Tom, Davie, Development Squad face Valencia

Good luck to the Development Squad for their Uefa Youth League one-off cup tie against Valencia this evening. A win would see Celtic proceed to the quarter final – no mean feat when you consider the way some bigger league clubs harvest scores of youth players from across the globe.

Kick-off is 5pm, if you can get to Celtic Park. It’s not THE Champions League, but it’s an important metric we should follow.

Delighted Davie Hay and Tom Boyd are  Celtic Ambassadors. I see enough of what the Celtic support to here to know the value of the club, but we can never take these values for granted. The Celtic Movement needs leaders. Davie and Tom have been informal ambassadors of the club for years, as many of you can testi

There was a pub directly across the road from my school (St Gregory’s, Lightburn, Glasgow)

A few of us occasionally went in there at lunchtime in our school uniforms and were served, no problem.

    None of us near 18.

I blame the Dalriada for all my drink problems!

  5. My wife is not a catholic.

I explained the meaning of Lent to her and told her as a penance I am not speaking to her until Easter.

    She seemed OK wi’ that.

  10. Philbhoy,

I have been trying to remember the name of thon pub: The Dalriada. Didn’t folk venture to it from the likes of Easterhouse on a Sunday, when you had to be a “bona fide” traveller to get a drink in those days?

No doubt multiple images will start doing the rounds later via the usual outlets later showing the ‘shocking’ home support at Celtic home games, and the usual gullible numpties will buy it without realising its U19s.

Sure there’ll be a big crowd at Paradise on Saturday which will then be ignored.

    The world we live in.

  14. Just heard the most amazing fact – all EPL clubs, due to the massive uplift in TV money next season, could let fans in for free next season and still have the same income as this season.

But of course they won’t – as usual all the money will be “trousered’ by players and agents.

Shows how far out of the financial picture we are, when our league gets approx what is spent on just TWO EPL matches.

How much more absurd can things get? – probably we will see very soon with the likes of Guardiola and the players that follow him- a SINGLE manager and/or player being paid more in a season than Scottish Football as a whole gets in TV revenue.

The knock-on effect may effectively price us out of the external transfer market completely – getting close to EPL clubs e.g. Man City…etc and arranging loan-signings like Patrick Roberts, may be the future for us.

So please let’s stop ‘turning our noses up’ at loans – apart from developing our own, it may our best option in future.

Of course, when we do develop top talent like Tierney, Forrest, McGregor, Nisbet…etc, and bring in the likes of Christie, Allan – how long will we have them when the EPL, or even the Championship (with trickle down) come calling with their vastly increased revenue.

The big bhoy in the interview on the first page of this blog, just seen him collect the ball and bring it out of defence, looks handy and big :)
