Two weeks of kicking our heels comes to an end tomorrow as Celtic return to action in the Premiership, before facing Rosenborg in the Europa League at Celtic Park six days later. Coincidentally, both opponents sacked their manager ahead of Celtic games in recent weeks, Kare Ingebrigtsen left the Norwegians six days before he was due to face Celtic, while St Mirren sacked Alan Stubbs last week.
Ingebrigtsen’s departure did not help Rosenborg against Celtic, but their form since has been an impressive seven wins and a draw from eight outings. They are now two points clear at the top of the Eliteserien table.
Oran Kearney may be able to effect a similar improvement at St Mirren, but Celtic should have enough to make tomorrow night’s game something of a learning opportunity for the Irishman, just as they did for Rosenborg’s interim coach, Rini Coolen.
Don’t underestimate the value in the extra day’s rest a Friday night game gives you. Brendan will have an extra day at Lennoxtown, which is not dedicated to recovery or strength training.

Just read Celtic by Numbers article on the refereeing of Celtic games. Very interesting and most useful comparison was SPFL v European games. In any year we are referred more favourably in Europe than the SPFL.
This is based on numbers adjusted for possession. Quite a stark difference between the SPFL and Europe.
Now I see that someone at the SFA has gone to UEFA to ask for their interpretation of this use of the word ‘brutality’ in connection with recent incidents.
It is yet another coincidence that every single decision of the compliance officer or their appointed panel has either seen decisions negatively impacting Rangers being rescinded or reversed to their favour.
I presume that EUFA rules are interpreted equally and fairly into each member countries rules and that any disputed words are highlighted and dissected. Why has it taken until now to look for guidance from the UEFA folk that set the rules?

I watched the video that was posted with the Elvis soundtrack and didn’t think the video + soundtrack worked too well together – hey,ho just my opinion, however in the middle of the video was something I hope the Celtic Museum will recreate.
I think we are the only champions of Europe that have paraded the trophy on a coal lorry. The exhibition staff should be scouring vintage vehicle sales to find a coal lorry and recreate that scene. It is an important piece of our history that says everything about the Lions and our visionary board. Like many, I was surprised to read of the donations from Willie Haughey and Tom Hunter towards the purchasing of Hampden for the SFA.
I don’t think that either man has “traditional” links to the eternally corrupt organisation, therefore I wonder if the money had a quid pro quo element to it.
Could it possibly be tied to a commitment to clearing out the crooks from the SFA?
