Tomorrow is Celtic’s biggest game since Seville

441

Tomorrow’s Scottish Cup final is Celtic’s biggest game since Seville. Having banked our 100th trophy, and an invincible league title, the opportunity to achieve a clean sweep of domestic trophies without loss of a single game is wholly without precedent. Even the Lions didn’t achieve this.

We are in an incredibly special season, an incredibly special time, for the club. When anything seems possible, it is hard to properly evaluate just how well things are going. We have had many title winning seasons, but the club’s trajectory, not to mention the sheer enjoyment of what we’re watching, has seldom come close to this season.

We face the club who have pushed us most in recent years at Hampden. They will arrive rightly believing they can win the trophy. It will be a huge task for Aberdeen, , but the odds on them taking the cup back north with them will be considerably less than those against Celtic completing an undefeated season a year ago.

Congratulations to the Celtic FC Foundation and everyone at the club who contributed to the incredible event at The Hyrdro last night. The scale and sheer professionalism of the night belied the fact that everyone involved were miles out of their comfort zone.

It was an incredible Celtic event. Thanks also to the performers who donated their time to the Foundation for free.

See you later at Greenock!

  1. The news that the very talented Bernardo Silva is joining Manchester City won’t have been missed by Patrick Roberts. The have broadly similar roles, and that puts our Paddy further back in the queue if he returns to City. His future may not be with Celtic, but it certainly isn’t with City.

  5. Corbyn should join the SNP, or an English version – he is an accomplished liar to rival the likes of Salmond, Sturgeon, Swinney and all members of the SNP cult.

  6. BSR,

Do you still need the travel adapter ? I’m about to have it surgically removed from my leg.

    ;-)))

    Next time, friend.

I’ve been catching up on line with The Hydro event, just magic.

    Gerryfaethebrig.

The rendition of Grace is sublime. Very emotional for me.

YNWA, at the end, more hankie time for me, as I remembered loved ones lost, especially at this time, The Barca Mole.

What a week to be a Celtic fan.

    Hail Hail to all.

BTW a young Portuguese fellow came up to me last night (since I have such a friendly face :) ) and said in excited English

“See that policewoman there she is Jorge Cadete’s sister” and now Morrissey tells me Cadete has posted on twitter the aftermath. So it was definitely his sister!

  10. My friends in Celtic,

Feeling really left out watching all the Celtic events from a distance.

Still I’ll see the game tomorrow.

  11. The blog the last few days has been the best since I started posting about 8 or 9 years ago.

Truly wonderful, absolutely magic and tearfully beautiful!

The biggest game that Celtic play, before and after Seville, is the next one. Turns out tomorrow is the next one.

    You’re correct.

  13. Oh their hurt is palpable, they just can’t help themselves. Thankfully there have only been a been few Trolls posting with sh*te about songs or Labour / SNP.

Meanwhile a great wee clip from the BBC looking at Celtic’s 1967 European cup victory and its significance within the Irish Catholic diaspora in Scotland.

I’m sat here thinking, much like Charlie Nicholas might do, and what I’m thinking is what possesses a man( is it sexist to assume the male gender?) to come onto an internet bog, hiding behind anonymity to be deliberately provocative hoping to wind people up?

Small willy and few friends is my considered conclusion.

  15. Strange that we have a cup final tomorrow and we are not talking about it. All the talk of ’67 has been a joy but a major distraction from the final… hopefully the players have not been distracted

Been a wonderful trip to Lisboa.

    There’s only One Jorge Cadete,

He puts the ball in the netty,

He’s Portuguese and he scores with ease,

    Walking in a Cadete wonderland.

Great to meet you on such a momentous day.

  20. BRTH Like so many who were in Lisbon,I cannot thank you enough for all that did for me and for your kind words. What you produce for all of us was incredible, another great Celtic show in the heat of Lisbon.
