changed and a seat became available beside Pat, i got it, and we were together again for the next 20yrs. Happy days.

Over the last couple of years he was really struggling to get up the stairs (to stubborn to take the lift btw), mainly because of an old injury in his hip from his scaffolder years. So we discussed relocating next season to the tier below, especially as i wis going onto my concession ticket turning 65. On Saturday against St Johnstone he couldn’t make it so i did a ‘recky’ underneath the top tier to view possible seating areas to relocate (if available). Wow great seats with a great view and could cut out a number of flights of stairs, the very dab, I’ll speak to him later and we could get the forms in before renewal.

Alas, it was not to be, His wife Helen called me yesterday morn with the news. It seemed all very quick….wee chest pain, no feeling well, better get up to A&E, aye he’ll be ok, …..to sorry we did everything we could but he’s passed away, WTF.

So Hail Hail My friend, we had a blast!

Even more sinister – and its only your post that has triggered this thought – Hearts will likely have a Cup Final to play the week after the hun game so will be even less likely to “compete” 🙄

    I’m sure that’s just a coincidence 🤔

  23. I don’t expect the Old Firm to drop any points other than at CP; they are defending their trophy after all.

As such, the game on 1 May is huge. We have home advantage and 2 of the 3 possible results suit us. I can’t see us losing that game if we play our normal game.

I think the most likely scenario is a 6 point lead after the Hearts game and we have de facto won the trophy. confirmed no matter what the result up at Tannadice.

Ross County away is not a gimme as they could easily make Europe from their position right now and have something to fight for. On the other hand, we have better players in each position by a mile.

No matter what combination of fixtures were allocated for Celtic’s last 5 games, the perma-paranoid would find anti-Celtic bias if they looked hard enough.

So Ross County away isn’t a ‘gimme’. We could say the same about our 4 other games. How dare they not give us an easy first game.

Why can’t some people just enjoy the magnificent position we are in? We are chasing a possible treble in Ange’s first season. We’re playing fantastic football through that chase.

Ditch the paranoia about fixtures. Enjoy the ride.
