Topping agitates for a fans’ revolt

593

“The best hope for the Scottish game? It’s in the activity the fans bring to bear on big organisations.”

“Fans don’t realise yet how much change they can bring about”.

Not the words of a blogger-agitator, the words of out-going SCFL chairman, Ralph Topping, trying to incite fans to revolt against TV companies.  In the same valedictory interview to The Scotsman, Topping acknowledged the mobilisation of fans against governance standards at the SPFL, but turned his face to the fans.

The man has been in office for 8 years but has been a virtual recluse as far as the paying public are concerned.  Now we know why, he has no filter or self-awareness.

Not good enough, Mr Topping.  You have failed to answer any of the pertinent questions (here) and despite the game being brought into significant disrepute during your tenure, you have now briefed the press that you intend to ignore Celtic’s request that matters are reviewed.

If you want to incite a revolt from football fans, you are on track.  We’ll do what we can, I promise.

    The SFA waive the rules.

Last season alone Celtic players were abused and had missiles thrown at them at Tynecastle

    ( twice ) and Ibrokes.

UEFA are just a pesky annual problem for Celtic due to misdemeanours.

The SFA are an integral constant problem for every game played by Celtic, including their

    judges or referees.

We’re fire fighting taking on UEFA when the real issue is right here in Kings Park.

    Dessy,

Was asking about this joker last night.

I’m going for a Hun,probably ex-Polis and definitely clueless about the geography of Belfast.

    Maybe somebody will correct me.

  3. Yes TET was playing in Slievenamon.

I put my drive in a dyke, took a penalty drop and put my 3rd back into the same dyke, next hole screwed up as well. Got a crazy shank on my approach & put it out of bounds.

After 3 miserable holes felt like going home but from there to the finish I could do no wrong, Birdies & Pars every hole & finished with 45 points.

Moral of story never give up.

  4. UEFA rules mean that under normal circumstances Leigh Griffiths can’t appeal his ridiculous yellow card. However, UEFA’s citing Celtic for “improper conduct of the team” for picking up five bookings will give them a chance to appeal the charge by highlighting the stupidity of the Griffiths booking. Common sense says no booking therefore we only picked up four booking to charge is dropped, unfortunately we are dealing with an organisation that don’t understand the concept of common sense.

Griffiths is bang to rights on the scarf tying post match. Even though it raises two fingers to the morons, it was a stupid thing to do.

Now I remember, it has been a while since I played it, I would imagine the trees and the like have bloomed as well, it was rather bare-young when I last played there.

As I said, well done, 45 points is bandit levels, I assume they will slash you for that :-)

  7. Hi Paul67,

Very good article today, if this issue is going to be properly dealt with it’s pressure from the supporters that will do it.

We need leadership from all quarters.

By the By noticed you wrote SCFL, is this a typo or not? If not what does the Club stand for? You don’t have to answer if your scared of your first deletion;)

I’m at a loss as to why we have criticism of Celtic on CQN today.

    Let’s look at the facts…

    – The Supreme Court Ruled that Rangers use of EBT’s were illegal

    – The SFA had already decided to go on the defensive and issued a Statement that took no account of the Judgement whatsoever

    – Celtic released a measured, consistent and assertive Statement requesting a review

    – The SPFL issued a holding Statement

    – The SPFL Chairman, Ralph Topping went to the press to insinuate that the SPFL were going down the SFA route.

Now we know that the SFA and SPFL share the same office complex, we know there is backroom deals done by their senior executives so…

In light of that would it not be reasonable to assume the…

My Lawyers bigger than your Lawyer resistance was dreamt up after the Court of Session ruled Rangers EBT’s illegal in the expectation the Supreme Court would do likewise.

Now the SFA released a Statement that was so pre-prepared and hasty, that it was apparent it never even considered the Law Lords findings.

Yet still we wait for the SPFL… Why!?

    Well I’ll tell you why…

There is NO Consensus, we know what The SPFL Executive think, we know what Celtic think. It’s for the rest to decide.

    Don’t be misled… this is great news…

Look what happened in the LNS SFA Inquiry, The Five way agreement and the LNS SPL Commission, amongst a host of issues.

The Clubs were lead by the nose…

The fact that the SP/CFL haven’t made a statement means this has NOT happened. This is progress. Let’s allow them time to do the right thing.

    Hail Hail

  8. TET, You are correct about the 1st in Slievenamon but sometimes we have shot gun starts and today I started on the 4th.

Again it’s a par 3 and I went with a 6 iron. I hit it well enough but there is a dyke running along in front of green, another 2 feet & it would have been grand but this time it ended up in the dyke & as they say the rest is history.

Was reading our old pal Jonny Hayes is a Ballyfermot man.

Sorry if you have already posted that pal.

  11. Marspapa, I can assure you that what happened today is a rare rare occurrence for me.

That is why I posted about it. More often then not I play total rubbish but for some unknown reason for 15 holes today I could do nothing wrong. I’m pretty sure I’ll be back to earth with a bump next Wed.

  13. Lhads,

I’ve another favour to ask, please.

My nephew was born with a serious heart condition. He wasn’t expected to live, but thanks to the wonderful doctors and nurses at Yorkhill, he survived. He is now fourteen. Tomorrow he has to undergo open-heart surgery in order to replace a valve. This is a dangerous operation at the best of times. Can I ask those of you who believe, to offer a prayer for the success of the operation?

    Thanks,

Thats the great thing about golf , we all have that game in us …its just producing it is the hard part .

You’ve done it and no-one can take it away from you , well done pal .

Btw , for some strange reason was thinking of you and yir auld man the other day ….a programme about fox hunting ….all the beagles and working dogs reminded me of that video you were looking for ….strange how my mind works at times lol.

  17. !!Bada Bing!! on

Why do you think CP was a Training Ground for the Cops to take videos and pics of our support ? I have said before, without ANY proof, is someone on the Celtic Board being blackmailed? Why do we sit back and take every bit of shi#@ that is thrown at us without reply?

  18. Let the title stripping arguement continue for as long as SFA and SPFL try to worm their way round it. What we need first of all a statement from both that the club operating from Ibrox is a new club, nothing to do with the dead club, and only have history of five years.

  19. All of Celtic’s security team are ex polis none of them had leanings towards prior to them getting their current positions.

Very interesting that when talking about after game briefings with Police Scotland Ronnie mentioned behaviour before safety.
