Good luck to the Development Squad for their Uefa Youth League one-off cup tie against Valencia this evening. A win would see Celtic proceed to the quarter final – no mean feat when you consider the way some bigger league clubs harvest scores of youth players from across the globe.
Kick-off is 5pm, if you can get to Celtic Park. It’s not THE Champions League, but it’s an important metric we should follow.
Delighted Davie Hay and Tom Boyd are Celtic Ambassadors. I see enough of what the Celtic support to here to know the value of the club, but we can never take these values for granted. The Celtic Movement needs leaders. Davie and Tom have been informal ambassadors of the club for years, as many of you can testi

ROGER WILCO!!!
Corner count 10-1 Valencia.
But we’ve got the stat that counts.
Cracking finish for the goal:))
Mon The Young Team..
Paul said we were playing for a QF place here, yet commentator says last 16. Anyone know for sure?
A bit like the 1st Team, full of left fitters, can’t tackle leading to harem scarem defending. Lucky to be ahead but, looks like they’re all playing for one anothe, which is nice -:)))
Mir looks 20 OK but he is still only 18.
BeatBhoy, CorkCelt, hopefully a bit of confidence and more of that composure will see us through the tie.
Mr Pastry, GOOD MHAN:-)
Looking forward to the second half now, wheres the beer?
Young lads settled well into the game after a nervy start.
As expected, the Spanish boys showed excellent passing and movement and carried a threat every time they move forward.
Old looking youth Mir, on the right wing causing problems.
However, our two centre halfs have stood up to everything that came into the box.
10-1 to Valencia on corners.
Just watched the replay of the goal. Clever pass from Mc.Cart to Aitcheson, who told him where to play the ball and the 15 year old finished á la Griffiths.
Everyone playing well, but must guard against leaving Mir unattended when pushing forward.
Absolutely thoroughly enjoyed that first half there. We were a bit caught in the headlights during the first 10-15 but have slowly started to play better football, on the deck as the half wore on.
In some ways it’s a typical European tie in the sense that we’re playing a better team and so require 100% commitment (which we’re getting) and taking the chances when they come along (which we did very well).
Valencia’s #7 looks head and shoulders above most others on the park. But in with a great chance of getting through to the last 16.
LIke the look of our tall blonde central defender, and our left back/mid/foward all linking up well.
I understand there’s no extra time so straight to penalties if it’s a draw. But we’ll not need that.
The most enjoyable Celtic game I’ve watched in the past 4 ;-)
Beatbhoy. Last 16.
Website confirms last 16.
Up yer game, ’67!
Second half about to start mon the young yins :)
As does Corkcelt!
18 going on 28, I’d probably be wanting him in our starting 11 at the weekend, he does look a player.
Playing at Paradise at that age must be the greatest feeling ever for the young hoops
MurdochAuldandHay, especially with the backing from the crowd the kids are getting.
I take the Green Brigade are there?
And a vocal support to give it a bit of atmosphere
Is this the development team that all go to school & train together as part of their development ? If it was, the reckoning was it would take 10 years or so to see the fruits, wonder how many of this team will make the breakthrough ? Must admit I’m liking what I’m seeing from the young hoops…
Defending really well, well done BHOYS,
Hate tempting fate but got to get it in.
And lovely football from the kid, shot blocked.
Beginning to look like we are controlling the game
Have these young Celtic students of the game paid back their loans?

I understand the splinter group you refer to skipped paying their student loan repayment this month or and chose to go the game instead. :-)

This is a play-off, hopefully won’t be needed, but if all-square after 90 mins, goes straight to penalties.
Keeping the ball and getting up the pitch now, corner for us.
Who’s our no 10? Cracking game
Young Team playing well now, free header goes a beggin’
Great chance, big Kelleher. Heads straight at keeper from close in.
Saved by the keeper, big No.5 got his head to it, straight towards the keeper.
Another corner, we are playing well here.
Our best spell last 10 minutes. Hope we make it count.
If Celtic win here is it jotters for Gary Neville ?
And then we get organised and get into shape quickly when they counter.
Who says this building a team from the Youth is doomed to fail.
:-)
Bada
Hendry. . .said he was playing really well earlier.
Another corner for us.
Very impressed by several of the kids.
