I know we’ve touched on this before, but I continue to see, “Why do Celtic always leave it until the last minute?’ question asked about the transfer window. This is not a difficult question, in fact, it is the easiest question you will ever get about how football works.
Why do Brighton always leave it to the last minute? Why do Manchester City always leave it to the last minute? [Brighton, Man City and Celtic have, of course, already signed players]. Brighton are apparently very keen to sign Matt O’Riley, but here we are, on the 22 August, their season is already underway and Matt is knocking about Lennoxtown this morning.
We all know why this is. Matt is under contract and Celtic want to keep him, so will leave it until they are sure it is right to sell, that they have extracted the highest possible bid, and that they have backfill. How is it possible to know how sellers act when you are connected to the seller, but not when you are connected to a buyer?
Transfer windows skew activity towards the end of the period. Exceptions to this rule exist, but they always come with a story. Celtic, Brighton or Manchester City are not responsible for how humans react to supply and demand. Complaining about it is like shouting at the wind.

to buy it out they need to make the offer to all
St S. I’ve just been watching from afar. If any of those clubs in those countries have £100M in the bank, a single major shareholder,
in the event of a takover offer they need to make the same offer to all existing shareholders,
all 15,000 of them.
sure someone could on their own buy Dermons 34% but his current arrangement that he got special approval to not have to make an offer to everyone else at that time could not be continued.
a new offer would have to be made to everybody.
same for an existing shareholder buying DD shares to get their own majority. they have to make the offer to all. (internall threat from Lindsall Train).
AT I think mentioned recently, DD “majority” is effectively because he owns 34% of the 65% that actually votes.
the legal sleight of hand used to be in the contolling position now in a funny way locks him in to keeping the shareholding.
unless he tells them all i want to sell up, who is with me.

Safe 🤣 save 👍
Tickets remain on sale to eligible STH’s for the upcoming Glasgow Derby at Parkhead.
If Celtic have any morality they must keep faith with those fans who purchase said tickets.
No more Rolling out the red carpet for undesirables. If we don’t value our own fans, then who will ?
No huns at Paradise ever. We don’t need them and we certainly don’t want them.
HH.
as an aside, i have convinced myself, announcements on infrasture investments using current cash will be coming.
the survey was the excuse to do thingsa that suit the bigger spenders, watch and see.
as an aside i see some people now saying there is a waiting list of 30,000.
i dont believe that.

SAINT STIVS @ 7:27 PM,
Leicester City came in for Brendan Rogers in January 2018, by the end of February 2018 Brendan Rogers and staff had left Celtic for Leicester.
In the agreement hammered out between Celtic PLC and Leicester City a document was produced
Each member of staff that was leaving Celtic for Leicester was named, the compensation amount for each individual was detailed.
You think Brendan got up and left one Monday morning having secretly told a handful of staff he was going and he was going to take them but keep it quiet because he didn’t want the Celtic Executive to know.
——————-
so the well run business knew he and staff were going at some future date, they told leicester to get them this is the compo.
you said they were doing this for months, they were not.
we could have sat it out, he could wait on the next club, he wanted to go and accelerated it.
i am proud that john kennedy said no.
kepp the bridge and tooth fair insults, the truth is the truth.
They were contracted employees, of course they had to tell their employer they wanted to break that contract.
Gutted for both teams tonight. The Czechs and the Dane’s are close in terms of coefficient.
Hearts winning through would be a £2m loss to rangers. Hopefully they can pull it back.
Interesting article on the Bloomberg website yeterday.
‘America’s interest in investing in the Premier League fades’
Basically an overview but might bring a touch of realism to the party. Message seems to be, EPL is a great product, but it is not a business. Only four of twenty EPL clubs made an operating profit in 2022-23. Despite US ten ownership models in the EPL and thirty overall in the EPL/EFL there are no takers for opportunities at Spurs, West Ham, Crystal Palace, Brentford, Fulham and Wolves, and none for the likes of Sheffield Utd. There is a growing impression that footballing assets are over marketed and overpriced. Funny thing about Americans they like to see a profit down the line, and with intra-league competition it is difficult to keep costs down, and as mentioned yesterday more matches are having to be sold just to maintain broadcast revenues. Missing out on CL income is a no no, and Chelsea trying to qualify for the Conference is no substitute for CL income, not when you have a £400 mill wage bill. Still awash with cash of course, which they cannot wait to spend on players and agents. But no EPL clubs in any Euro final last season might ring alarm bells, in some quarters. In the meantime maximise the price for any players EPL clubs are serious about signing. And dont be shy about spending in different markets to replace them.
20m for Kyogo isn’t enough he’s 29 years young and years left in him.
Nakamura looked after himself and played until he was 50.

