PORTUGUESE referee Manuel Jorge De Sousa will be in charge of tomorrow night’s Champions League crunch between Celtic and Borussia Monchengladbach in Germany.
The 41-year-old match official is highly experienced and has been in control of international matches for a decade and previously refereed the Hoops’ 1-0 win over Elfsborg in a 2013 Champions League qualifier.
Ironically, Kris Commons, who was not named in Brendan Rodgers’ European squad, got the winner that evening in Glasgow as the Bhoys won through on a 1-0 aggregate.
Last season, De Sousa took charge of his first Champions League group matches, handling BATE against Barcelona and Gent versus Zenit St Petersburg.During the current campaign, he was involved in the Dinamo Zagreb v Juventus Champions League match and the recent World Cup qualifier between Kazakhstan and Romania which ended in a goalless draw.
