I was delighted when Dundee were awarded the vacant place in the SPL in July last year. They are a club with an outstanding history (check it out here) whose fans have suffered poor performances and downright bad decisions since the finished within a point of Dundee United and Aberdeen, and were relegated from the Premier Division in its first season.
With a latent, considerable-sized supporter base, by any measure they should be a secure SPL club. Only Celtic, Sevco, Aberdeen, Hearts and Hibs have more fans, although Dundee United may have closed their historical gap.
If Rangers had not been liquidated Dundee would currently be in the First Division, most probably at or near the top. Barry Smith would be getting ready for a final push for promotion. Promotion came too soon, they are miles adrift and will be relegated unless Hearts go into administration, suffer a 17 point penalty and make players redundant.
Sacking Smith and appointing John Brown, in political terms, could be described as a brave decision. ‘Mad’ is another word you could use. Reports that (suffering) Dundee fans, and shareholders, are in revolt at the appointment, should surprise no one. John Brown’s very public performances last year marked him out for his communication skills, ability to plan and make considered decisions. Put him in charge, and you know what you’re getting.
Should we beat them tomorrow, spare a thought for those in dark blue in the corner of the stadium.

sipsini @20:06 “Thinking Paul knows all sites are being monitored and doesn’t want any excuses for thems to take any action.”
I try to keep that on my mind when posting.

If it’s no the songs, it will be something else.
They hate us, they will hate us with or without the songs, anyone who thinks otherwise are deluding themselfs.

unfortunately, never a truer word was spoken…..hate, for the sake of hate, doesn’t deminish, or go away……..some peepul just love to hate ………

Seems the long standing ‘songs debate’ has been rebranded…
Or placed in a new context…
Would someone be kind enough to tell me what song lyrics were deleted by Paul67.
~~~~~~~~~~~~ ~~~~~~~~~~~~~ ~~~~~~~~~~
No problem,bud. These ones…
I hope Pat Nevin is ok after today.
Much as I dislike him I wouldn’t want him to combust in rage and shame at sectarian and offensive signing.
His hearing is so refined it can detect dodgy songs from other planets but never picks it up around Ibrox.
I used to sing IRA songs when I went to Celtic matches when I was a teenager. I had little or no knowledge of the history of Ireland. When I did read quite a few books on the subject I decided that that the people who fought and died to try and unite Ireland deserved more than me drunkenly singing about places I dont know and have never visited.
Just my personal view.
1213 people voted for BNP in berwick in 2010-what’s Shielfield park’s capacity ?
Why are songs of anti oppression and hope for a better future being banned from a Celtic fan site. What have we got to be ashamed of.we have nothing to be ashamed of.
if u want to sing so many songs of fallen heros then come upto my gaff tonite. if u wuld prefer to sing them at parkhead tomorow or fir park on wednesday and u get lifted then dont come on here and complain that u werent warned by what happened in berwick today
strathclydes finest will be looking out for you.
VP-He would spend most of the game arguing with guys in the Main Stand,offering square go’s and the like.A tool.
The lyrics that were deleted were a song about the First Cork Brigade of a certain 3 letter organisation.
What happened was this
I being a Dubliner started a bit of light hearted banter against what I saw as an infestation of Cork people taking over the blog.They of course came back with a few witty rejoinders and Corkcelt posted the words to the song (simply to show what great lads the Cork people are/were)
It was all harmless enough.someone then asked Corkcelt what exactly did he mean by posting those lyrics and what had it got to do with Celtic etc Bla Bla,
Paul then agreed with that poster and deleted Corkcelts posts
Canamalar then got the hump with Paul and here we are
All because of that crowd from Cork
I warned yis,the only good thing to come out of Cork is the road to Dublin
Would anyone let Bummer look after they’re pint till they went to the toilet
BADA BING!!
I trust that was in reply to VP at 2007,and not 2009….
sipsini,
I got the camel ref, so ah did, pitty it originated from anal stools, any one else and it might have been fun but he has only one motive when he addresses me, there is nothing civil in any of his comments aimed at me.
BMCUW,
P67 decided very recently that he will no longer allow the lyrics of Irish folk songs which refer to the IRA regardless of the era.
This is a new condition, corkcelt posted the lyrics to a pre easter rising song which P67 censored, with the argument it has no place on a football blog, yet he is happy for posters to make openly racist comments (kojo) as if it does have a place on a football blog.
Go figure
I have missed this comment, BMCUWP usually emails really important things that get posted on CQN, any chance you can post this again?
yorkbhoy @ 20:12
Agreed.
Been out today – I gather Sevco fans have embarrassed themselves again with their Now Thats What I Call 1690 songbook…
Can someone enlighten me as to why this time it seems a bit more serious?
Italiabhoy –
Probably because there is a planned “evening up” clampdown on lateraly mobile supporters of Celtic?
…………..just a guess tho’.
WITS,
I did not get the hump with anyone, why would you misrepresent what happened
I simply opined that P67 is part of the co-ordinated effort directed by the board to sanitise the song book, its an opinion is all, your the second person to lie about my input.
I enjoyed CQN last night.
It was full of the milk of human kindness.
I’m enjoying it tonight for all together different reasons.
CANAMALAR
What time is it where you are,and why should that make a difference?
Canamalar
I am not trying to lie about your input
Thats what my recollection was
Ok so you “didnt get the hump” apologies if my words offended you (and I not be sarky here)
You did object though,at least I think you did and you are entitled to object
Correct me if I am wrong
My fighting days on this blog are over (except for Corkies)
Malc,
you really are too stupid to follow a simple discussion
I have broken no rules, else I wouyld not be allowed to post, now how hard is that to follow clown.
Wits,
I never even objected, I simply note the rule change
You are absolutely 100% correct-last night was very special.
It was a delight to see such an out pouring of affection all round.And particularly for MIKI67,whose personal circumstances we all hope will improve.
Jings,it even got the much-missed JHILDAY out of lurk-mode. I miss my daily N Ayrshire weather updates,and other associated blethering.
Tonight sees us back to normal-I blame our natural propensity for self-flagellation.
I mean,our worst enemies make a cock of themselves LIVE ON TV,FFS,and we beat ourselves up about it.
Bloody marvellous……….
Canamalar
Correct you noted the rule change
However I presumed (and maybe incorrectly ) that you didnt/dont necessarily agree with this “rule change”
To be honest i dont think it was even a rule change,my recollection is that Paul reacted to an objection by a third party to Corkcelts post
As I am sure you would agree its all a bit silly.
I think you are wrong to think its all part of the “ongoing sanitisation of the songbook ” as orchestrated by the board
Dare I say it but I think you are a little paranoid about that particular subject