SAINT STIVS @ 8:20 PM,
It was lies….
Why did fholk believe it!?
‘Cause it was a Big Lie…
It was so ridiculous fholk thought it couldn’t have been made up.
Yet the idea that a Manager under contract with a football Club can upsticks and drive down to be a Manager of another Club without the express permission of his Club is totally ridiculous.
You said John Kennedy refused to go, he said no…
Do you remember reading that?
It was all over the SMSM after all
You remember the piece where BR did his flit after tapping up the Celtic staff, the article that labelled him “Fraudgers”…
We all remember reading that now…
Well read again, cause this is what the article reads like when the Lawyers were finished with it…
https://www.heraldscotland.com/news/17459237.brendan-rodgers-leaves-celtic-leicester-city/
It was lies St Stivs, the lies have been retracted.
Only the most gullable are still believing this nonsense
Top Managers just don’t get up one morning a decide to go and work for another Club, it’s not the boys brigade…
Hail Hail
Tough read page of last couple of pages.
“Take it outside” springs to mind.
Angstometer readings seem to have climbed off the back of the Kyogo story.
As for those desperate for scoops (caveat – they don’t actually have to be true) … it looks like FlightRadar is the latest tool of choice?
🤔🤔🤔🤔
SFTB –
olimould on tiktok – his latest video about marxism in football portrays modern football as an example of commodity fetishisation – a part of Marxist theory.
A coincidence after we were discussing it – KF’s possible departure to man city fits commodity fetishisation to a T as far as I can see.
and how many times can i type it.
i dont belive he got up one morning and went to leicester,
he was an under contract employee and wanted to leave early.
who do you think knew first ?
Tough on Killie and tougher still on Hearts tonight.
Coming home with a 1-0 defeat (now away goals don’t count) would have been a decent outcome for Kilmarnock.
Missed ½ coefficient point for Hearts … but if they come out the gates storming next week they might qualify.
Right now though … I reckon both will be eliminated.
Hope I’m wrong.
Why is it that the more successful we are as a club, the more problems it causes on this site???? We just won the “Best Run Club Trophy” in Britain, probably get a bike to hang up in the boardroom, or a big cup full of loving. We are on the verge of comings and goings, top of the league, playing some wonderful stuff, excitement of the champions league soon, but it feels like I am logging on to Follow Follow!!!!! We are bedwetter than this.

Anybody calling themselves a Celtic supporter who breaks bread [ £700.00+ ] type of bread with these spoiled well skelped arses are not Celtic anything anymore.
X 60,000 are equally as vile as the PLC plants…planted by Desmond…the fake Irish guy with the anything but Irish moustache….what a collection of good guys eh.
Market Value is generally based on Revenue and/or Profit (EBITDA). As I understand it, Share Price is irrelevant.
A great deal would be 5xRevenue, or 10XEBITDA.
SAINT STIVS @ 8:45 PM,
The Relationship between BR&Co and the Celtic Board had broken down..
Celtic PLC hadn’t bought a player for BR since Odsonne Edouard in June 2018.
Leicester City wanted BR&Co in January 2019 but Celtic wanted a large compensation package.
It was agreed all parties would wait until the summer when the comp would be much less and the whole thing more convenient
Celtic were put out of Europe and Leicester City’s results then fell off a cliff. Leicester needed a new manager desperately, they told Celtic they would pay the competition, they told Brendan Rodgers if he didn’t come then they would appoint someone else.
It was messy sure but under the circumstances a win-win-win
Brendan Rodgers & Co left for Leicester and apologised for the tardy way he had left.
Celtic PLC pretended they didn’t know a thing about it…
Totally bewildered and surprised, Lenny was conveniently in the vicinity and was able to jump in;)
That’s what happened…
Hail Hail

Not sure how many season books are under £700 these days.
Boondock saint
I do agree that it is odd.
Sadly one guy spends most of his day stirring up manager vs board shite.
The reality is the manager and 2 executives are making all the calls unless they needs a VAR to intervene and DD does that.
No problem for now. It may mean a fair bit less gain from player trading in a year or two but it should also mean less risk in who we do bring in with some immediate upside.
Boondock saint
Most folk should be happy with this in the next week I think.

Who`s fault is that?
The project bus or the CBC legal fee?
BTW, Fergus said that he had ended all of the CBC Abuse cases…and then the kilted anti Celtic Government were voted into the Scottish Parliament and as if by magic…Celtic abuse cases were a thing again?!
Then they found a bus load of witnesses to lie about Alex Salmon?!
If there is no irrefutable video evidence of said claims against Celtic then Celtic need to sack their legal team.

Liverpool have sold three players who have rarely troubled the first team (Bobby Clareke, Fabio Carvalho and this guy below) … for a combined £60m.
https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sepp_van_den_Berg
Re Van den Berg … I think this process should be outlawed.
All well and good buying a young prospect, training him, putting him gradually into your first team squad, then the team … and seeing his value climb.
But this lad hasn’t played a league game for Liverpool in the five years he has been their player.
They did similar with Tiawo Awoniyi a few years back.
Humans as assets with zero pretence they are footballers.
