TON-UP TIERNEY WINS AWARD

CELTIC defender Kieran Tierney has been named as October’s Premiership Player of the Month, ahead of Saturday’s return to domestic action at Ross County. Tierney, if selected of course, will make his 100th appearance for Celtic in Dingwall.

The 20-year-old Scotland international has played a key role for the champions as they went though the month without defeat.

Brendan Rodgers’ side began with a 1-0 home win over Dundee before a resounding 3-0 victory over Aberdeen at Pittodrie and a 1-1 draw at home to Kilmarnock.

Tierney, who played every minute of the Premiership matches, was particularly impressive against the Dons where he scored the opening goal and set up the second for Moussa Dembele.

He also committed his long-term future to the champions by agreeing a new six-year contract.
