Transfers: supply and demand

I know we’ve touched on this before, but I continue to see, “Why do Celtic always leave it until the last minute?’ question asked about the transfer window.  This is not a difficult question, in fact, it is the easiest question you will ever get about how football works.

Why do Brighton always leave it to the last minute?  Why do Manchester City always leave it to the last minute? [Brighton, Man City and Celtic have, of course, already signed players].  Brighton are apparently very keen to sign Matt O’Riley, but here we are, on the 22 August, their season is already underway and Matt is knocking about Lennoxtown this morning.

We all know why this is.  Matt is under contract and Celtic want to keep him, so will leave it until they are sure it is right to sell, that they have extracted the highest possible bid, and that they have backfill.  How is it possible to know how sellers act when you are connected to the seller, but not when you are connected to a buyer?

Transfer windows skew activity towards the end of the period.  Exceptions to this rule exist, but they always come with a story.  Celtic, Brighton or Manchester City are not responsible for how humans react to supply and demand.  Complaining about it is like shouting at the wind.

    So that’s it 3 people involved in transfers manager and 2 others.

     

     

    Hrumph bullshit and if not then someone is setting BR up here.

     

     

    His involvement should be (point) go get him. That’s it. Not shown a list that someone else has got their hands on and shows Manager a revised list.

     

     

    As I said we will see in 9 or 10 days with goings and comings.

     

     

    If I were the manager of Celtic I would not be a happy chappy at this moment in Time.

     

     

    Every manager wants to improve the squad they have, anything else is a lie, play with words, sounbite, etc.

     

     

    We keep hearing but Brendan has final say on transfers, we will see.

    I HAD to go to my Health Centre yesterday for Two appointments for blood tests etc.

     

    It was the first time that I have left ma hoose for just over 15 weeks.

     

     

    I then got a Taxi to take me back home, but I decided to go into The Shipbank for a wee while. Its was great to see my Pals ( Owners Frankie and his wife Janice ) once again.

     

    Frankie was so kind in offering me any help should I need some. He has previous for helping me when I was in Hospital a few years ago.

     

    I just stayed for TWO Pints, as I wanted to take things easy and go home and watch the Horse Racing from York in ma hoose.

     

     

    I was so glad that I ventured into the Pub after all those weeks being stuck in the hoose.

    Horses…

     

    On Wednesday I Posted about the Irish Trainer AIDEN O’BRIEN having THREE Winners at York and that I had backed all Three with the Bookie.

     

    I also mentioned that AIDEN had Two Horses running yesterday ( Thursday ) at York, and I had BOTH of those Horses in the same Bookie lines as the previous Three Winners on Wednesday.

     

     

    Out of his Two runners yesterday his first Horse was sadly beaten into 4th Place. However, his next Horse WON at odds of 3/1.

     

    As things stand, I have FOUR Winners outta Five….but AIDEN has THREE Horses running Today ( Friday) which I have on the same Bookie line as the previous Four winners, so fingers crossed ?

     

     

    AIDEN ALSO has TWO Horses running at York on Saturday, which I have included in Bookie lines alongside his Three Runners Today ( Friday ).

     

    Its fair to say, that ALL of AIDENS Horses for Today and Saturday at York are ALL Decent Odds. Thats because in fairness, the Races are very competitive. usually AIDENS Horses go off at limited odds.

     

    IF all Three of his horse WIN Today along with his Two runners on Saturday, I could end up richer than Celtic !

     

     

    In ma dreams.
