AICSC Statement – Tommy Gemmell RIP

It was with great sadness we learned this morning of the passing of Celtic Legend Tommy Gemmell. In the long and illustrious history of Celtic Football Club Gemmell will be fondly remembered as a Lisbon Lion and for the pivitol role he played in the clubs finest hour winning the European Cup in Lisbon in 1967. Having already scored the equaliser he also had a hand In the build up to Stevie Chalmers winning goal too.

In a Celtic career that stretched over ten years at Paradise, the marauding full back picked up six league titles, three Scottish cups, four league cups and of course a European cup and also scored in two European Cup final, while making over 400 appearances for The Hoops. A giant both on and off the pitch Tommy will be sadly missed by Celtic supporters the world over.

The Association of Irish Celtic Supporters Clubs wish to extent our deepest sympathies to Tommy’s Family and friends at this difficult time.

Ar dheid Dé go raibh a anam.
