Talk of trebles can disappear over the space of 90 minutes, and Ronny Deila will be forced to learn new patter if his team cannot regain the edge which was lost on Wednesday night at Celtic Park. The challenge will be all the greater for the absence of cup-tied Stuart Armstrong and Gary Mackay-Steven, with others, including Kris Commons and Emilio Izaguirre.
Dundee United have fallen apart in the last few weeks, the departure of Armstrong and Mack-Steven has probably had something to do with this, which means they will be hurting. Make no mistake, Celtic harmed their season by signing their best two players five weeks ago. United will have an edge to them.
Just loving the celebrations that one of the world’s richest 400 people no longer controls a Scottish football club. He still controls pretty much all profitable revenue streams, and holds security over assets, but he’ll no longer be asked to provide loan players, or loan cash. They have swapped an ‘off the radar’ wealthy man for a glib and shameless liar.
Ashley repulsed many. He was the archetypal fox let into the Ibrox hen house. The juxtaposition of Celtic announcing a £29m shirt deal with New Balance, rights Ashley bartered for £1 at Ibrox, gives you an idea of how impaired newco are. But allowing him to walk off with all those revenue streams, without the responsibility of running football operations, which will always lose money, is inexplicable.
I know people in the game who were concerned about having an opponent with the resources of Ashley. That blocking SFA decision was crucial. I don’t know anyone concerned about King, in fact, there is quiet delight at how things transpired.
Farewell Big Mike, thanks for all your work.

Are KC and AM definitely out for Sunday?
If yes play Griffiths and Henderson either side of Johansen and Guidetti up front.
Fisher at RB, Efe at LB. The rest picks itself.
As Mike leaves, Philvis returns.
Coincidence? I think not!

Denayer will go back to City, play some pre season games then be loaned out again towards the end of the transfer window. City don’t bring through their own anymore, they spend stupid money on average players, it’s the EPL way. I’d like to think he may come back to us again if we qualify for CL. We need to sign at least one centre half ahead of CL qualifiers and maybe hold out to see if Jason is available again at the end of the window.
Gary67 – I really hope we avoid Efe at left back.
Means we play with no threat on that side at all really. Stokes or Henderson will probably play left and they will cut inside. Efe will overlap then cut back as he can’t kick it with his left peg.
Totally changes the team dynamic.
I’d go with Wakaso. He’ll bomb up and down similar to Izzy. It causes them a problem that Efe wouldn’t.

Wakaso looks like he could do a job at left back.
—————————————————————-
I’m sure he could but unfortunately (for us) not a very good one. The history of football is littered with failed wide players who managers have tried to convert into attacking right or left backs. You usually find they are moderately ok with the attacking bit but bomb-scarish when it comes to their defensive duties. Play Wakasaso at LB on Sunday and wave goodbye to the treble.
Ambrose, Charlie, Mikel will step into central defense when the current two leave and we need to sign another experienced central defender.
Sweet Sixteen the only way forward for scottish football says Mark Wotte.

You seriously suggesting we go to Tannadice and play 4 upfront?
With a striker and MF either side of a striker and rookie MF?
Don’t think Biton or Broon would thank you for that idea.
Wakaso did well going forward on Wednesday night, and can tackle, but he dives into challenges when he should stay on his feet. Think he will have a part to play on Sunday but from the bench.
I suspect RD will go with Forrest if KC isn’t fit even though he has been poor since coming back from injury. At least the away support are more forgiving than the home support who seem to take pleasure in abusing the players they don’t like.
Gordon
Fisher Denayer van Djik Wakaso ( although I was not over-impressed v St J );
Forrest Brown Bitton Joe Hanson Henderson
Griffiths.
The above should be enough to beat a Dundee United side even if it does have an edge to it 0:-)
JJ
PS Encouragement for Forrest might help him ; booing certainly won`t.
Who is the development team left back?
If I were him I would be instructing my agent for a move.
Not even quoted.

It’s the same formation as we’ve played all season. Johansen will play behind the main striker as usual, Henderson has done very well on the left when he’s played there this season so I think it’s a question of who plays on the right. Forrest is rank at the moment so if Guidetti is fit to play up front then Griffiths is a obvious choice to play on the right. Even when he’s striker he ends up there anyway.
Talking of booing. I thought the booing on Wednesday MIGHT have been directed at Calum Murray. I hope so because there was certainly no reason to boo our team.
JJ
I doubt if big Mick be bothering ez arse, but he will be sending up someone with a suitcase every last Thursday of the month for his dosh, and it will be Nelson Eddies, as thems don’t have a bank account, an Big Mick won’t be taking any Tottie Beck’s, no chance.
Away for a few days tomorrow, anybody know who is showing the game on Sunday, i.e. Sky,or BT?

You said earlier
“play Griffiths and Henderson either side of Johansen and Guidetti up front.
Fisher at RB, Efe at LB. The rest picks itself.”
The way I read that is that you ate advocating a front 4 of
Griffiths, Johansen, Guidetti, and Henderson.
That’s most certainly not a formation I recognise as us having played all season.
If Denayer goes back to man city I would hope young O,connell would get his chance to stake his claim in fact as soon as the league is won I would like to see him get a run of games I think he has bags of potential HH

Police Scotland held a post-match enquiry following offensive singing during the Raith Rovers v Rangers match on Friday,

Perhaps, the match commander was unimpressed and insisted on a further choir practice.

Both barred mate alas it seems the rules do not apply to Glibby and Quiffy..
Something is afoot, I’m guessing another collapse followed by Glibby picking up the pieces and trying to use OPM to fund his dweem:))

So no Armstrong, GMS or Commons on Sunday. Looks like a start for Forrest and possibly Stokes too. Bitton, Brown and Johansen in their usual places. Wakaso looks like he could do a job at left back.

Team for Sunday
Gordon
Matthews (if fit) or Fisher
Denayer
Virgil
Effe

Stefan
Liam Henderson
Tonev

I might play Wakaso over Tonev last minute call.
Forrest and Stokes showed exactly why the should not play on Wednesday.
