Treble talk, farewell Big Mike

2035

Talk of trebles can disappear over the space of 90 minutes, and Ronny Deila will be forced to learn new patter if his team cannot regain the edge which was lost on Wednesday night at Celtic Park.  The challenge will be all the greater for the absence of cup-tied Stuart Armstrong and Gary Mackay-Steven, with others, including Kris Commons and Emilio Izaguirre.

Dundee United have fallen apart in the last few weeks, the departure of Armstrong and Mack-Steven has probably had something to do with this, which means they will be hurting.  Make no mistake, Celtic harmed their season by signing their best two players five weeks ago.  United will have an edge to them.

Just loving the celebrations that one of the world’s richest 400 people no longer controls a Scottish football club.  He still controls pretty much all profitable revenue streams, and holds security over assets, but he’ll no longer be asked to provide loan players, or loan cash.  They have swapped an ‘off the radar’ wealthy man for a glib and shameless liar.

Ashley repulsed many.  He was the archetypal fox let into the Ibrox hen house.  The juxtaposition of Celtic announcing a £29m shirt deal with New Balance, rights Ashley bartered for £1 at Ibrox, gives you an idea of how impaired newco are.  But allowing him to walk off with all those revenue streams, without the responsibility of running football operations, which will always lose money, is inexplicable.

I know people in the game who were concerned about having an opponent with the resources of Ashley.  That blocking SFA decision was crucial.  I don’t know anyone concerned about King, in fact, there is quiet delight at how things transpired.

Farewell Big Mike, thanks for all your work.

What will happen to the Newcastle reserves ? That will certainly weaken them if they pack their bags.

You know I love a bit of semantics. We all know PL does as well, as there’s been many a dicussion on what some of his statements really meant.

I think he was trying to be a bit too clever yesterday instead of just deflecting the question as he should have.

For the sake of my line of reasoning lets say the Davitt turf laying hadn’t occurred. Then you could argue that in Celtic’s (ie the direct actions of the club) history there wasn’t any Irish Republicanism. However it would still be the case that there were links in Celtic’s (ie the general and those associated with the club) history.

That’s as clear as mud but it is consistent with PL thinking he’s being cute.

He got it wrong on this occasion.

Hope celtic stop using parks coaches. I terminated all my car stuff with parks ages ago due to his involvement.

  5. Dave King , Paul Murray et al all speak passionately about ‘ Rangers history & tradition’

Why does nobody ask them about that fantastic tradition which practiced outright discrimination for over one hundred years?

NegAnon2 – just pointing out the rampant sectarianism of Father Ted.

Besides, if they search my bins it’ll not be sectarianism I get done for.

  7. Weeminger. I will ask the obvious question. Just what is wrong with irish republicanism? Is it illegal (well maybe in modern scotland alongside irish flags and Irish national anthems). is scottish republicanism illegal too?

THE LYING KING AND THE MONKEY’S

    Narrated by HMRC

In the ancient time, all the animals were living

together. All of them were together and they had

their own chief who could see their cases.

During that time the monkey took a loan from the

lion and all the time the lion was asking the

monkey to give him his money.

He would always say, “I will give you your

money,” but he never gave it.

Whenever the monkey saw the lion, he used to

hide himself so that he could not be got by the

    lion.

One day the lion went to the chief. The chief was

the fox. He accused the monkey.

“Please, fox, I have a debt. My money has been

taken by the monkey. He has been refusing to pay

it to me until now and I don’t think I will get it.

Therefore, you try to see our case.”

All the animals were called. The cow, the sheep,

the goat, the rat, the hyena, the buffalo and many

others. So they gathered under a tree to hear the

case between the monkey and the lion. So, during

the long run of the case being heard by the chief,

the monkey was convicted that, unless he paid,

there was no any other way, he had to be eaten

    by the lion.

Of course the lion is a very strong animal and

none of these animals would be able to fight him,

so they were afraid. Because of that fear, the

    monkey was convicted.

“Unless you pay the money to the lion, you must

    be eaten.”

First of all the cow decided this sentence, so the

monkey was sentenced to be eaten by the lion.

Every one of those animals said the same thing

because they were afraid of the lion.

When the fox, the chief, saw that the monkey was

convicted, that he was sentenced to death by all

the animals, the fox didn’t like this thing, that the

monkey would be eaten by the lion. He was not

    interested in this thing.

Finally he said, “Well, monkey, you are sentenced

to be eaten by the lion, but before someone is

eaten, you can see also the tree. You can see the

tree. The tree is behind you. Even myself, I

sentence you to death like any other animal. So it

is a unanimous vote that you should be eaten, but

you can be eaten seeing the tree.”

So, immediately, the monkey understood what

the fox was saying and he jumped up and

climbed the tree and every animal dispersed and

the lion was unable to eat the monkey, so he

    saved himself by the tree.

This teaches children that if you borrow

someone’s property you must pay it back. The

other thing is that the fox, being the chief, was

siding with the weaker animal rather than with

the strong, and it was a democratic vote, a

decision by all the animals that the monkey

should be eaten. But he would suffer all his life, to

be in hiding. That’s his punishment.

    Pub time :)

Looking forward to Sunday without any team news latest, I’m hoping that RD gives Liam Henderson a start at Tannadice. with SA out, it’s time for the youngster to show what he can do, in the Armstrong role. RD might persevere with more experienced Anthony Stokes as he did on Wednesday.

Stokes isn’t playing well but has been over the course before, similarly depending on injuries, James Forrest is likely to get the nod, for the GMS role, although he’s even more off form than Stokes.

The cup tie could be ideal for both to reestablish the faith shown in them.

Celtic haven’t properly filled the main striker role and both Guidetti and Griffiths are hit and miss strikers, that haven’t claimed the jersey for their own, especially noticeably when Celtic play on the big pitch at Parkhead.

Ideally Kris Commons would also start this game but he Emilio Izzaguire and Adam Matthews are likely to remain doubtful, in which case I expect Efe Ambrose will play right back and Mubarak Wakaso would start in the empty LB role.

This is a unique encounter when both Dundee Utd and Celtic will badly miss the inclusion of Gary MacKay Steven and Stuart Armstrong.

Sorry, in and out of a tricky work thing.

Is there anything wrong with Irish Republicanism? No.

Is there a problem with how you go about achieving it and support of that? Potentially.

Does PL want to spend his life explaining the nuances of the various Republican groups’ nomenclature? Probably not.

  24. Defensively, Wakaso and Stokes together on the left is a real worry. If Wakaso is at left back then Henderson is a must to help him out.
