Tom, Davie, Development Squad face Valencia

Good luck to the Development Squad for their Uefa Youth League one-off cup tie against Valencia this evening. A win would see Celtic proceed to the quarter final – no mean feat when you consider the way some bigger league clubs harvest scores of youth players from across the globe.

Kick-off is 5pm, if you can get to Celtic Park. It’s not THE Champions League, but it’s an important metric we should follow.

Delighted Davie Hay and Tom Boyd are  Celtic Ambassadors. I see enough of what the Celtic support to here to know the value of the club, but we can never take these values for granted. The Celtic Movement needs leaders. Davie and Tom have been informal ambassadors of the club for years, as many of you can testi

We are all of a similar mind I suspect. Blogs tend to polarise views as we get down to binary decisions. Keep or sack manager? Change or support the Board?

Actually for me neither of these decisions are straight forward or likely to work on their own. For me it’s more about a change of strategy/ direction. I accept we are living within our means but I also believe we can take managed risks. I’d personally prefer more £5m players than multiple £1.5m.

I also recognise not many £5m players want to play in Scotland. Hence why European success is important not just as a revenue stream but as a recruitment and retention tool.

I ham up my monomaniac obsession with PL and his ‘grossly inflated £20k/ week salary’ ( Auld Bertie- that’s a self paradyfor your benefit) but I do question this as it’s morally wrong in my view but wrong commercially when we are down scaling operations. So

Failure is probably a strong statement. I think it’s as close to the mark as Success.

Right now we are treading water but the tide is coming in..

I agree that we’re not a million miles apart.

Regarding the £5million players, as you say many won’t want to come here, especially if we miss the CL.

I’d also add that while the fee’s always come into it, the wages will restrict the rest of the squad. I’d like us to try and sign the odd player at that price if we think they can be stars.

That’s a big gamble though. Look at Finnbogasson.

It’s not a hanging offence if he hasent got the money to pay it, but as I said you don’t have to start paying back the loan till your course is fin. And even then if you can’t you can cut a deal, and at least make the effort, as long as you make the effort to pay it I’v no problem with that, but if you just don’t even try, then your a parasite, sorry that’s the way I feel.

    I sort of agree :-)

The reason I react is that it’s the lies and spin that bother me, if I disagree with something a poster writes, I offer a reason, I don’t attack the poster for his post or beliefs.

If I say the team or coach or board are not doing as well as I reckon they should be, I give reasons why.

Now the poster who tends to dominate the blog has tried to spin his way out of disrupting the blog with lies, he is changing his tune from his original post this morning, he now says it’s about not paying back a loan when his original post was attacking the ” Uni Mob ” on here.

Have a look see, and watch the spin from the poster.

Was refreshing to hear tom Boyd on Sportsound last night, we’ve been crying out for sometime to hear an ex player come on the air and back the team. Wonder how much more air time he’ll get though.

At one of the first CQN nights at Celtic Park I won a framed Celtic strip signed by the players of the day. Tom Boyd came over to the table later to congratulate me and just have a blether. I mentioned to him that one of the mates loved him and would never allow a bad word to be said about him. Tom asked me if I had his number on my phone which I did, he asked me to phone him and then walked off with my phone to a quiet area where he spoke to him for about 20 minutes.

Small things like that that Tom probably wont ever remember but he made my mates night and he still raves about it to this day. One of us, for us. not enough like him.

I also heard that Ferguson interview.

Sounded like a couple of schoolboys interviewing their hero footballer from the team they support!

No prizes for anyone guessing who!

LuxCelt, my error, I understand he is an under 21 internationalist (different I know) but to the point, is night and day compared to Danny Wilson and Rob Keirnan.

Glasstwothirds, I was incensed by that interview so much so that I filled in the BBC Complaints form. Now love him or hate him, Ian Ferguson is one of the most decorated players in Rangers FC history and they chose to ask him this rubbish, which play’s to sectarianism and the lowest common denominator. You wouldn’t believe the answer I got back, The BBC send the complaint to Sportsound (the people who made the show) and they decided there was nothing wrong with it, you couldn’t make it up, the accused is also the judge , maybe it will catch on over the next few months …………..

So that people are aware that if they find their enjoyment of this great site is being jeopardised by trolls they can easily be avoided.

It’s fine to scroll past but when you’re scrolling par nearly an entire page of messages it’s boring. This way is quicker.

It’s not a case of removing viewpoints that I don’t agree with. It’s how they’re put across. I almost never agree with Ernie Lynch but I still like to read his posts. Same with Neganon.

I am currently banned from RadionClyde. I was a regular caller and my reason for calling was to point out pro Hun bias. Mostly centred around the relative fawning of Super Ally.

Anyhow on my last call I was prepared to question some pro Hun nonsense when Gerry ( bid up tv celeb) asked me to comment on the issue of referees befor I made my point as this had been the previous discussion. I answered simply that I had no faith in them and my view was that they were corrupt as evidenced by ‘Douggie Dougie’ etc. if I recall it was after the ICT penalty incident.

So I was roundly condemned and cut off. I was then phoned by producer who told me I had exposed the programme and myself to libel. That referees could sue both Snyde and me.

I was so hacked off by this lunacy that I complained formally to both Snyde and Ofcom.

The executive producer called me a few days later ( Brian Page) and said The producer has complete editorial discretion but he felt I was unfairly dealt with. Told me he had to support his producer’s decision. Consequently I am banned.

I know I am banned for expressing anti Hun views and suspect the producer is a Hun.

That’s what we are up against. …

In fairness Brian Page was very reasonable on the phone and through exchange of email he recognised Ibwas not just an Internet bampot….still dissenting voices are quashed.
